Chapter 119: Dom
Amy’s POV
As awful as it was to admit, even to herself. Amy had developed a system when it came to dealing with her best friends post break up phase. Most of the system had been developed during the numerous times when Vivian had broken up with that leech, Bryce.
It had mostly consisted of being a shoulder to cry on, and not saying anything for, or against the relationship, (mostly because she knew that Vivian would likely be taking that awful man back). She had thought that the same thing would work when it came to the break up with Ryan Terrell. That all she had to do was be supportive while not really having too much input in the situation. But Amy was now realizing that her usual approach would not work.
What she was currently witnessing made all of the times that she had seen Vivian cry over Bryce look as though her friend had been play acting. When Vivian had been with Ryan Terrell, even if they had not been an official couple, Amy had had the pleasure of watching her friend re-discover her self-worth.
But now with Ryan gone, it was like Vivian was hell bent on undoing all of that healing and adding even more emotional injuries to herself.
This was not something that Amy could look away from, and keep hoping that Vivian learned a valuable lesson. If she did that, the only lesson that Amy could see was her friend relearning how to destroy herself. The woman had even gone as far as to admit that she was back in contact with Bryce because he treated her horribly. She was talking to the man even though she knew how awful he was. Vivian had acknowledged that Bryce was bad and she also admitted that this time around she was going to be hanging around him for one particular purpose...to be treated badly.
That would not be happening, not on Amy’s watch, something needed to be done.
The thing with Ryan Terrell had really messed Vivian up. The only thing that Amy could think of that would help her friend get over the billionaire and get off the toxic ride that she was currently hitching with Bryce was if Vivian got closure.
Normally, when people needed closure, they were the ones who went out looking for it.
But given her best friend’s fragile emotional state, Amy knew that that would not be happening.
If she were to try and force Vivian to get into contact with Ryan Terrell, then things would probably not end well at all. But there was one thing that she could do for her friend. She could be the one reaching out to the man, and asking him questions that she knew Vivian had never leveled at the billionaire. Questions like, ’Why did you lead my friend along knowing that you had another woman in your life?’
’Why could you not just be upfront with her from the very beginning?’ Once she had answers to those questions, Amy could go back to her friend and relay the information to her, letting Vivian realize that none of this was her fault.
That she did not need to punish herself simply because Ryan Terrell had made such an awful decision.
Unfortunately though, that turned out to be easier said than done. The biggest roadblock to that was the fact that Amy did not have any of Ryan Terrell’s contact information.
She briefly entertained the thought of going on to one of his social media profiles and just posting, [Hey Ryan, this is Amy, Vivian’s best friend. We need to talk about what you did]. But even she knew that that would not be received well at all.
No one sane wanted their business shared on social media. And if her comment gained a lot of attention, not only would she be having people look at Ryan Terrell in a certain way. They also would be searching up Vivian, which was the last thing that her best friend needed.
Trying to reach out to him through the various companies that he owned also turned out to be a dead end. Props to him though, Ryan Terrell hired people who were very serious about protecting his personal space. Not a single one of them snitched no matter what Amy tried to offer them. Though to be fair, all of her offerings must have seemed like breadcrumbs in comparison to what they earned. freewebnovel.cσ๓
The other thing that she considered doing to get in contact was to go through Vivian’s phone and take down Ryan’s phone number. But since she currently could not bring herself to look her friend in the eyes, let alone be in the same room as her. That also led nowhere. Amy was this close to giving up when she suddenly remembered something.
Ryan Terrell had a best friend, Mark, a banker.
The man had been mentioned more than once.
Fortunately for Amy, Ryan Terrell’s best friend was not as hard to track down as Ryan was. The internet was very willing to share not only his picture, but also the branch of the family owned bank that the man ran.
In no time at all, Amy found herself walking into the building. Ready to ask difficult questions for the sake of her best friend. Things should have been easy from there. But the moment that Amy dropped Mark’s name, things changed. Especially when the people at reception found out that she did not have an appointment. Her continued insistence on seeing him seemed to make them only colder towards her.
"Miss, you’re going to have to leave,"
"No, I am not. I am not going anywhere until I see Mark," Brandishing her tiny purse in front of her like a weapon. Amy tried to dodge the security guards, but they were too quick. They caught her by the elbows and began dragging her away. Her feet kicking mid-air as the two giants escorted her out.
"Leave me alone! I am here to see Mark! You are going to regret this. Mark! Mark!" She called out. Desperation making her louder than she had ever been in her entire life. People were staring but she did not care. Her best friend’s happiness depended on this.
"Mark! Mark!" She was almost at the exit when she caught sight of the man. He was staring at the spectacle that she was making, from the back of the little crowd that had formed. It was then that Amy realized that the man had actually never seen her up close, ( he had probably even forgotten the one time that they had met at the bar). She had to give him a sign.
"Mark!" She called looking directly at him.
"Vivian Rose sent me. I am here to be your new dominatrix!"
There was silence for a bit. Then the entire bank started whispering furiously. All of the people looking between her and the man in question with obvious interest, ( there was even a woman licking her lips). Her words finally catching up with her. Amy wanted to disappear from the face of the earth, but it was too late. Mark was already making his way towards them. The security guards seeing his approach unhanded her.
Amy tried her best to look dignified as the handsome man got closer. But it was a losing battle, she just knew that her face was putting the reddest of tomatoes to shame at that moment.
When all was said and done, Vivian was going to owe her big time.
