Chapter 1355: Chapter 1354: Do You Like Me?

He didn’t directly reveal Su Changfeng’s rank. After all, all of this was just his speculation. Besides, this was their first meeting today, and he didn’t really know Su Changfeng, so he didn’t dare to speak too definitively. If he ended up displeasing Su Changfeng, he wouldn’t know what to do.

Su Changfeng chuckled, finding this Shen Mao quite interesting. Although Shen Mao hadn’t explicitly mentioned his strength, his words made it pretty clear. Such cautiousness was indeed laughably ridiculous.

"I still don’t quite understand." Su Changfeng pretended to be clueless.

Shen Mao didn’t know how to respond for a moment. Was he really going to directly point out Su Changfeng’s rank?

"Mr. Ye, if you are willing to step in, from now on, I and the Ren Family are willing to swear our allegiance unto death," Shen Mao said as he knelt down before Su Changfeng.

On the Tianyuan Continent, strength was always respected, and age was not important at all. Power decided everything.

Therefore, even though Shen Mao was much older than Su Changfeng, for him, kneeling to Su Changfeng was nothing remarkable. After all, Su Changfeng was a master, and being a master entitled him to the respect of all.

Su Changfeng couldn’t help but frown. The matter of Shen Mao was entirely unexpected for him, so he didn’t have any need to hold anything back.

He put the Fate Fruit up for auction, and as the auction house owner, it was his job to keep his identity hidden. Thus, the outcome, though somewhat related to him, didn’t require him to bear the responsibility.

However, from a moral standpoint, Su Changfeng naturally felt he should step in to protect him.

Yet, doing so would unquestionably pit him against the Situ Family, and the troubles following that would surely only increase. At the moment, Su Changfeng couldn’t give an answer.

"You go back first. I’ll think it over and give you an answer tomorrow," Su Changfeng said.

Since Su Changfeng had spoken, Shen Mao dared not ask further, and he stood up to take his leave.

"Master, are you going to help them?" Wang Junyi asked curiously after Shen Mao left.

Su Changfeng didn’t say anything; instead, he looked towards Qiutang Yu’er. Given that the destruction of the Qiutang Clan was orchestrated by the Situ Family, he was curious about Qiutang Yu’er’s thoughts.

"Yu’er, what do you think?" Su Changfeng asked.

"What do I think? Do I even have a say?" Qiutang Yu’er responded.

"Do you want revenge?" Su Changfeng asked again.

Upon hearing this, a fierce look appeared in Qiutang Yu’er’s eyes. How could she not want revenge? It was almost the biggest motivation keeping her alive.

Such a good opportunity was now placed before her, and refusing was not an option she considered. If it hadn’t been for Situ Yuan sabotaging from within, the Qiutang Clan wouldn’t have met such an end.

"Of course, I do!" Qiutang Yu’er said decisively.

Wang Junyi, on the other hand, was a bit worried. Although he realized he had no say in Su Changfeng’s matters, he still voiced his concern, "But Master, are you really going to make a move against the Situ Family now?"

"What? You think now is not a good time?" Su Changfeng asked.

Wang Junyi nodded.

"Oh? Then what do you think would be a good time?" Su Changfeng inquired further.

"I..." Wang Junyi didn’t know how to answer. In his mind, there was never a good time because he felt the Situ Family should not be offended under any circumstance, and taking such a huge risk for just Qiutang Yu’er was unnecessary.

After all, in his heart, the Qiutang Clan was long gone, and Qiutang Yu’er, being just a girl with no skills, wanting to avenge the Qiutang Clan was simply a naive fantasy.

"The thought that others might be harmed because of me makes me uncomfortable," Su Changfeng sighed long and hard.

In truth, he didn’t ask Qiutang Yu’er because she was particularly important, but because he wanted a clear answer from her. However, when he posed the question, he already had a decision in mind.

He didn’t intend to avenge Qiutang Yu’er; he mainly didn’t want Shen Mao and others to suffer unwarranted disaster because of him.

Over the years, he had gotten used to handling everything without relying on others. Back when he was besieged with no one around to support him, he had erected an unyielding wall in his heart, unable to be crossed. Over time, he developed a habit of not wanting to bother others.

Now, Shen Mao’s situation was indeed caused by him. If he stood by coldly and ignored it, he wouldn’t be comfortable with himself.

"If you’re afraid, you can return to Tianshui City now," Su Changfeng said to Wang Junyi.

Upon hearing these words, Wang Junyi panicked. He was indeed scared, but he definitely wouldn’t back down. Since he left Tianshui City with Su Changfeng, Wang Junyi had silently made up his mind that even if it meant death, he would face it alongside Su Changfeng, for he had no way back.

If he left Su Changfeng, he would surely fall into ruin again, returning to a life of aimlessness and decadent luxury—a fate he absolutely couldn’t accept.

"Master, I won’t go back. Even if it means death, I will follow you!" Wang Junyi said.

Su Changfeng smiled. This guy was something, but his courage was certainly lacking. Even if he became a Primordial Master, he would likely be the most timid one among them.

"Why are you helping me?" Suddenly, Qiutang Yu’er looked towards Su Changfeng and asked.

"Do you have feelings for me?" she continued, before Su Changfeng could respond, with a confident expression.

Su Changfeng was taken aback, then waved his hands hurriedly, saying, "I have no such intention. You’re really overthinking it. Although I want to deal with Situ Yuan, it’s not to help you get revenge—I’m just simply aiming to help Shen Mao."

Qiutang Yu’er shook her head with a grin, "Don’t explain. You must have feelings for me. What’s so embarrassing about a man liking someone? If you didn’t like me, why would you be willing to take such a big risk?"

Su Changfeng looked helpless, shrugging at Qiutang Yu’er’s narcissism. He didn’t even know what to say to her misplaced confidence. Genuinely, this woman was way too self-absorbed.

"Think what you will; anyway, I..." Su Changfeng didn’t finish his words before suddenly sneezing.

"What’s going on? Is this a cold?" Su Changfeng frowned. That shouldn’t be, right?

Meanwhile, back at Shen Mao’s home.

When Shen Mao returned home again, his face was already pale. His body had already been barely holding on, yet he forced himself to meet Su Changfeng. His condition was already at its limit, and if he didn’t take good care of it, he probably wouldn’t be able to keep living.
