The days had melded into weeks and weeks into months. The spring season was replaced by sweltering summer days. Skyla was happy like a summer lark for she had learnt so much from her boss regarding the business world.
Some of her lost confidence had been regained and Zyair ensured she was always comfortable. freewebnoveℓ.com
She had also begun to secretly talk with the employees of her father’s company. Some of those people she knew were loyal to her father.
She was trying to win as much support as possible, putting in gear her plan to win the company back. Once it will be done, she would divorce the man who had made her life a living hell.
Her comic was doing extremely well, thanks to her skills and those gifts from her secret reader which provided promotions.
What hadn’t changed was her ride home. She still hailed a cab. It was her home time and she was standing outside waiting for it. As usual, Zyair watched her from atop with a clenched jaw.
Once or twice he had tried to drop the hint of pick-and-drop through Lawrence but Skyla straightforwardly refused.
He didn’t take his eyes off her until the cab became a small blur and then finally disappeared from his sight.
The permanent abode this woman had created in his heart was growing by the day. Blooming into something which transcended his understanding.

Skyla was checking in today’s worklist and her workload for tomorrow. A lot of her time was spent with the anime department these days and Zyair had given her open reign to make decisions. She had also found an amazing friend in the form of Mawar.
The cab halted outside her house, she paid her fare and thanked the driver before exiting it. To her surprise, Doran’s car was parked right opposite the house and he was leaning on it with his arms crossed, waiting for her.
The silent impassive glare in his eyes made a knot appear in the pit of her stomach, she gulped to ease the uneasiness that was creeping up on her.
For weeks, Doran had been silent, too silent and she knew a wrecking tornado always followed this behaviour which left her bruised.
Once the cab had driven away he drawled out, pointing to the car with his eyes.
"Get in." Her whole body trembled seeing nothing good was about to come out of this. Her palms were getting sweatier by the second and she almost dropped her work tablet. Shoving it into her bag she tried to smile and ask.
"Where are we going?"
"On a ride," his voice had undertones of threat that if she didn’t move, it wouldn’t end well. Willing herself forward on shaky legs she finally reached the car door and opened it before settling inside.
He took the driver’s seat and put the car in the ignition before driving off with her. His knuckles were white as snow from the pressure he was exerting to clutch the steering wheel.
She stole a tentative look and there was this murderous intent in his piercing blue eyes as his teeth ground against each other. Skyla’s heart began to beat at an abnormal rate and she could sense a panic attack coming. The numbness in her hands and feet began to grow.
He kept driving without sparing her a glance or saying a single word until they reached a very secluded dirt road with fields and trees on both sides. There was not a soul in sight, only a falling old barren. The shadows of evening were getting long as night was already falling.
He parked the car on the roadside, near a large willow tree and huffed. Finally, his head turned to face his wife who was leaning away from him in extreme fear. Her beautiful eyes held nothing but dread and contempt for him. He could see it clear as day.
Doran closed his eyes to reel in some of the anger that was wrenching his insides, like an inky demon it spread through every vein of his body. And all he wanted to do was hurt her, inflict pain like it had been done to him.
Opening his eyes he grabbed his cigarette case and lit it up with his zippo. Skyla still wearily watched him, her body in a fight and flight mode for she didn’t know when the blow would come.
The smoke from his cigarette swirled and began to fill the car as he took a deep inhale, hoping his senses would calm a notch.
"Did you get the picture of your boss like I asked?" he finally seethed out in anger and took a deep puff of the cigarette.
"No," Skyla had no intentions of doing that.
"And any personal data?"
She shook her head this time, too afraid to speak seeing how on edge of losing his mind he was.
"Why not?" he shouted so loudly, banging his free hand on the steering wheel that her heart almost stopped. She covered her ears with her hands while her heart almost burst.
"That sales data you handed over to me last week. It was inaccurate. You did it on purpose, didn’t you? You are acting loyal to that masked freak instead of your husband. You ungrateful bitch."
He fumed with such rage that the veins in his neck protruded as he grabbed her right hand and yanked her forward. Bringing the cigarette down he burnt her soft skin with it.
"Ahhh!"
Skyla cried out in agony as she thrashed in pain and tried to push him away with all the strength she possessed. But he was so much stronger than she was, he easily overpowered her.
His hand clasped around her slender neck yanking her closer to his fuming face. He tightened the hold and Skyla couldn’t breathe properly, her irises had dilated widening the pupils as she tried to claw his face.
"You have been going behind my back talking to people in my company, trying to rile them up against me? You thought I wouldn’t know?"
His other hand grabbed both her wrists and he pinned them under his bent knees as he towered over her like a beast of doomsday. frёeωebɳovel.com
"Let go of me you freak," she screamed in agony as he let go of her throat. Her words had no effect on him instead he landed a tight slap on her face.
’Thwack’
Skyla’s head whipped to the side and she hit her head on the glass. A blinding pain erupted in her head and her cheek burnt where he had hit her. She screamed as tears descended in her eyes.
He grabbed her hair and brought her face very close to his. Doran’s eyes were nothing but slits of rage and despair, any humanity that might exist seemed to have been lost. While hers were obscure from the amount of tears as she sneered back at him in pure hatred.
"Listen to me very carefully, stop meddling in the affairs of Adams Corporation or I will ruin you and your boss beyond repair. That company is mine."
