Chapter 44: Chapter 44 : Luminary Trial End

"Try withstanding this Zeres, if you do, I’ll do anything you ask for." Her eyes creased, then a warm smile tugged at her lips.

"Anything? " a playful grin appeared on Zeres face, his blood-rubies eyes staring intently at her.

Saelyz felt heat crept up her neck. She had said something that can be misunderstood!

"Don’t try anything funny." She snapped, then she aimed both of her hands straight at Zeres. freewebnσvel.cøm

’This is dangerous! ’ Zeres felt chills down his spine.

The spell combination just now had no flaw. The wind was aimed straight at him so he wouldn’t be able to use his wings, and the ice charging straight at the ground.

Zeres extended his hands hastily, then he deployed a barrier—but it was a basic spell. He could only hope it can at least prevent heavy wounds.

Then the ice spears and the wind vortex crashed straight at him. The barrier he deployed shattered into pieces.

Mist covered the entire area after the two spell from different affinities colided.

Saelyz gaze never left the place where Zeres stood, then a glint passed her eyes before it vanished instantly.

’He’s still there’ she shifted, her hands ready to cast some spells again. The mana within her continued to run through her mana pathways, ready to use mana at any moment.

In an instant, a blurry figure charged straight at her. His long white hair fluttered from the strong wind, his arms were stretched, then he swung it.

Saelyz moved, her instincts screaming at her as two massive claw strikes fromed out of thin air—then it charged straight at the spot she was standing into before.

A huge mark was etched on the ground, dusts clouding her field for view.

"It’s no use" she said, then she flicked her fingers.

Mist immediately replaces the dusts as ice began forming on the ground.

Then Saelyz opened her mouth.

"Blizzard of the Frozen Plains" she chanted.

The whole area went still. The leaves in the tree had stopped moving. The wind was halted by a mysterious force.

’Shit! ’ Zeres’ eyes widened. ’Is she seriously using that incantation on me?!’ He gritted his teeth.

No matter how cocky he tried to appear, he couldn’t afford to use all of his affinities here; just like her. But her using that incantation on him specifically meant she acknowledges him.

"Haha, is that a compliment or a last gift to a dead person? " he chuckled lightly.

Saelyz’s incantation. It was a forgotten one, a method used by mages from the first epoch—it was a chant that has a greater firepower than the spells used today. freewebnoveℓ.com

’I’ll need to prepare to receive damage’ a bitter laugh escaped from his mouth. Then two massive bat-like wings emerged from his back.

He curled it around him, it perfectly covered his entire body.

’Flying high up will be suicidal, Saelyz can still use her wind-affinity on me’ Zeres regretted the foolishness he had felt earlier.

It was indeed foolish of him to think he could fair against someone that have been drowning in talent since she was young. She had trained all her life, she have lead a bland life of just training and studying.

The wind around him screeched as if it were being move against it’s will.

Then wind blades started scraping his wings. The impact made him stagger backwards.

’I have to brace myself! The main attack isn’t here yet! ’ Zeres clenched his teeth. Just the agonizing pain of the wind blades trying to break through his defenses made him want to scream.

Just then, Zeres felt the approach of something massive and dangerous. He raised his head, and there—he saw it.

Snow covered the entire place, the frozen ground started to cracked, then ice spears began to emerge from the ground!

"Zeres, feel free to use your dark affinity" Saelyz said.

"Huh? " Zeres froze, his head snapping towards her standing figure, her long raven-black hair fluttered behind her, curtain-bangs on her forehead and a golden eyes that seemed to know everything.

"Stop acting clueless. Thanks to what you’ve just said earlier about finding out I have light affinity—I also figured you have a dark-affinity." An amused smile appeared on her face.

’Fuck’ he wanted to laugh at how he proudly taught Saelyz, just for her to reveal his affinity.

"You’re really a Zenith of the freshmen." Zeres shook his head, then he raised his hands in surrender.

"What are you doing? " Saelyz asked, she shifted. ’What tricks are you going to play now?’

"Saelyz.... Time’s up, professor Elyssa’s already watching us a moment ago."

"Huh? " Saelyz head snapped to the side.

Professor Elyssa was already there, she walked towards them, then she spoke.

"Zeres, Saelyz, The Trial is already done."

"You can continue that duel later on the academy." She said, there was a tired smile on her face.

"Is there something wrong professor? " Zeres asked, the wings in his back disappearing in an instant.

"Of course! All of the cadets told me they’re too scared to approach you two! "

"I have to come here myself! " she clicked her tongue.

Zeres’ head turned at Saelyz, she was quietly walking beside them. Her expression tells it all; she was not pleased.

"How about that purple head there professor? " Zeres pointed at a tall tree.

"Helize?" Professor Elyssa’s loud voice echoed as a figure fell down the branches straight at the ground.

Her purple hair was a mess, leaves dangling above her head, she held up an apple on her hands.

"Ouch! " she hissed.

"Come with us." Professor Elyssa then grabbed her shirt.

’I’ll have to ask for another match’ Saelyz thought, her gaze drifting back to Zeres’ figure.

Just then, he turned his head, a playful grin tugging at his lips before he mouthed.

"Don’t forget what you said, that you’ll do anything I ask for. "

She rolled her eyes, but then she nodded. She was true to her words after all. But if the request will be inappropriate, she’ll beat him up to a pulp until he regrets saying it.

Just like that, the trial came to an end.
