"You are pregnant?"
His words echoed in their house as if spring had arrived early. As if the birds were singing melodies in the trees, as if the flowers were blooming, as if the world had become even more colourful.
And this woman in his arms with fire in her hair and now a child in her belly was the most precious being in the entire universe.
Skyla placed her clasped hands under her face and tilted her head sideways, blowing him a kiss she lovingly announced.
"You are going to become a father, Zy."
His deep ocean-like eyes had an unfathomable amount of emotions swimming into them and Skyla could decipher them all for his words had left him for the time being. He just watched her as if spellbound by this woman and the news she had given him.
Skyla shifted her hands and sandwiched his bewildered face in them, she said with a slight smile.
"Say something, please."
For a man who was hardly ever speechless, Skyla found it really adorable to see him struggle with words. That was the priceless reaction she wished to have a glimpse of.
"I—Is this real? Are you real? Or am I dreaming?" He asked, rather startled, perhaps afraid too that he might wake up and this beautiful reverie would disappear.
Skyla affectionately smiled, seeing he was still shocked.
"It’s the reality, Zy. I felt nauseated so we went to the doctor and she took a blood sample. Reports will come in a day but she said I could be pregnant so I did a pregnancy test and it came back positive. So it’s 95 per cent confirmed that I am pregnant. I know I should have waited but I was too excited to not share it with you," Skyla blurted out in one go.
The shock on his face dialled down a notch as her words further sunk in.
"Ohh! Sky, I can’t believe we are going to become parents," he cried out, plastering her to his chest, his arms protectively going around her shoulders. Zyair buried his delighted and yet shocked face in her shoulder.
"Same, I am in the same boat as you. It seems like a dream and I am afraid that I might wake up any second." Skyla slowly rubbed his back while his hand tenderly rested on her flat belly.
"I will accompany you to the doctor’s appointment. I wish to be there every step of the way." Zyair shifted her shirt up and dipping his head he placed a slow gentle love filled kiss on her belly and murmured against her skin.
"We will do everything together."
Skyla placed her hand on his head and kept him there prolonging the kiss, basking in his affections.
"Hey! Kiddo, I know you are just a cluster of cells for now but I still wish to introduce myself. I am your papa aka father aka dad or whatever you would want to call me. Just want you to know, I already love you and will always do," Zyair’s sweet whispers and cute idle talk made Skyla cackle with laughter and utter.
"You are being overdramatic."
"Nah! I am staking my claim. Telling her that she will always be loved and cherished."
"She?" Skyla amusedly questioned, as Zyair finally lifted his head and affectionately stared at her.
"It’s going to be a baby girl. I just know it." His hand stayed on her belly and the surety in his voice had Skyla’s smile broadening. Although she wanted a baby boy, she didn’t want to dampen his spirit so she stayed quiet.
"Come, let me take you to bed so I can properly thank my girl for making me the happiest man alive today." Zyair collected Skyla in his arms and stood up.
"Zy, we can’t have sex for now. We will have to be careful."
"Don’t worry, my love. There are plenty of other ways to show my gratitude and make you cum." He winked, his eyes brightening with promises of mischief. Skyla coiled her arms around Zyair’s neck and he lovingly carried her to their bed.

He insisted on opening it and Skyla was more than happy to let him.
"Go on."
His grin couldn’t have widened any further when he read the report. As expected the report was positive, indicating that Skyla was pregnant as the home kit had revealed.
"We are going to welcome a child together." The emotional undertones of his voice and his love-rendered eyes had her hugging him right outside the office of the gynaecologist. She didn’t care if anyone was watching. This was their moment.
"Come let’s see what the doctor says." Skyla and Zyair went inside and the doctor welcomed them, instantly recognising the famous couple.
"Good morning, Please! Have a seat." They settled down and Skyla showed her the blood report.
"Do I need to go through any more tests or is it confirmed?" Skyla carefully asked as Zyair held her hand and sat with finesse alongside his wife.
"Firstly congratulations on conceiving. For now, we will run some basic blood tests and I will give you folic acid and other vitamins. I will conduct an ultrasound next week so we can get something on the screen."
The doctor began her instructions. Zyair and Skyla carefully listened as she asked them to abstain from sex for at least the first three months. She also strictly forbade Skyla from taking any alcohol or stressing herself out.
The doctor instructed her to eat healthy food, do normal exercise and keep herself hydrated.
"Thank you! Doctor. I will ensure all of your instructions are followed," Zyair offered his gratitude.
"Here is my number. Keep it in case of any emergency." The doctor scribbled her number on the file she had made for Skyla and handed it to her.
Thanking the doctor and accepting the file both of them left the hospital.
Zyair bought all of the prescriptions from the pharmacy and they finally got in their car to head to their office. Taking her hand in his, Zyair gently inquired.
"Do you want to take the time off from the office?"
"Not yet, once my belly grows the size of a watermelon and I won’t be able to work, only then will I take the time off."
Zyair laughed at her analogy.
"As you wish but I won’t let you burden yourself and get buried in work. Let me know whenever you need to take the days off."
Lawrence joined them and seeing their radiant faces he instantly guessed something was going on.
"What is it? Both of you are glowing and smiling too much?" He suspiciously eyed them, with his left brow raised. Both of them passed meaningful glances to each other and Zyair nodded at Skyla, letting her take the lead on this.
"Oh! Lawrence, you are going to become an uncle. We are going to be parents soon." Skyla beamed at him, sending Lawrence in shock and making his jaw drop.
"For real?" He shouted in utter amazement.
"Yes!" Zyair passed him an assuring smile.
"My God! Best news ever, so happy for you both." He lunged at them both and they did a group hug together.
