Chapter 58: Chapter 58: With Super Hearing, You Don’t Need Super Vision

Chapter 58: With Super Hearing, You Don’t Need Super Vision

It didn’t take a genius to guess it was that cripple, Blindspot. In the original show, Blindspot was an Asian Supe with super hearing who could echolocate in the dark. But when it came down to it, he was just a blind guy. His super hearing was nothing more than a compensation for his lost sight. Using super hearing to mimic eyesight—what kind of superpower was that? At most, it just made him a slightly beefed-up version of a healthy, ordinary human...

Benjamin genuinely couldn’t comprehend what the hell was rattling around inside Ashley’s brain. To actually think of jamming a combat-zero deadweight like this into The Seven, the team that was supposed to represent the pinnacle of combat power.

Standing to the side, Homelander’s expression darkened slightly. He loathed other people interfering with the roster arrangements for The Seven. In his subconscious, within the entirety of Vought International, only he and his father, Benjamin, had the right to decide who was qualified to stand by their side.

Homelander smiled and said, "Oh? Really? Great, let’s go have a look then. Lead the way."

Before long, the three of them arrived at a high-end combat training room inside Vought. Inside the training room, Blindspot was holding a spear, eyes covered, performing an exceptionally flashy display of backflips, combos, and blind strikes against wooden training dummies. Completing his routine, Blindspot struck a precise final pose, identifying the intruders through his super hearing.

Blindspot turned around, facing the direction of the main doors, his tone overflowing with starstruck awe. "Mr. Soldier Boy! Mr. Homelander! It is an absolute honor to see you!"

Homelander clasped his hands behind his back, tilting his head slightly. "Wait... did you say you can see us?"

Blindspot offered a confident smile, pointing to his own ears. "Yes, sir. I have no vision, but my hearing allows me to see you. So, when you have super hearing, who needs super vision?"

The moment the words left his mouth, Homelander was just about to praise him as a true hero...

Thud!

Benjamin stepped forward and leveled Blindspot with a single punch.

Blindspot was knocked flat onto the floor, blood gushing from his nose. He curled on the ground, clutching his face and howling in agony. Benjamin slowly pulled back his fist. freёwebnoѵel.com

Standing nearby, Ashley gasped, clamping her hands over her mouth. She knew Soldier Boy was prone to hazing his teammates, but those beatings usually had a reason. Ashley couldn’t comprehend why Soldier Boy was brutalizing Blindspot right now.

Benjamin paced step by step up to the groaning Blindspot. "’With super hearing, you don’t need super vision.’ That’s what you just said, right, you worthless piece of trash?"

"Pop your fucking super ears open and listen close! My son, Homelander, has super vision! Are you trying to say my son doesn’t fucking need his eyes?"

Hearing this, Homelander froze. He cast a glance at Benjamin, his inner thoughts completely unreadable. Because he had genuinely felt a surge of anger at that comment... and his father truly understood him, truly knew him... frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Blindspot clutched his bleeding nose, begging for mercy: "I-I’m sorry, sir! I didn’t mean it like that! I know I messed up! Please, have mercy, let me go!"

Homelander turned his head, locking his gaze onto Ashley. "Ashley, look at me." Homelander offered a tight smile. "Explain to me, very carefully, why you brought this pathetically weak cripple in front of us? Tell me, what made you think he was qualified to join The Seven?"

Ashley scrambled to explain, "I thought... I thought that by onboarding a disabled superhero, we could secure a massive spike in approval ratings from the disabled demographic..."

"Ashley!" Benjamin spun around, cutting her off completely. "Did everything I said go through one ear and out the other? Are you fucking deaf? Vought International is a real superhero company now! The Seven represents the absolute pinnacle of American Supes. Roster spots on The Seven aren’t tokens for you to put on a goddamn publicity stunt for your miserable political correctness!"

"Don’t you fucking forget that this world still has Supe-Terrorists and armed thugs running around. You think when they face this blind bastard, they’re going to hold back their fire just because he’s disabled? If you actually put Blindspot on the team just for your precious approval metrics, you’re actively ruining him. To put it bluntly, you’re murdering him!"

These words didn’t just snap Ashley out of it; even Blindspot, who had been writhing and howling on the floor, went completely quiet. Holding his bloodied face, he sat on the floor, utterly stunned. What Soldier Boy said... actually made sense. In a twisted way, this beating might have genuinely saved his life.

"I’m sorry, sir! I recognize that my combat capabilities are entirely lacking. Please, just give me a chance to stay at Vought! I’ll train as hard as I can, I’ll strive to get stronger!" Blindspot scrambled to promise, his tone overflowing with desperate sincerity, completely ignoring the blood still pouring from his nose.
