Chapter 150: Sickening

Vivian’s POV

Her sense of self worth might have gone a little wonky over the years, but it still existed.

So even though it had taken a few weeks to show up when it came to the Bryce situation, it was finally there. Not only had it showed up again, Vivian was listening to it.

She did not want to keep interacting with Bryce. Not only had she outgrown him, she had developed a sense of self-confidence, and she loved herself too much to ever let herself be tied down to that man again. Allowing him back into her life when she had been at her lowest, had been a mistake.

Just because she had misunderstood Ryan Terrell and had ended things because of Gwendolyn Stuart the fourth. It did not mean that she deserved to be punished for the rest of her life. Vivian had woken up with that thought in her mind. It was the exact opposite of what she had been feeling for quite some time now, and she found that it resounded more with her soul than the thought of her deserving endless punishment had. So now she had decided that when she saw Bryce again that evening, she was going to tell him to go and never come back. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

Unfortunately though, Vivian knew it would not be that easy. Bryce was not the type of parasite to go away when told to. He was very resistant to being kicked out. She had made the mistake of letting him back in, and he would be hanging around like a bad smell for as long as he could. Thinking on the matter for a little while longer, Vivian decided that the best thing that she could do was to start putting distance between the two of them first.

Sure, the agreement had been that she and Bryce would be meeting up that night. But she could cancel it so that she built up more barriers between her and the man. If she called and told him that she just was not in the mood for a meet-up, there was no doubt in her mind that Bryce would be showing up and threatening to kick the door down. He would do so ’jokingly’, but they would both know that he was being very serious.

The only thing that she could think of doing to ward him off would be to fake an illness. In the past it had been a surefire way of getting him to leave her alone.

Whenever he had been sick, Vivian had played nurse. Catering to his every whim, cooking for him, cleaning for him, taking him to the doctors and handling his meds. But whenever Vivian had been unwell, the man had always disappeared. Sometimes not even bothering to come up with a reason as to why he had vanished when she needed him.

She had always been sad when he did that, but now Vivian was grateful. The moment that she began talking to Bryce over the phone and started dropping a few coughs here and there, he would pick up on her ’sickness’ and be the one to cancel. She would be sure to amp up her coughs and tell him how much she was looking forward to spending more time together and being as close as possible.

As the extra spice on top, Vivian was also going to pretend like she was gagging.

If there was one thing that Bryce could not stand, it was the sight of another person’s vomit. He would definitely not want to be around her then, and Vivian would have at least a few days to plan her exit strategy.

This time she would make sure that no matter what happened, once she was free of Bryce, she would never allow him back into her life in any capacity.

She had endured far too much from that man and she would never allow herself to suffer in his company ever again. Turning on the lights to chase away the darkness of the evening. Vivian sat on her couch and pulled out her phone. Taking a breath, she went over what she was going to say to him in her head before going over to her contacts and searching for his name.

She was just about to dial when there was a knock on the door.

Oh no!

The knock came again and Vivian looked from her phone to the door. It was an hour before she was supposed to have been meeting up with Bryce. Why was he early? The man was never early for anything unless he wanted to torment her. frёewebnoѵēl.com

Suddenly breaking into a cold sweat, Vivian looked around nervously. Maybe she could pretend like she was not in, and he would give up and go away. Biting her bottom lip hard, she cursed herself mentally when she realized why that would not work.

She had just turned on the lights less than a minute ago. Bryce had most definitely seen her apartment lighting up. So he knew without a doubt that she was inside. Looking down at her phone, Vivian wanted to cry. She’d had such a great plan. Why did it have to fall apart before she even got a chance to put it in motion?

Forcing herself to think, her eyes went wide when she realized that she did not have to scrap her plan entirely.

She just had to change a few things.

The whole flu idea would not work anymore, since she’d not had the time to prepare herself so that she looked more sick. Another plan would have to do. She would just have to swallow her pride, open the door and tell Bryce that she could not hang out with him because she had explosive diarrhea. With any luck, she would be able to summon a very stinky fart and it would be potent enough to scare him away.

Getting to her feet, Vivian took a deep breath. Bryce had not stopped knocking the entire time that she had been thinking. There was an urgency to the knocks that was terrifying. It almost made Vivian want to stay cooped up inside even if she knew it would make Bryce angry. Suppressing that instinct, she began moving towards the door.

"Coming," She rasped out when she was close enough. Hoping that her act was convincing, she slowed her pace and hunched over, a hand on her stomach. When she reached the door, she took one more deep breath and opened it... it was show time.

But the moment that she opened the door, Vivian’s plan fell apart.
