Chapter 72: Erdith
Skyla left her bed, freshened up and changed, finally taking his coat jacket off. It was like she had peeled off a protective cover and left herself exposed. She carefully hung it in the cupboard.
Her breakfast and medicine for headache were delivered to her room. Skyla ate and took her medicine before lying down to relax for a while until her headache subsided.
Lawrence texted her that they would be leaving in an hour so Skyla left the bed and got ready. Putting on her teal pantsuit, she had that professional persona surrounding her now.
She exited her room and Lawrence was already outside about to knock on Zyair’s room.
"How are you doing now? Miss Skyla?" he asked with slight concern.
"Much better, ready for this day," Skyla answered as the door to Zyair’s room opened and he exited it with the phone on his ear. Looking all professional in his grey three-piece suit.
He gestured for them to follow him and they did. freēwebnovel.com
Zyair seemed in a slight hurry, he was taking long strides and talking to his assistant director Gairo. They had set up another meeting with a different company while cancelling their deal with The Urbans. freēwebnovel.com
Exiting the hotel they settled in the limousine Zyair had hired last night and headed off. He ended the call and briefed them about the new company and the kind of deal they would be looking to sign.
Skyla and Lawrence gathered all they could about the new company. They weren’t a huge name but they seemed legit and had positive reviews.
Zyair shared his vast knowledge related to business deals, which points to focus on and what to check. Skyla and Lawrence absorbed every word and made notes.
They reached their destination and climbed out. The set-up of B & J’s company was small but they were gradually making waves in the fashion industry with their trendy designs.
The CEO was a 35-year-old woman, Erdith Kane, with a vision to provide branded clothes at affordable prices.
She was present to welcome them along with her secretary and senior staff members.
"Hi! Welcome to B & J’s. It’s an honour to finally meet you, Mr. Zyair," Erdith welcomed them with a bright smile.
"Hello! Thank you for having us on such short notice." He introduced Skyla and Lawrence. They moved forward and shook hands with Erdith and the rest of her team.
Three of them received a very warm welcome from Erdith and Co.
Erdith personally gave them a tour of her company, showing them each department and how it operated.
"We are small but business is blooming. I have been blessed with some very talented designers and people love our style statement," she explained as they met her designers and watched them work on their computers.
"Very impressive indeed," Skyla told Erdith as she watched them operate and was quite impressed with the work environment. It was relaxed and her people seemed genuinely happy working with her. There were no hostile looks and everyone was exceptionally amiable.
Zyair observed the workings of the company with his keen eyes. Erdith’s assistant Jacob kept him and Lawrence company and answered all his questions very thoroughly. They had started their anime clothing line and merchandising as well. The company appeared extremely proud of it.
Satisfied with operations and the environment of the company they finally settled down in the small conference room of B & J’s to finalise the terms of their commodities deal.
Zyair wanted a collaboration related to anime merchandising as well. It was added to the stipulations of the contract they were drawing. After a few hours of discussions, the deal was finally signed between both companies.
"Congratulations and thank you for choosing to work with us, Mr. Zyair. Together we will touch greater heights," Erdith beamed, finally placing the pen down.
"I am looking forward to this, the future will hold many successes," Zyair answered. Murmurs of approval and satisfied smiles went all around them. Skyla was content, this company seemed much more worker-friendly.
"Are you by any chance staying till tomorrow? Because we have arranged a stall at the Anime convention tomorrow. Why don’t you join us there? It will be so much fun and we will get tons of ideas of what’s trending these days," Erdith proposed, as an anime fanatic she herself was very much looking forward to the event.
"That’s one of the reasons we are here to attend the Comic-con and the convention," Zyair informed her and now they had all the more reasons to attend it.
Erdith insisted for them to have an early dinner with them. Irrespective of refusal from Skyla and Zyair she didn’t want them to leave without eating.
Lawrence and Zyair ate in Erdith’s office while Skyla dined with Erdith in another room.
"So how does it feel like to own a company and be the CEO at such a young age?" Skyla was highly impressed by Erdith and how she carried herself and her work.
"Dedication and love for what I do are the main keys. I built this up from scratch and got lucky to have a hard-working team. I have followed Mr Zyair’s story and he is one of my biggest inspirations. He rose from nowhere and now he is building up this vast empire."
Erdith was all praises for Skyla’s boss without the usual lusty glint in her eyes as Skyla had seen other women do, instead, there was admiration.
"He is indeed a remarkable man. I have recently started to work for him but can understand why he has reached where he has. He holds his principles at utmost priority and cares deeply for his employees."
Skyla answered with pride bubbling up in her chest. She had to admit she had never met a man so upright.
"Impressive. With the kind of fan following he has I would be lying if I didn’t think he would be haughty and proud— and yet I found him so humble. Believe me, girl, men like him in the business world are non-existent. He should be cherished and praised more."
"I cannot agree more, Miss Erdith," Skyla smiled at the woman she was growing to like with every second.
"Call me, Erdith dear. Our companies are partners now and we are heading to a very bright future."
"Yes, we are."
"So, can I ask something just out of curiosity and nothing else?" Erdith asked in a hushed voice and Skyla nodded while picking up the glass to take a sip of water.
"You are the only woman I have heard he has ever hired to work this close to him. Have you gotten a chance to see his face?"
Skyla almost spit out the water but held it in and gulped it down.
"No, he takes his privacy very seriously. Sorry to disappoint but I haven’t," she truthfully answered although deep down she wished one day she would get to see his face.
"Ah! I can bet he is very handsome." Erdith winked and Skyla couldn’t help but smile.
