Chapter 269: Returning Home

Zyair and Skyla returned to Angel City after one week of their honeymoon. Kail picked them up from the airport as they went straight to Meena Mansion. They had decided to spend the night here and then settle down in their place the next day.

"Welcome back!" Meena embraced them with open arms, the million-dollar smile on her face showed how excited she was to have them back.

"Thanks for having us." Zyair tightly hugged his mother followed by Skyla. Soon they went inside.

"Mom! How have you been?" Skyla asked as they sat down on the sofas to talk. Zyair settled opposite both women, letting them have this conversation.

"Good but I missed both of you. Did you have fun?" Said Meena.

"We did, it was a one-of-a-kind experience for me. Next time we will go on a vacation together." Skyla didn’t wish to leave Meena behind again. The honeymoon was over and next time they will go as a family. Zyair couldn’t help but gush at his wife and her wiseness. freёwebnovel.com

"Oh! No no, these old bones are better at home." Meena waved her hands and tried to brush it off.

"Skyla is right, mom. Next time we are taking you along. You need a vacation as well after working so hard," Zyair added to his wife’s words.

Meena pleasingly smiled at the couple, they were always so thoughtful of her. freewёbnoνel.com

"Your father always used to take me, it seems absurd going without him now." She was smiling but they could sense the sadness in her words.

"We will ensure you have a great time. Give us a chance," Skyla requested, taking her hand in hers. Meena couldn’t say no anymore.

"Let’s do it next time," she agreed.

"I already have a destination in mind," Zyair inserted and it was settled.

"Come, I have made your favourite dishes. Let’s have dinner."

Soon they settled around the dining table, laughing and enjoying the food Meena had prepared for them. Bitu joined as well, sitting on Skyla’s shoulder, he was accepting crumbs from her hand.

"Pretty Skyyy!" He had learnt her name too but insisted on calling her pretty too.

"I have brought something for you, Bitu." Reaching inside her bag, Skyla extracted a tiny bell tied along a red ribbon. Taking hold of his talon, Skyla carefully tied it along and fastened it.

"Now whenever you walk, it will ring." Meena and Zyair watched in amusement as the green bird shook his talon and let the tiny bell ring.

"Ding," he tried to imitate the sound and nuzzled in Skyla’s hand showing his appreciation.

"You are welcome, Bitu." Skyla cutely laughed at his actions.

"He missed you guys, he has become quite attached to you Skyla," Meena commented, dabbing her face with a napkin.

"Yes, he is adorable. I love him." Skyla kept patting the bird and feeding him..

They finished dinner and retired to the living room for more chit-chat with Meena. It was late into the night when they finally went to bed.

The next day they had to move to Skyla’s villa. Zyair and Meena had it fully arranged. All of Skyla’s belongings had been shifted there along with Zyair’s.

Zyair had also bought new furniture and other essentials that were needed.

After freshening up they joined Meena for breakfast.

"All of your wedding gifts I have sent them over. I hope both of you will enjoy opening them," Meena excitedly informed them.

"We will, thanks Mom, you are the best." Zyair offered a warm smile to his mother.

The breakfast ended soon and the newlyweds decided to head over to their villa and settle down.

Zyair and Kail placed their remaining luggage in the car.

Skyla hugged her mother-in-law and appreciated everything she had done for them.

"Thank you! For everything, I am forever indebted to you for the kindness and the way you accepted me with an open heart." She gently held her shoulders.

"You are like a daughter to me, Skyla. I always wished for one and it seems like my prayers have been heard. Don’t hesitate to visit or reach out if you ever need me," Meena lovingly answered. Every shard of doubt that ever existed in her heart had evaporated for she knew there couldn’t be a better girl for his son. She was kind and yet fierce when it came down to defending him.

"I will always be bothering you especially to come and eat those delicious dishes of yours."

Both of them giggled and hugged one last time before letting go.

Zyair came and embraced his mother.

"I love you and I will try to visit as much as possible. We might crash here on weekends too so we can get up late and be spoiled."

"I would love nothing less, my son. Go start your new life, I am proud of you."

With heavy but content hearts they separated and Meena let him go. It was his time to make his own home, start his family and find the peace he deserved so much.

They waved to her from the car as it rolled out of the driveway and drove away from Meena Mansion.

Bitu flew towards her and perched himself on her shoulder. As much as he loved Zyair and Skyla, he considered this his home and stayed with Meena.

"They will be happy, Bitu. We will visit them." With a content smile, she walked back inside her mansion.

Skyla and Zyair arrived outside Skyla’s villa, left to her by her parents and now bought back by Zyair. This was the place they had decided to make their home.

Two security guards had been posted outside the house and Kail would also be on duty most of the time.

The car halted and Zyair exited it, opening the door for Skyla. He offered her his hand which she graciously took. Lifting her eyes she cast a gleeful glance at the place which was her home for 21 years and now she was about to start her new marital life here.

Her eyes wavered to the One winged angel fountain and it still stood in the garden in all its majestic grandeur. A nostalgic smile crept up on her face and she was reminded of her parents.

"Come my love, let’s settle in our home." Zyair led her forward and they entered the place which had been restored to its former glory.

Zyair had tried to keep its originality and had only made renovations where it was absolutely necessary.

"Come, let me show you our bedroom and then we can open our gifts. We will later check the house and see if you need anything."

"I would love that," Skyla cheerfully answered, her heart bubbling with so much excitement.

Zyair threw the red-painted door open and revealed the room to her. They walked inside and the first object Skyla’s eyes fell on had it snatching away that smile of hers from her face.

It fell and anger replaced it, her whole body shook from it as her hands balled into tiny little fists. She lifted her hand and pointed with her index finger while asking Zyair in a tight tone.

"Why is that here?"
