Chapter 1330: Chapter 691: Mo Han and Wanwan – Have You Ever Considered Me as Your Mother?
In the bedroom, Xi Mohan held a phone in one hand and took a shirt out of the wardrobe with the other. He spoke calmly to the person on the other end, "We’ll talk about other matters after I return from the business trip. Make sure to keep someone monitoring Ning Zezhen’s side. Don’t make any mistakes, and definitely don’t let him notice."
The person on the line acknowledged with an "uh-huh," agreeing readily.
Xi Mohan hung up the phone.
He was just about to set the phone aside to pack his belongings for the trip, when it rang again. He glanced at the caller ID and saw that it was his mother.
The man’s gaze deepened as he lightly pursed his thin lips. Finally, just before the call could go to voicemail, he swiped to answer and brought the phone to his ear, greeting nonchalantly, "Mom..."
Before Xi Mohan could say more, his mother immediately asked, "Mohan, is Ning Wan with you?"
She cut straight to the question without any superfluous words, getting directly to the point of her call.
Her tone barely resembled one used for a son.
Hearing this, Xi Mohan furrowed his brows but directly admitted, "Yes."
He was already used to his interactions with his mother; this was nothing new for him.
Perhaps no one else had a mother-son relationship like theirs, so distant it was almost like they were mere acquaintances, slightly better than strangers.
Upon hearing his affirmation, his mother’s tone turned instantly displeased, and she spoke slowly and deliberately, "Mohan, have you forgotten what I told you? Who is Ning Wan? Have you forgotten how she once caused our family so much trouble? I have repeatedly told you, why won’t you listen?"
Hearing these words, the man’s expression darkened, but he didn’t get angry. Instead, he replied calmly, "Mom, if there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now."
"Mohan." Xi Mother’s voice was even more unhappy, it raised a notch as she practically spat through clenched teeth, "Do you even regard me as your mother?"
Xi Mohan forced himself to suppress his impatience, responding deliberately, "If I didn’t regard you, I wouldn’t call you ’Mother,’ nor would I do so much considering your needs. Since you’ve brought it up, you should know the kind of person your son is."
After saying that, he didn’t wait for Xi Mother to speak again and abruptly hung up the call.
At the Xi Family’s old house, Xi Mother stared at her phone, which her son had just hung up on, feeling her anger rising swiftly. Losing her temper, she hurled the phone at the floor.
Her son was increasingly evading her expectations; the entire Xi Family was under his control, and as his mother, she could no longer continue as she did before.
As she considered this, she found herself increasingly unsettled, stood up, and called the butler, "Butler, prepare the car immediately."
She could not afford to remain passive.
The butler acknowledged and quickly went to make the arrangements.
