Chapter 1328: Chapter 689: Mo Han and Wanwan Arc – He Must Be Blind to Find Her Cute

Auntie Li looked at Xi Mohan’s back. She had originally wanted to say something more, but in the end she swallowed all the words back down into her stomach, stood there for a long moment, then turned around and went back to the kitchen to continue preparing afternoon tea for Ning Wan—though now she had to add a serving for their mister as well.

...

After meeting with Ning Yan’er, those words Ning Yan’er said really gave her quite a shock. She even started to doubt whether her parents’ deaths actually had something to do with her.

She sat directly on the bed, hugging her knees with both arms, her head resting on them as she stared blankly off in some direction. She had no idea how long she’d been in that position; she looked like her soul had left her body.

Her mind at this moment was no longer here. Her head was a complete mess, all mush; she didn’t even notice when Xi Mohan came in.

Only when a figure suddenly appeared in front of her and blocked all the light did she finally come back to herself a little and slowly lift her eyes to look at the man standing before her.

Xi Mohan had already taken off his suit jacket on his way up. He was only wearing a shirt, with two buttons undone. As soon as she looked up she could see the man’s solid muscles, giving off the feeling that he was trying to seduce someone with his body.

The man looked down at her from above, his face as expressionless as ever, but in his eyes there was a clear trace of dislike. He spoke faintly, "Ning Wan, has no one told you that you look a bit sloppy right now?"

Ning Wan blinked, her face full of confusion.

She was sloppy?

Where was she sloppy?

This was the first thing this man said when he came in?

Seeing her confused little look, Xi Mohan pressed his lips together, the dislike in his eyes growing stronger and stronger, but he still bent down and suddenly picked her up from the bed in a bridal carry.

The sudden loss of balance once again made Ning Wan feel as though she’d been startled. She almost screamed out instinctively, and her fair, pretty fingers grabbed onto the man’s shirt. After a moment to steady herself, she spoke, her tone almost tinged with anger. "Xi Mohan, what exactly are you trying to do? Put me down."

The man pursed his lips without a word, holding her as he headed straight for the bathroom, his steps steady.

Not until they walked into the bathroom did Ning Wan catch sight of herself in the mirror. She froze for a second, then couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing with a "pfft."

Xi Mohan, on the other hand, looked at her like he was looking at a lunatic, his tone also laced with disdain. "You’re still laughing? Just look at yourself, you’re filthy."

The girl only laughed even harder, and she didn’t forget to lift her head to look at him. She blinked, her tone full of amusement and mischief as she said, "Don’t you think I actually look kind of cute like this?"

Cute?

He’d have to be blind to think she looked cute like this.

Her face was all dirty; for someone with his level of cleanliness, this was a bit hard to accept.

The man lowered his eyes to look at her; the disgust in his gaze didn’t lessen, it deepened. His thin lips pressed together and he said nothing.

But even without speaking, the expression on his face already made everything perfectly clear.

Ning Wan coughed awkwardly, but there was still a smile on her brows as she said directly, "Alright, alright, just put me down. I’ll wash up."

That morning she’d had a sudden impulse and borrowed a set of makeup from a maid to put some on herself. When she’d just finished, it actually looked pretty good, but she didn’t know if it was because the makeup quality was too poor or because she was just too careless; the makeup on her face had completely smudged, making her look like a big tabby cat.

Especially her hair, which was still a bit messy from earlier movements. She looked like she’d just escaped from a mental hospital.

This time Xi Mohan did put her down right away, then turned around and walked out without a word.

Ning Wan watched his back, but didn’t say anything. She just started washing her face.

When she finished washing and came out, she saw Xi Mohan standing out on the balcony smoking. The thin smoke curled around the man’s body, making him look even harder to read.

Ning Wan had been thinking about whether she should walk over or not. While she was hesitating in place, the man who’d been smoking seemed to sense her. His hand paused, and then his thin lips parted as he spoke to her in a faint tone, spitting out two words, "Come here."

Ning Wan, "..." That commanding tone was really... annoying.

It made her feel like she was his maid or something.

She’d originally wanted to act a bit tsundere and refuse to go over, but in the end, remembering that this was his territory, she dawdled for a while and then reluctantly walked over.

But probably because she didn’t like the smell of smoke, as soon as she stepped onto the balcony and caught a whiff of it, she instinctively furrowed her brows. The moment she stepped onto the balcony, her footsteps halted, and the foot she’d just put forward drew back. She hid herself behind the balcony door, only sticking out half her head. "Wha... what is it?"

Watching her movements and reaction, Xi Mohan was clearly a bit displeased. His voice cooled a few degrees. "What are you hiding there for?"

Ning Wan, "Why would I go out there?"

The man’s face darkened. "I told you to come out, so come out. What are you dawdling for?"

Ning Wan, "..."

She simply didn’t move, her whole body hiding behind the door. She didn’t even show her nose or her mouth, just her forehead and a pair of eyes.

The two of them just stared at each other like that, one outside the door, one behind it.

In the end it was Xi Mohan who couldn’t stand it anymore. He stubbed out the cigarette in the ashtray, then strode quickly toward Ning Wan and yanked her out from behind the door.

Ning Wan, in her teens, was only about one-sixty tall. Among girls her age her height was actually a bit on the taller side, but in front of a man who was one-ninety, she seemed really small.

Xi Mohan grabbed her in one go and her feet left the ground immediately. She was completely like a child being lifted up by an adult, which instantly made Ning Wan unhappy.

This man really was treating her like a kid?

Yes, she wasn’t an adult yet, but she wasn’t that little anymore. Otherwise, how could she have liked him for so many years?

After hauling her onto the balcony, Xi Mohan caged her in between his chest and the wall. He lowered his head to look at her, his thin lips parting as he asked, "What did Ning Yan’er say to you?"
