Chapter 190: Watching Him Sleep
The next morning’s breakfast was highly awkward for Rais and Huria. Both of them kept stealing glances at each other as if they wanted to say something but were hesitant.
Skyla was observing them with a knowing smile. She couldn’t stay quiet any longer.
"Both of you should talk." Skyla picked up her plate and walked away to fill it up with extra food.
She needed to check on Zyair as well. He always ordered food in his room but there hadn’t been a text from him this morning so she believed he might still be sleeping.
Skyla had been given an extra key to his room so she could visit him whenever she felt like. With the breakfast plate in her hand she proceeded to his room.
Unlocking his door, Skyla quietly entered his room and just like she had imagined, he was still in bed.
It was so unlike him, he always woke up early and it was already 9 am. Slowly she proceeded to where he was sleeping and placed the plate on the side table.
He was clutching a pillow using it to cuddle with while he slept on his stomach. Half of his face was hidden by his giant bicep, leaving only his closed left eye and strands of charcoal hair falling on top to be seen.
His bare back was half-exposed as his duvet had slipped down and the ripples of water from the top made shadows on his inked angel.
Beat. Beat. Beat.
Her heart was striking like a gong seeing him sleeping like an innocent child. Slowly she lowered herself on the floor and sat observing him with her hands on the bed beside him and her chin resting on them.
She didn’t want to wake him and she didn’t want to stop staring at him.
The urge to just touch his hair and shift them away from his face was real but she didn’t wish to disturb him. He hardly slept so peacefully, he had told her that sleep has not been his friend and with the demons he battled she could understand why.
Several minutes passed when he finally stirred and her heart beat even more rapidly than before. She wanted to hide so as not to be discovered gawking at him but she remained frozen in her place.
His arm moved away and his eyes flicked open only to collide with excited green ones. For a second Zyair thought he was dreaming but then realisation hit him.
She was here.
She was watching him.
For how long?
"Morning my sleepy Sensei!" She greeted, in her happy sing-song voice. Skyla’s hand reached out and finally brushed the locks away from his astonished eyes.
"My girl." His face split into a charming smile, his eyes danced in joy while his hand reached out to grab her waist and pull her underneath him.
The girl with red hair was more than happy to oblige. Zyair half climbed over her and tickled, making her squeamish and all giggly.
"How long have you been staring at me, you naughty girl? Why didn’t you wake me up?" He teased, nuzzling in her neck. She giggled some more, threading her hands in his gorgeously soft hair.
"You were sleeping so peacefully, I didn’t want to disturb you," she confessed, his lips nipped her starved neck.
Zyair halted and lifted his head to fall into those captivating swirling orbs of her. So much happiness oozed from them.
"Truth be told I was tired after my little stunt on the pole. It has been nine years since I did that. Although I exercise daily, pole dancing is a whole new game," he chuckled more to himself. Still not believing he did that when he had left that life behind.
"Aww! I am still in shock at how good you are. I am kind of surprised that I never saw you before. Huria and I used to visit Mirage quite often." Skyla cupped his face and placed a small kiss on the tip of his nose.
"Yes! I had seen Huria a couple of times but not you. I guess our timings didn’t match. I wasn’t very frequent on poles. My demand was more in private rooms and role plays. Other guys were more extroverted," he informed her but she could sense the pain masking his features now. He hid it well, he just couldn’t hide it from her.
"You don’t have to do it anymore. That part is over and no one is going to force you again." Skyla softly pressed her lips onto his, tasting them, caressing them, trying to absorb all his sorrows and pains.
He responded with full vigour but he let her exert control, let her kiss him the way she wished. She was bolder now, the Skyla he had seen nine years ago was slowly surfacing again now that she was no longer bound to that leech who had sucked her happiness dry and killed her confidence.
Finally breaking free, she placed a deep affectionate kiss on his forehead and whispered.
"I love you and I will be damned if I ever let anyone hurt you again."
Her claim was bold and firm and Zyair couldn’t help but lay down on her chest, seeking solace in their fluffy softness. His face squished as her arms wrapped around his head and pressed him down further.
"I know my love, I know you won’t. That’s why you are mine."
They stayed like that for a while until Skyla told him that she had brought him breakfast and it was getting cold. He got up and freshened before slipping into bed with her, still not bothering to put on a shirt.
He had her securely in his lap while she had the plate perched up in hers.
"Here, I will feed you today." She offered him small morsels of egg and toast and he relished in the feel of eating from her hands.
"Did you eat?" He asked while chewing, observing the Auburn curtain of her hair. The pin he had given her rested proudly in them.
"Yes, I was having breakfast with the lovesick birds from last night. And both of them looked so miserable stealing glances and not speaking up. So I thought I would give them some alone time to settle last night’s events," Skyla cackled placing her bent knuckle on top of her lips.
"Oh! Yes, they were all over each other last night. Now they need to talk like adults. I am hoping it works out between them," Zyair said, accepting another tiny bite from her. She fed him like she was feeding a little bunny instead of a grown man, with tiny cute morsels. He didn’t mind at all. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"Mr Rais seems like a man who can control the crazy in Huria." Skyla knew how her friend tended to get so wild and she was bored easily in relationships. It was difficult for her to hold a proper one.
One main reason was seeing Skyla struggle in her marriage. It had a strain on Huria and she didn’t want to get married, thinking it only trapped people. Rais could change that opinion though. Both Skyla and Zyair were counting on it.
Zyair ate every last piece of food in the plate and then he kissed her hands to thank her for bringing such scrumptious breakfast for him.
"You are the best," he told her with a kiss and she couldn’t help but blush.
"We should get ready, I will head off to check up on Huria now and see what she is up to."
Skyla unwillingly climbed out of his lap, he sadly nodded. They had to get ready for the beach.
Rais and Zyair had reserved some secluded spot where the four of them could go and enjoy. Girls were looking forward to it.
Skyla went to her room to get changed and found Huria happily humming while she sorted out different bikinis.
"Someone looks happy. Did you talk to Mr Rais?" Skyla flopped herself on the bed as Huria held out two bikinis for her friend to help her choose from.
"Yes, I was so embarrassed at first. The things I had said to my boss shouldn’t have been said. I am relieved though that you stopped me or I would have woken up in his bed. But he was so understanding, Sky. And he told me that he likes me more than an employee and would like to see where it goes. We will go slow and get to know each other better first."
Huria bubbled in excitement, the hangers in her hands rattled. Skyla’s face eased into a hearty smile. She jumped out of the bed and threw her hands around her friend.
"I am so glad. You deserve to be happy too, Huria and I think Mr Rais can be the one for you. Go slow and let this develop into something beautiful for the two of you."
