Chapter 153: Story Shared
Ryan’s POV
Any other day, Ryan would not have been able to stomach Vivian staring at him with fear in her eyes. Upon seeing her looking at him like that, he would have immediately tried to take the anger out of his voice. To make sure that she knew not to be terrified of him. But he was currently too mad to care. How dare she think so lowly of herself! Even worse, how dare she even say it.
"Take those words back and do not ever repeat them. I will not have you talking down about yourself. Especially when comparing yourself to that witch. What you have just said is the most ridiculous thing ever. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on both inside and out, Vivian Rose," Despite his displeased tone, Ryan reached out and gently wiped away her tears. Tenderly cradling her face before he let her go and continued speaking.
"I look at you and I wonder how a being so perfect could have ever been crafted," Vivian took a startled breath and Ryan decided to tell her all of the things that he felt as well. The woman clearly needed to be convinced of just how worthy she was, and Ryan was just the man to do it.
"It has been weeks since I have laid eyes upon you. And every single hour, every minute, every second of those weeks hurt. The entire time I wanted to just abandon all that I was doing and go out and look for you," She stared at him and stunned silence, and Ryan carried on. She needed to know how much he had missed her.
"It hurt, physically, mentally, emotionally, I was in constant pain. To try and give my heart a break from all of the agony it was feeling, I tried to channel the agony elsewhere, but that only added to my aches," He held up his hands so that she could see his bruised knuckles.
"Ryan," She gasped in shock, her soft hands briefly going over the backs of his hands. A very big part of Ryan was warmed by her worry. But he forced himself to not get lost in the feeling.
"When I saw you just now, it felt like all that had been wrong in my world was suddenly fixed. That is not something that will go away, Vivian Rose. No matter how much time I spend with you, I feel as though the emotions that you bring about in me will only grow stronger,"
" I care for you in ways that I have never cared for another human being. With all of those things that you’ve been saying about not being good enough have you ever considered this? I, Ryan Terrell am the one who is not good enough for you Vivian Rose?"

Having been just quietly listening to him with a stunned look on her face, the moment that Ryan told her he was not good enough. Vivian was instantly moving, shaking her head so hard that he actually worried that it would come off her shoulders.
"That is not true, Ryan. You are the best man that I have ever been with. Don’t ever say something like that. You deserve good things in your life. Do you hear me?!" Taken aback by the heat in her voice, Ryan could not help but smile. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Pointing a finger at her, he laughed softly.
"Did you feel that sharp anger that just overcame you the moment that I started talking down on myself?" Vivian nodded and Ryan’s face went serious again.
"That is exactly how I feel when you talk badly about yourself Vivian. So please, for my sake try and say only tender and loving things to yourself. I cannot bear the thought of the loveliest person I know being mean to herself,"
Vivian’s mouth fell open in shock and she swallowed. For a moment it looked as though she was about to protest, but, lucky for both of them, she did not. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Fine, I promise to practice being kinder to myself. But it still doesn’t change the fact that when compared to Gwendolyn Stuart the fourth, I do not hold up," Running his fingers through his hair in frustration, Ryan’s sighed, then he looked over at Vivian. Clearly the only way he could get her to see things from his perspective was to tell her a painful truth from his past.

Lacing his fingers together, Ryan gathered up the strength to bring up the painful topic. Only then did he begin to speak. His voice strong and steady despite all of the pain that the memories he was recollecting brought up.
"You know that my brother died right?"
Vivian nodded. "Yes, I do,"
Ryan’s entire frame shook with the force of the next breath he took.
"Well, here is the entire story," He began.
"Gwendolyn and I dated four years ago, and I really thought that she was the one. I was so desperate for her to be the one that I ignored some serious red flags,"
"There were a few incidents that I chose to overlook. Things like her being a bit too into herself. Too pushy, a bit too rude, too cold to others over the most trivial things. I just figured that no one was perfect and I kept going on with our relationship," Taking another breath, Ryan decided to just get to the heart of the matter.
"Then one day, four years ago, my brother came to me not even able to look me in the eyes, and he confessed that he and Gwendolyn had been sleeping together," Next to him, Vivian let out a shocked puff of air, her eyes wide. But she did not say anything, which allowed Ryan to continue.
"I confronted her about it and the way that she reacted..." Ryan cut himself off, looking for the right words to vocalize the monster that Gwendolyn had shown him.
"There was nothing but pure selfishness in her. She literally could not see why I was upset. The way she saw it, it was my fault for hurting over something two adults did for fun. She even joked about how she would have gotten to my grandfather too, but that he was far too old for her liking," Vivian looked as though she were about to be sick. Which was a very reasonable response.
"I had planned to cut off both her and my younger brother but before I could do anything, Brian died in a car wreck and Gwendolyn just kept going about her life like nothing had happened. My brother died with me being angry at him. I still get angry at him after all these years. That one selfish act that they did clouds my memory of him... and Gwendolyn...Gwendolyn has just kept on living her best life,"
"When she looks at me I can see that the way she sees things I am being a stick in the mud. To her, it was all years ago I should be over it by now, but to me, sometimes it hurts so bad I have trouble breathing," Clearing his throat, Ryan turned his full attention to Vivian.
"Do you see now, my sweet Vivian, why you are the best woman for me? Gwendolyn Stuart the fourth cannot hold a candle to your beauty, both inside, and out,"
