Chapter 203: Welcoming Him Home

In the next few days, a lot of changes were made. Skyla’s essential luggage and her clothes were shifted from Huria’s house to Zyair’s apartment. Kail and Lawrence helped in the shifting.

Skyla finally went to meet her friend and thank her for everything she had done for her. Huria was a mixture of emotions seeing her friend go but mostly she was happy. She knew Skyla was in proper hands now, no one could love her more than Zyair.

"I will miss you. Don’t be a stranger, keep visiting," Huria asked, her voice quivering from the emotions she felt. Her lips slightly trembled.

"Will miss you too and you know very well it’s impossible to get rid of me," Skyla answered with a smile while hugging her best friend.

"Go now, before you make me cry," Huria chided her while separating from Skyla. They had lived together for so many months and Huria had gotten used to having her around.

They said their goodbyes and Kail guided her to the car. He was permanently with Skyla now whenever she left home like a shadow. Zyair had insisted that he was not to leave Skyla’s side at any cost.

Huria waved at them as the car sped away.

"Where to Miss Skyla?" He respectfully asked in his deep voice.

He was as tall as Zyair but more buffed and had tattoos covering most of his skin. The guy was scary with short black hair, cropped on the sides and a deep set of pitch-black eyes which always seemed alert and calculating. His thick veiny hands could punch the living bejesus out of someone.

"I would like to visit a gift shop and then go for groceries," Skyla informed him and he nodded before starting the car.

They parked outside a fancy gift shop and both of them went inside. The floral scents of different perfumes welcomed them as she began to walk past the pristine white shelves adorned with items one could gift their loved ones.

The shop was almost empty so Skyla took her time choosing what she was looking for. The nice lady on the counter wrapped it for her and offered a warm smile as Skyla thanked her.

The gift purchasing went smoothly so they headed to the grocery store. As usual, Kail followed her as she went grocery shopping but kept a distance of a few feet so as not to crowd her personal space.

The store was overcrowded, and a few people began to recognise her and began to murmur. Seeing the jeering looks Kail remained closer to her in case anyone tried to hurt her or do something funny.

Skyla ignored them and kept filling her cart with the essentials she needed. While she was choosing the cheese a woman who seemed like a fan of Doran spoke loud enough for her to hear as she walked past her.

"Bitches like you walk away freely while good men are thrown behind bars. You should be ashamed of yourself," she sneered, not caring in the least that her venomous words would be hurting Skyla.

Skyla turned to face her with a blank expression but a fiery stare in her eyes. She levelled her with it before calmly speaking to her.

"The good man will be free in a few months and you are free to have him. I hope you enjoy mental and physical abuse because you will get plenty. Good luck."

Her auburn curls bounced as she turned her head and placed the required cheese in her cart.

With one last lingering glance at the startled woman Skyla walked ahead with her head in the air. Kail followed behind with a meaningful smile on his usually stoic face.

Although Skyla was able to shut down the obnoxious woman, her mood was ruined. She wondered if that was how it was going to be every time she went outside to do something normal.

Will her life ever be normal again? Or was it ruined forever because of her marriage? Couldn’t people be less judgemental and let her be?

Hasn’t she been through enough already?

She quietly went through the process of paying for her groceries while Kail carried them out to the car.

Once they were en route to their apartment, Skyla requested Kail from the backseat of the car, her eyes finding him through the rearview mirror. Although he kept them straight on the road and never glanced back.

"Don’t say anything to Zyair about what happened in the store today. He is already quite wrapped up in work and I don’t want to add to his worries."

She sat poised with her hands resting in her lap but inside her heart was a mess.

"I won’t specifically tell the boss but if he asks me about a particular incident, I won’t lie," he answered, keeping his focus on his driving.

"I understand, thank you, Kail." she turned her head away and began to observe the busy life outside as people went about their way.

They reached home and Skyla offered some of the fruit and juice cartons she had bought to Kail as her token of appreciation for his hard work. She always offered him something and he always appreciated it.

The other guard took over the duty of watching the house as Kail placed all the groceries and other stuff inside the apartment and left.

Skyla freshened up, put away the groceries and began to cook a scrumptious dinner for Zyair and herself before he got home. He was held up at work and had a few business deals to complete.

She was making Chicken Alfredo, garlic bread and apple pie. He would come home to a romantic dinner, she wanted to show her appreciation for everything he had done for her.

Skyla had asked him to call her when he would get free and head home. She was just taking out the pie from the oven with her mitten-clad hand when her phone rang. Placing the pie on the kitchen counter, Skyla grabbed her phone. It was Zyair. She quickly swiped to receive the call and placed it on her ear.

"Hey! Beautiful, I am headed home. I missed you."

Skyla felt her heart melting from the feelings his words invoked in her. No such calls were ever made between her and Doran. He never cared what she cooked or baked. He never cared to tell her anything about his work even when she asked. He thought she was too dumb to understand.

"I missed you too, waiting impatiently," she answered with a smile that brightened her whole face.

"I will be there soon." The call ended and Skyla sped up to arrange the table before he arrived. She placed a few violets in a crystal vase and lit up the scented candles she had bought earlier. The lights were dimmed so they could have a romantic candlelight dinner.

She then rushed to their bedroom. His room was their room now and he had permitted her to make whatever changes she wanted.

A lot of Kakashi posters and figurines were added to the decor of the room, other than that she didn’t change much.

Skyla checked her hair to see if they were properly fixed and adjusted her teal-shaded slip dress. It had an ample amount of cleavage and the material was silky as it flowed against her smooth skin. The length was just below her hips and she liked that fact.

Skyla looked extremely sexy and very appealing. She was just exiting her room when she heard the front door opening. He was here, her heartbeat spiked as she rushed to meet him.

Zyair was hanging the keys when he saw her running to him. That alluringly tempting dress seemed to be sewn on her ravishing body. Her curls bobbed and her bosoms bounced making him engulf his saliva as his throat ached at the sight.

This was surely a sight he would love to come home to, whenever she chose to take the day off or leave early. He would never press her for he loved seeing her work alongside him but once in a while, he would give her a day off so she would welcome him like that.

He forgot everything and opened his arms to receive her. She hurried along and fitted in them like a key does in a lock. Hugging him so passionately. The peace both of them felt was insanely sweet.

"Welcome home!" She breathed in his chest letting his scent soothe her. Remnants of that bad mood disappeared and all that was left was his calming embrace. freёwebnovel.com

"Thanks, my love. You look ravishing, it seems like I will be having you for dinner." His seductive words fanned against her ear making them burn up and turn crimson.

This man always knew how to say the lewdest stuff in the most appropriate way, that indeed was a talent unique to Zyair Kincaid and she loved him for that.
