Chapter 1348: Chapter 1347: Going to Another Country
"Zhou Hai shouldn’t mention anything about me for a while. He most likely won’t do that before the auction begins," Su Changfeng said.
"But your identity will be exposed sooner or later. I’m really worried that the trouble will keep growing. After all, those powerful families have countless ways," Wang Junyi said.
"Even if it’s the Emperor, I doubt they’ll do anything to me. What can those families really do?" Su Changfeng said nonchalantly. He had already considered the worst-case scenario, and since it had already happened, talking about it more was pointless. It was better to take it one step at a time.
"Master, you might relish a good fight, but if things get too heated, not even the Emperor can protect you," Wang Junyi said with concern.
Though the Emperor was the supreme in Xingluo, even he wouldn’t break ties with so many families just for someone like Su Changfeng.
"The Continent of Tianyuan is vast. Is Xingluo the only place I can stay?" Su Changfeng said with a smile.
Initially, Wang Junyi didn’t understand Su Changfeng’s intention, so his expression remained blank. But when the meaning dawned on him, his eyes widened immediately.
"Master, are you thinking of going to other countries?" Wang Junyi looked incredulous.
"If Xingluo doesn’t provide a haven, then this is my only option," Su Changfeng said.
Sweat started to bead on Wang Junyi’s forehead, and it seemed he was truly frightened.
"What kind of reaction is that?" Su Changfeng frowned and questioned. It’s merely going to another country; why such a drastic response?
"Master, if you want to go to another country, you must pass through the Sourceless Forest," Wang Junyi impulsively reminded. To the people of Tianyuan Continent, the Sourceless Forest was akin to Purgatory; only a Primordial Master dared to even imagine such a journey.
"I know, so what?" Su Changfeng said calmly.
Wang Junyi couldn’t help but swallow his saliva and asked blankly, "Master, are you truly a Primordial Master?"
In truth, Wang Junyi had often speculated about Su Changfeng’s rank, but without witnessing it firsthand, it was all just conjecture.
For Wang Junyi, it seemed improbable that Su Changfeng was already a Primordial Master. That was, after all, the highest rank, and Su Changfeng was so young; how could he have achieved that?
Yet now it appeared he was utterly unafraid of going to the Sourceless Forest. If he didn’t possess the power of a Primordial Master, how could he entertain such thoughts?
Su Changfeng merely smiled and said nothing. He didn’t know his own strength either, having never faced a Primordial Master. Hence, he was entirely unaware of what such power entailed.
But even if he wasn’t currently a Primordial Master, he had no worries. As long as he wanted to, he would surely succeed.
Su Changfeng had many Fate Fruits, and these were sure to elevate his rank to Primordial Essence quickly.
"By the way, why haven’t I seen You Meng around lately? What is she up to?" Su Changfeng shifted the topic and asked Wang Junyi.
Wang Junyi wasn’t foolish; he understood Su Changfeng’s reluctance to answer the previous question, so he didn’t press the matter further.
"Lately, she’s been quietly staying at the inn," Wang Junyi replied.
"And what about Mu Yan? What’s going on?" Su Changfeng continued asking. He knew those wealthy heirs all too well. They wouldn’t easily let go after suffering a loss, and trouble was bound to come his way eventually.
"Oddly enough, Mu Yan has also been keeping to himself. He spent a fortune on a small courtyard and hasn’t taken a step outside. He doesn’t seem inclined to trouble us," Wang Junyi scratched his head and said with some confusion.
Recently, he had also bought off some people in Xinluo City to keep an eye on Mu Yan, but, frustratingly, there was no activity from that side at all.
"It seems he’s still waiting," Su Changfeng said with a smile.
"Waiting for what?" Wang Junyi asked, even more puzzled.
"Since all the powerful families in Xingluo are gathering here, it’s only natural that the family behind Mu Yan will show up as well," Su Changfeng explained.
Upon hearing this, Wang Junyi came to a sudden realization. Apparently, Mu Yan wasn’t avoiding retaliation but rather reaching out for reinforcements.
"Didn’t I ask you to investigate the owner of Xinlong Auction House? Have you found anything?" Su Changfeng asked.
"Yes, I found out. The owner behind it is Shen Mao. Almost half of the auction houses in Xinluo City belong to him. Who knows how much money that old fellow controls? I’ve pinpointed his location, but reportedly, he hasn’t left his home in many years."
Mentioning the money made Wang Junyi’s eyes gleam. In truth, with his current power, money wasn’t as significant, but he hadn’t yet grown accustomed to such things.
"Whether he steps out or not is unimportant. Just keep an eye on how many people go see him recently. Only he can decide whether my whereabouts will be revealed," Su Changfeng said.
Zhou Hai was merely a figurehead; all his actions were dictated by Shen Mao. Consequently, Su Changfeng never worried that Zhou Hai would betray him since he lacked the courage.
However, with Shen Mao, it was uncertain. He held the ultimate authority. If truly pressed by a powerful family, he might indeed disclose Su Changfeng’s information.
"Rest assured, Master, I’ve got people keeping watch on You Meng’s side, Mu Yan’s side, and Shen Mao’s residence," Wang Junyi said with a smile.
Su Changfeng nodded in satisfaction. This was why having Wang Junyi around was so valuable. With a helper, many tasks didn’t require Su Changfeng to attend to them personally, saving him considerable effort.
Accustomed to being a hands-off leader, if Su Changfeng had to handle everything himself, it would be quite an adjustment.
Three days later, nearly everyone had arrived, making this auction the busiest in Xinluo City’s history, a once-in-a-lifetime event. After all, apart from Su Changfeng, no one else would dare to auction off Fate Fruits.
Chen Qingqing finally arrived in Xinluo City after a few days.
During her journey, she encountered numerous troubles. No matter the circumstance, a girl traveling alone would inevitably attract some troublemakers. But in the end, they all reaped what they sowed. Chen Qingqing wasn’t a force to be underestimated.
Back in the Infinite Cave, she had consumed many Fate Fruits just like Su Changfeng.
"Why does Xinluo City have so many modern items?" Upon arriving in Xinluo City, Chen Qingqing had the same reaction as Su Changfeng before her. Seeing the familiar architecture made her almost feel like she was back on Earth.
Just as she was considering trying her luck to find a place to stay, a young girl stopped her.
