Chapter 281: Kail’s Vacation

"I am not paying you to just sit hidden in your room and do nothing. If it hadn’t been for your request, that obnoxious redhead who dared expose my face like that would have been taught a valuable lesson by now. How long do you need?" The mysterious caller asked Doran on the phone in a rather condescending tone. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Doran grinded his teeth in annoyance but kept his composure. He needed this man and his money.

"It’s not that easy, that piece of trash guards her so well. She hardly leaves the house nowadays and when she does, she does it with him or her bodyguard. I need a few more weeks, the plan has been set in motion," Doran answered, clutching the phone too tightly, the anger depleting his face of any emotions but hatred.

How dare someone talk about his Skyla like that? She was his and no one else would touch her.

"You have two weeks, after that I will be sending my men after her and what they will leave behind won’t be salvageable." The call went dead after that and Doran was left balling his hands and venting out his frustration on whatever he found in the dark dingy room where he had been living since he had left prison.

His plan seemed foolproof, only it was a matter of time and perfect execution. The bait was ready, Zyair just needed to take it.

"You need to go on a leave. It has been more than a year Kail and the last time you did I called you back early. I want you to take a week off and switch off your phone," Zyair ordered Kail, his hands elegantly steepled in front. He was seated in his office and Kail didn’t look very pleased at the prospect as he stood in front of his boss with his thick hands crossed on one another and legs spread out.

"Sir! I don’t need a vacation. Work is what I live for, I can’t be away from it," Kail replied in his gruff voice.

"You do. It’s important to refresh once in a while and get started again. The brain and body need to relax, one ought to get drunk at times and let loose." Zyair knowingly smiled at his bodyguard who had bunched up his heavy lips together, seeming unamused.

"Sir! I appreciate it but with Ma’am Skyla in this condition. I don’t want to abandon my duties," he voiced his concerns.

"That’s exactly the reason I am giving you leave now so you will be at your 100 per cent at the time we will welcome our child. We will need you more than anything at that time. You know how frenzied people and the media are going to get just to capture a picture or salvage any piece of news. So go enjoy yourself."

Zyair knew how important Kail would be for them in the next month when Skyla would be giving birth to their child. He had hired extra security and decided to give Kail some days off, the man had earned it after dedicating day and night to their security.

They couldn’t have gotten a better bodyguard than Kail. The man had eyes at the back of his head for he could always detect whenever someone was hiding or watching them from the corners. A lot of people stayed away when Kail was with them, especially from Skyla. He wouldn’t even let strange women in her proximity after many had tried to degrade her. He was done with them trying to berate his ma’am. All he needed to do was crack his knuckles and crane his neck and people would instantly disperse.

"Alright, Sir! But my cell phone will always be on. You need me, just give me a call." Kail gave in, seeing his boss was adamant in his proposal. Both of them got up at the same time. Zyair grabbed his coat from the backside of his executive chair and said.

"Will do. Drop me home and you can head out after that. Don’t forget to have fun."

Kail nodded his head at his boss’s request and they shook hands before heading out.

Dropping Zyair home, Kail stayed for a while with the security team. Instructing them on what needed to be done and ensuring they took their job seriously.

Kail left for his apartment. His job mostly kept him so busy that for days he was unable to go home.

His two-room apartment was nothing fancy but it was neat and there was cold beer in his fridge. He would just crash on the sofa and watch some TV. At night he could hit a bar and maybe find a woman to spend the night with.

At that, a very particular woman’s face flashed into his mind and he shook his head and drummed his temple.

His mind screamed.

"Bad bad Kail. That’s a very wrong notion. Stop thinking about that woman. All we did was fuck a few times. Doesn’t mean shit."

And yet you go running whenever she calls or messages you. Care to elaborate?’ The heart was not in sync with the brain.

"Well, she is something. Not whiny and so mature and the way she takes me....."

The daydreaming continued until he couldn’t take it anymore. He had a whole week of being idle and these thoughts were only going to turn into wet dreams. He frustratedly sighed, that’s why he never fucked the same woman twice.

Taking out his phone he used it as a fidget spinner, revolving it between his thumb and middle finger.

Kail contemplated for a few seconds before taking out her number. She had visited Angel City a month ago to visit Skyla and Zyair. As usual, they had a heated session and he couldn’t get her pleasurable moans out of his mind, the way her mouth hung open when he plundered her wet pussy.

She had asked him to reach out whenever he would visit Marica City. Erdith had even invited him a few times but with the kind of life he had, Kail had never seriously pondered over it. Maybe it was time to do that.

Taking out her contact he decided to text her. Although his heart had this growing uneasiness. What if she had found someone. Women her age usually sought a partner and he could by no means be that. They were just fuck buddies.

What wrong could a text do though, at the most she won’t reply. All the better, he wouldn’t be getting in trouble with his boss. If she did, he could have an enjoyable weekend. freēwēbnovel.com

He began to type.

[Hey. I am free this weekend. Want to hang out? I was planning to visit Marica City.]

Hitting send, he tossed the phone on the couch beside him, not expecting a reply. Picking up the beer which had perspiration oozing on its surface he took a swig.

His phone rang instantly. Placing the beer down he picked up the phone he saw she was calling him. A knowing smirk appeared on his face as he received the call and placed the phone on his ear.

"Kail!" Her nervous voice came through.

"Yes!"

"When are you coming? I will arrange a room for you." Expectations were so clear in her voice, there was no man in her life he deduced.

"Will tomorrow be fine?"

"It will be perfect. I will see you then and thank you for taking the initiative. I will be expecting you." Kail could sense the elation lacing her every word and now he couldn’t wait to hold her in his arms.

Amsilia had visited Skyla bearing gifts for her baby to come. The elderly woman had always wished for a grandchild and had even asked Skyla in the beginning for it. But that wasn’t meant to be.

Now, she was content that Skyla was bringing forward a life with someone who actually cared about her and the baby to be born.

"Keep observing the movements, some of them are night owls and will kick throughout the night. Staying awake and keeping you too," Amsilia revealed while observing the natural glow Skyla had from the pregnancy.

"Yes, usually I wake up from the kicking as if he or she is wrestling inside," Skyla told her with a giggle as Madame Maven brought them fresh mint lemonades. The weather had gotten hot and Skyla found the drink quite refreshing.

Amsilia accepted with a sad smile, she felt a tad alone after Maven had left. It had been ten years, but she understood Skyla needed her.

"No gender reveal? Couples nowadays do such fancy ones," Amsilia asked, taking a sip of the cold lemonade.

"We are keeping it a surprise although Zyair is a thousand times sure that it’s a girl." Skyla rolled her eyes, making Amsilia nostalgically laugh in the process.

"I get it. He wants a little princess who looks just like his wife. My husband used to be the same before he changed."

"I am sorry." Skyla reached out and pressed her hand.

"That seems like a lifetime away now. Let’s toast to the brighter future and healthy kid for you which will fill your life with all the goodness."

Both ladies happily clinked their glasses of lemonade together and cheered.
