Chapter 1324: Chapter 684: Mo Han and Wanwan Arc – Sleeping Together

Inside the old residence of the Ning Family, Ning Yan’er sat in her room, and upon hearing Xi Mohan’s somewhat indifferent tone, her heart ached. However, she quickly composed herself and forced a smile, speaking softly, "Mohan, is Wanwan with you? We couldn’t find her after the funeral, and her phone is off... both Grandpa and I are quite worried about her."

As she said this, she really did appear to be genuinely concerned about Ning Wan.

On the other end of the line, Xi Mohan remained silent for a moment before speaking slowly, "She’s here with me. You’ve reminded me, I’ll call Mr. Ning about it."

Ning Yan’er’s face instantly lost color, paling significantly, "You... you’ve let her stay with you?"

The man responded with a faint "hmm".

She immediately felt a sharp pang of pain in her chest. She had never been personally taken to Xi Mohan’s villa, nor had she stayed there. She hadn’t even visited his usual residence, only the occasional places he went to.

And now, Ning Wan was staying at his villa.

The thought of Xi Mohan being alone with Ning Wan made her feel as if she knew her husband was cheating, her eyes brimming uncontrollably with anger and madness.

Her fingers clenched into fists until the pain in her palm brought her back to her senses, her voice strained as she spoke, "Mohan, isn’t it inappropriate for Wanwan to stay there? Her... her uncle and aunt have just passed away, she..."

In the study of the villa, Xi Mohan had already moved to stand by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the scenery. On hearing Ning Yan’er’s words, he couldn’t help but squint slightly, before responding slowly, "She’s currently not suitable to stay at the Ning Family residence, I have maids here to take care of her. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up..."

"Mohan, I..."

"Is there anything else?"

"No... nothing."

The next second, Xi Mohan hung up the phone.

Listening to the dialing tone indicating the call had ended, Ning Yan’er’s face twisted with rage. Unable to control her temper, she threw her phone onto the floor, which immediately shut off.

Ning Zezhen happened to come looking for Ning Yan’er, and upon entering the room and seeing his daughter’s furious expression, he was startled, quickly stepping inside, "Yan’er, what’s wrong?"

Ning Yan’er turned to her father with a near-tearful expression, "Dad, I really want Ning Wan to die right now. I just wish she wouldn’t exist in this world anymore."

Upon hearing his daughter’s words, Ning Zezhen’s face turned, swiftly moving forward, "Yan’er, what kind of talk is that? You mustn’t say those things again, understand? If your Grandpa finds out, your uncle and aunt’s deaths will be exposed."

But Ning Yan’er was already on the verge of losing her mind, her hands clenched into fists, almost gritting her teeth as she spoke, "But how could Ning Wan shamelessly go to Mohan’s house to stay? Just because her parents have died, does she show up pitifully in front of Mohan? So Mohan thinks she’s pitiful and takes her in?"

She didn’t say Xi Mohan brought Ning Wan back, but directly accused Ning Wan of shamelessly going to Xi Mohan.

Ning Zezhen’s expression changed, "You’re saying Ning Wan went to stay at Mohan’s place?"

Ning Yan’er’s tears fell directly as she nodded.

Ning Zezhen’s face immediately darkened, stepping forward to pat Ning Yan’er’s shoulder, "I’ll handle this matter, don’t make any rash moves for now. If your Grandpa suspects anything’s amiss, we’ll all be kicked out of the Ning Family."

If they were kicked out of the Ning Family, all his years of effort and risky endeavors would be in vain.

He was calculating every step carefully now, not allowing any mistakes.

Ning Yan’er felt somewhat relieved by her father’s words but couldn’t help asking, "Dad, what are you going to do?"

Ning Zezhen’s expression was sinister, speaking almost malevolently, "I’ll ruin that little brat Ning Wan’s reputation."

"But won’t this implicate the Ning Family?" Ning Yan’er was still a bit worried.

"Don’t worry, your dad knows what he’s doing."

This reassured Ning Yan’er considerably, as she was also afraid her father might do something outrageous that would end up implicating the Ning Family.

...

Past two in the morning, the study door opened, and Xi Mohan walked out, his face now showing signs of fatigue.

His focus had not been on work these past few days, and a lot of work had piled up unprocessed. Tonight, pouring all his thoughts into work, he was suddenly busy enough to lose track of time, realizing it was past two when everything was done.

He rubbed his temple, feeling terribly uncomfortable, and was about to return to the bedroom when he noticed Ning Wan’s door not fully closed, with light spilling out from inside.

His steps halted, and the next second he turned and walked towards Ning Wan’s room.

The night air this season was still very hot, and upon walking in, Xi Mohan saw the girl lying on the bed without a quilt, dressed in pajamas, her sleeping posture made him frown.

Despite there being air conditioning in the room, the little girl hadn’t turned it on; was she trying to save his electricity bill?

The balcony door was open, letting in some breeze, but it wasn’t cool enough. Xi Mohan stood there, and he could still feel a bit of the heat.

His brows furrowed as he glanced at Ning Wan on the bed, eventually walking to the bedside table, found the air conditioning remote, and turned it on without hesitation, then left the room without closing the door.

Twenty minutes later, he returned wearing a night robe, carrying a quilt in his arms, first looking at Ning Wan, who was curled up asleep.

Seeming to feel a bit cold, Ning Wan was almost curled into a ball, like a little dumpling.

After closing the guest room door and locking it, Xi Mohan walked to the bedside and covered Ning Wan with the quilt, closed the balcony door himself, then turned off the lights in the room, and lay down on the other side.
