Chapter 155: Ask Again

Ryan’s POV

Ryan was on Vivian’s couch and they were holding each other.

There was nothing sexual about the contact, but he felt as though if he were to die in that moment, he would be a very happy man.

He had his Vivian in his arms, and that was all that mattered to him.

"I have been seeing Bryce again," The soft words shattered something in Ryan’s chest. For a few seconds he could not even breathe, his entire body frozen.

What she was telling him was not news to him at all. He already knew of this thanks to Amy. But hearing Vivian admit to it, made his heart hurt. The fact that she had been vulnerable enough to allow that parasite back into her life did not make him feel good in the least.

Having felt Ryan’s body go stiff as he’d registered her words, Vivian immediately released him and began speaking as she rushed to reassure him.

"Not like that, the two of us have just been having meet-ups. Nothing happened. I know that he wanted more, but I just never allowed it. To be honest, I was keeping him around as a punishment for myself,"

"Why would you want to punish yourself?" Ryan asked and Vivian shrugged helplessly. It was clear that she was not happy that she had made such a choice.

"At first I allowed him back into my life because I felt I needed a reminder as to why a man like you could never want to be with a woman like me. But then after I found out that I’d made a mistake, I kept letting him come back because I felt I needed to be punished for losing out on a good thing all because of my insecurities,"

Oh Vivian, the woman just had a way of hurting Ryan without even meaning to.

"No matter what happens from here on out, I do not want you to ever feel that way about yourself, and please do not ever let the likes of Bryce back into your life that man does not deserve you," Vivian’s eyes turned guilty at that.

"What? What is it?" Ryan asked.

"He is actually supposed to be here tonight," Unable to help his body’s instinctive reaction, Ryan stiffened, his hands balling into fists.

"What?! When is he supposed to get here?" Taking out her phone, her eyes immediately went wide in shock.

"Oh wow, has it really been so long? He was supposed to be here an hour and a half ago, but given that so much time has passed, I doubt that he is coming," Ryan felt all of the tension in his body release at that.

"Good. If he had shown up, I would have broken his nose," He expected Vivian to be startled by the sudden bloodlust that he was displaying. But instead, her reply caught him completely off guard.

"Not in here, could you at least have waited to punch him outside? I do not want to be cleaning any blood off the floor," Ryan raised a brow at her.

"Really? That would have been your only objection to me attacking him,"

Vivian shrugged. "The man is in need of a good punching. I have wanted to do worse to him since we have been talking again," Unable to help it, Ryan just started laughing and a few seconds later, Vivian joined him. The sweet sound of her laughter made Ryan laugh even more, all of the stress that he had been carrying around disappearing completely. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

The two of them had moved from the living room and were now in Vivian’s tiny kitchen. She had rustled up a quick stir fry for them and it was the best stir fry that Ryan had ever had. As he filled his stomach, he became aware of another kind of hunger. One that emanated from his chest and Ryan knew that if he left without feeding it, he would not be able to get any rest. And so, deciding to take a risk, he spoke his mind.

"Vivian Rose, will you be my girlfriend?" Ryan asked before he could talk himself out of saying the words again. The first time that he had asked Vivian that question, he had ended up with a broken heart. Earlier that evening, she had turned him down again. But now, he got the feeling that her response would be different. Sure enough, it was.

"Yes, I will be your girlfriend, Ryan Terrell," Getting to his feet, Ryan moved over to her side and helped Vivian stand. The moment they were both standing he drew her into a kiss.

Given that she’d not been shy on the amount of garlic that she added to the meal( it had been enough to down a thousand year old vampire). Both of them were reeking of it, but Ryan did not care and from the way that she enthusiastically kissed him back, Vivian was also not bothered. They were both just happy to finally be each other’s people.

As was the natural progression of things, he and Vivian were now making their way to her bedroom. Their lips locked together as they moved, hands roaming over each other’s bodies. Pulling back from the kiss as they neared their destination. Ryan saw it fit to remind his Vivian of a few very solid truths.

"Hello there, my beautiful, gorgeous girlfriend. The woman who introduced the light back into my life, compass of my soul, and the reason for the brightest smiles that I have had in years,

Having not expected him to just blast her with poetry out of the blue, Vivian was left at a loss for words, unable to say anything back to him. But Ryan was not bothered by that at all.

The lack of words was something that her screams and moans of pleasure that he would draw from hair once they got down to business would more than make up for.
