Chapter 250: Call Me, Erdith
After having a detailed conversation with Azik, Skyla returned to the girls. All of them had gotten pretty drunk by then, so they called it a night.
"Thank you girls for making my night so special. I had a great time." Skyla hugged her drunken friends.
"Anything for my bestie," Huria quipped.
They stumbled out of the club and headed towards Skyla’s car, where Kail was waiting for them.
Seeing the four drunken women staggering towards him slightly shook the big burly man. He gulped down the saliva and steadied himself. He couldn’t let Skyla’s friends go home in such a state.
"Ma’am, I think I will give everyone a ride home. I will call my workmate and he will take away the other car," he addressed Skyla who could barely stand on her high heels.
"You are a true gentleman, Kail, no wonder others are asking me if you are single. Mawar, hand the keys to Kail," Skyla chuckled, others tittered with their hands on their mouths. Mawar began to fish inside her bag for the keys.
Leaving Kail slightly flustered, for such a huge man it felt weird for him to have flushed cheeks. But it did make him wonder who could be asking about him, although he didn’t dare ask.
Mawar handed him the Naruto keyring containing the keys to her car. He quietly took them, the keyring looked tiny in his extra large hands.
Erdith was keenly watching him with awe, the more she gazed at him the more she wished to graze those brawny arms of his with her fingertips.
Kail opened the doors for the girls and they filed inside giggling and staggering, making jokes with each other.
But only three people could sit in the back seat even when cramped together, Erdith was left standing outside so she was quick to take the passenger seat.
After ensuring that all the girls had put on their seat belts Kail took the driver’s seat and fastened his seatbelt. Turning the key in the ignition he started the car and side glanced at Erdith who had her eyes glued to him.
He gulped and tried to keep his focus on the road.
"Kail!" Skyla called him from the backseat.
"Yes, ma’am!" Always professional, short and curt.
"Are you single? Asking for a friend," Skyla and Mawar roared with laughter, Huria hooted while Erdith quickly lowered her gaze so as not to be caught.
But Kail’s cheeks burnt from embarrassment at the question. The feelings and love had no place in his line of work. He occasionally fucked but that was the extent of it. No emotional attachments, his life could end any day and he didn’t want to leave someone broken behind him.
"Ahm! No ma’am, I don’t do relationships," he simply answered, pouring a bucket of cold water on Erdith’s head with his answer.
She wasn’t deterred though, he was single which gave her slight hope.
"Don’t be so glum, Kail. Everyone needs love in life, you big bear." It was Huria with her teasing words, Kail had spent so much time outside her home guarding Skyla that she had developed this mutual respect and enjoyed teasing the man.
Kail pursed his lips and focused on his driving while the girls in the backseat snickered some more.
"I agree with Huria. You have to try and at least give someone a chance," Skyla added to her friend’s words, "Who knows someone might steal your heart, right Erdith?"
Erdith was lost in gawking at Kail and the way he drove the car like an adept driver. The veins in his strong hands bulged out and there was a tattoo under his index finger of a sword going through a crescent moon.
"Erdith?" Skyla called her out a bit loudly and she almost jumped from her seat, slightly startled.
"Yes, yes, what did you say?" She glanced back at her friend in perpetual stupor, making her knowingly giggle.
"Seems like Erdith is lost," Mawar added and winked at her.
Kail was trying to steer clear of this conversation with four drunken girls. He didn’t wish to lose his job, his boss would be extremely furious if he knew that he entertained such ideas with the girls. He silently prayed to make it through this journey without any drama or he would be doomed.
They arrived at Huria’s house and the ladies in the back all got down as Kail opened the door for them. Mawar was spending the night here while Erdith was staying at a hotel.
"Drop Miss Erdith at her hotel, she will guide you and think about what I said. Thank you for giving us a ride." Skyla as usual never failed to thank him.
"Yes, Ma’am!" He nodded in respect, keeping a stoic face. Kail ensured all three ladies entered the house and were safe inside. The other two bodyguards were on duty, so he signalled them and they returned it in understanding.
Kail got back in the car and side glanced at the lady. He had seen her once before when she had visited Kincaid International and knew she was the owner of some company and had remained loyal to Zyair in his hard time..
Since he preferred remaining in the shadows and liked to watch people instead of being watched he highly doubted she had seen him before.
But now she kept casting covert glancing at him, it made him wonder if she was indeed the friend Miss Skyla and Miss Huria were referring to.
"I am Erdith Kane, it’s nice to meet you.
Kail — right?" She finally spoke up, the woman had a mature voice and she didn’t speak like the girls who tried to act all sweet and lovey-dovey in front of a man to get his attention.
"Yes, ma’am!" He was formal with her as well. She was his boss’s associate, he had to be careful.
"Call me, Erdith. Your boss is not around." There was this authority in her voice. She seemed to have read his mind, there was a hint of tease in her voice. While his eyes were on the road in front he could feel her wandering gaze on him.
Where exactly was she looking?
His hands? Or his arms? Or somewhere else.
"Erdith!" He spoke in that dark and deep voice that sent a streak of current running through Erdith’s body, it heated it even further.
"Join me for a drink, can you? You are off-duty now," she expectantly asked.
These were very dangerous waters and she was calling him towards them like a siren. He didn’t wish to test them. His jaw tightened as he prepared himself to say no. He didn’t want any trouble.
Before he could say anything she spoke again in a voice that bordered on seduction. Her hand had landed on his thigh, revealing her intentions.
"Don’t say, no. Please!"
If it was difficult before, it was kind of impossible now. But he had to be straightforward with her before it escalated. So he finally turned his head to take her in completely and finally said.
"If you are looking for something casual, I don’t do gentle."
She snickered, tilting her head. freēwēbnovel.com
"Who said anything about, gentle?"
