Chapter 144: Need to Act
Amy’s POV
Amy had never liked Vivian and Bryce as a couple. The two of them had been a terrible combination from the very beginning. They had been so bad that Amy had not thought that things between them would last as long as they had. But the relationship had lasted for years and during that time, Amy had learned just how much she could dislike two people being together.
To be honest, she had not liked Bryce as a human being. From the very first moment that she had met him,( him trying to hit on her, and then telling Vivian to get rid of her when she had refused him had played a huge role in that). In her books that creature was nothing more than a waste of space.
She absolutely detested that man and she got the feeling that she would go to her grave still hating him. But as much as she had hated the combination of Vivian and Bryce as a couple. That had been familiar territory for Amy. Vivian, despite always taking him back, had always been very closed off to Bryce, even if she had never admitted it. All of the times that he had cheated on her, had made her a bit numb to him.
But now this new thing that they were trying was shaking things up.
The two of them were hanging out, not dating, though it was clear that Bryce wanted Vivian as his girlfriend. The platonic feeling each other out thing was just not working. It was not benefitting Vivian at all and Amy did not like that. Now, instead of feeling just hate for Bryce. There was a new emotion that Amy was feeling and it was reserved for Vivian.
That emotion was fear.
Amy was scared for her friend. Not only was she scared of what would happen if Vivian continued to associate with Bryce. She was terrified of what the interactions were doing to her friend. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Flowers and chocolates, the man had sent Vivian a gift, and at the sight of that one delivery Vivian had fallen to her knees and had started pulling at her own hair.
That was not the reaction of a happy person. That was the reaction of a scared and terrified human being, of someone who was slowly being driven to insanity.
Whether her friend wanted to acknowledge the depth of the problem or not. The truth was that Bryce was not good for Vivian’s health. Though it was none of her business, Amy could no longer just sit back and hope for the best. Taking out her phone, she made a call, glad that she now had the particular contact that she was dialing. She had gotten it before meeting up with Mark a second time. The employee who had given it to her back at the bank had been blushing fiercely, and Amy had carefully hidden her own embarrassment as she’d heard whispers of ’dominatrix’.

"That man is a creep and I do not see him stopping unless he is stopped. Vivian is vulnerable right now and he is taking advantage of that," On the other end of the line, Mark hummed in agreement.
"From what you have been telling me, the man sounds like he is very desperate to sink his claws into her. Desperate people can be quite dangerous,"
Amy bit hard at her bottom lip. Then she let it go just as she was on the verge of breaking skin. The last time that they had talked, she and Mark had agreed that the only way Vivian and Ryan would have a shot at fixing things would be if they met face to face.
But no matter how much thinking they had done. The two of them had realized that trying to force Ryan and Vivian to talk would cause more hurt instead of helping. Being caught off guard would not help matters at all. If Vivian and Ryan saw each other under those circumstances they were more likely to make their situation worse instead of fixing things.
But now after seeing Vivian’s reaction to Bryce’s so-called gift. Amy was desperate, something had to be done, and it had to be done as soon as possible. Otherwise her friend might find herself trapped in a rapidly worsening situation.
"Would it be possible for me to meet up with Ryan?" Mark made a thoughtful sound at that.
"Do you really think meeting up with Ryan will help the situation?" Scratching at her head Amy cleared her throat. "I am not sure, but what I do know is that if we try to force Ryan and Vivian to see each other, they will not react well. But maybe if I were to go see Ryan on Vivian’s behalf, things would be better," Meeting with Ryan had been her original plan, now she was going back to that. Amy was hoping that the sight of her would not make the man angry. That he would at least be willing to hear her out.
Mark was silent for far too long in her books, and she tried to sell him the idea some more "It might be a long shot. But I think that if I can talk some sense into Ryan, I might just be able to save my friend from the clutches of the good for nothing parasite that is Bryce,"
"I am not completely sold on your idea, but I guess it is better to try something than do nothing," Amy exhaled a breath that she had not even realized that she was holding.
"So you will help me find a way to get me in contact with your friend?" She asked him, just to be sure what they were agreeing on.
"Yes," Mark answered easily and relief washed over her.
Hoping that she was making the right decision, Amy spent a good chunk of her time helping Mark. The two of them brainstorming ideas, trying to find a way for her to have a meeting with Ryan Terrell that would not instantly have him storming out at the sight of her.
