Chapter 1317: Chapter 677: Mo Han & Wanwan Arc – Ning Wan Falls into a Feverish Coma

Who says Xi Mohan and Ning Wan are impossible? If they are, he’ll stream himself eating a keyboard.

Any seeing person could tell from a glance that Xi Mohan does have feelings for Ning Wan.

But... probably even Xi Mohan himself doesn’t know it yet.

Zuo Yuqing walked back to Lu Jingchen’s side and softly asked, "Do we need to wait for Mr. Xi?"

Lu Jingchen came to his senses, looked at Zuo Yuqing, and said calmly, "No, we don’t need to. Let’s head back now, unless there’s somewhere you’d like to go?"

Zuo Yuqing thought for a moment before shaking her head, "No, how about we go to the cinema and watch a movie?"

This would count as their first date. Most couples choose the cinema for a date, and she hadn’t been there yet.

Watching a movie?

Lu Jingchen frowned slightly, clearly not very interested in going.

Seeing his reaction, Zuo Yuqing immediately understood his thoughts. Though a bit disappointed inside, she still said, "There don’t seem to be any good movies now. Let’s head out first, and if there’s anywhere you’d like to go, just let me know, and I’ll accompany you."

It seemed that Zuo Yuqing might really be falling for or had fallen for Lu Jingchen, which led her to be a bit accommodating now.

But Lu Jingchen glanced at her and said, "Let’s go watch a movie first, and then I’ll take you home later."

With those words, he took her hand and led her outside.

Ning Yan’er initially wanted to follow when she saw Xi Mohan carrying Ning Wan, but she had only taken two steps when Grandpa Ning stopped her immediately.

"Yan’er, stay with me. Your parents have gone to the restroom and haven’t returned yet. I can’t manage on my own," said Grandpa Ning with a weary tone, leaving no room for refusal.

Ning Yan’er halted, biting her lip and glanced at the receding figures of Xi Mohan carrying Ning Wan. Reluctantly, she nodded, "Okay, Grandpa, if you’re tired, you can sit down and rest."

Though she said that, she still looked somewhat unwillingly in the direction Xi Mohan and Ning Wan had left. Hearing the conversation between Zuo Yuqing and Lu Jingchen, she couldn’t help but feel envious.

If only she and Xi Mohan could be like that.

...

From the moment Ning Wan was picked up by Xi Mohan, she could no longer hold on and immediately fell unconscious. Xi Mohan was the only one who noticed this.

Looking at the girl in his arms with tightly shut eyes, a flash of panic appeared on the man’s face. He quickened his pace towards the lounge.

He also noticed a problem: when he touched Ning Wan’s skin, the girl felt unusually warm, indicating she had a fever. She was so thin that handling her felt uncomfortable.

This morning, when he took her to the Ning Family’s old house, she seemed fine, showing no signs of fever. Yet now, she was burning up. Instead of going to the lounge through the side door, Xi Mohan directly exited the funeral home.

Just as they reached the parking lot, they encountered Lu Jingchen and Zuo Yuqing coming out of the funeral home.

Lu Jingchen was slightly taken aback seeing Ning Wan unconscious in Xi Mohan’s arms. He quickly walked toward them and asked, pointing at Xi Mohan, "Mohan, what... what did you do to the young girl to make her pass out?"

Xi Mohan’s face darkened, speaking gloomily, "What could I have done to her? Open the car door for me."

"You didn’t do anything to her? Then why is she unconscious? Did you hit her to make her faint?" Even while saying this, Lu Jingchen walked over and opened the car door for him to put Ning Wan inside.

"She passed out from a fever," Xi Mohan, who didn’t want to explain, found himself saying instinctively. Then he looked up at Zuo Yuqing and said, "Miss Zuo, could you please help me take care of her?"

Lu Jingchen objected, "Why should Yuqing take care of her?"

"Because I have to drive, or do you want to take care of her?" Xi Mohan glanced at him coolly.

Lu Jingchen was momentarily speechless, "..."

Despite some reluctance inside, his eyes fell on Ning Wan, whose face was flushed with an unusual redness, clearly indicating a high fever. Her parents had just passed away, and now she was sick—it felt quite pitiful. So he let Zuo Yuqing help Xi Mohan take care of Ning Wan.

The date couldn’t continue now, but when Zuo Yuqing sat in the car and felt Ning Wan’s burning forehead, she was startled, the date instantly forgotten. "She has a high fever; she needs to go to the hospital immediately, or it might harm her body."

Ning Wan’s forehead was alarmingly hot, as if she were in a furnace.

With a serious expression, Xi Mohan looked at Lu Jingchen, "Are you riding in my car or driving your own?"

Lu Jingchen hesitated, probably concerned that his little girlfriend might not manage alone, and mainly worried that Xi Mohan, given his current state, shouldn’t be driving, as any mishap could lead to worse problems.

After a moment’s thought, he said, "I’ll ride with you. Leave my car here; I’ll call my secretary to pick it up later."

He paused, then added, "I’ll drive, and you make sure to take care of Ning Wan in the back so she doesn’t touch my girlfriend."

Xi Mohan, "...Shut up!"

...

When Ning Wan woke up, the city lights had already come on outside. A lamp was on in the hospital room. Her first feeling upon waking was a feeling of discomfort throughout her body, especially in her head, which felt heavy as if weighed down by a large rock, prompting a small moan from her.

"You’re awake?"

Before she opened her eyes, a familiar voice reached her ears.

That deep voice sent a shiver through her, making her open her eyes abruptly to see a handsome face before her.

Xi Mohan stood by the bed, looking down at her. As he saw her wake, he breathed a visible sigh of relief, then resumed his usual detached demeanor, "Since you’re awake, get up and have some porridge."

Ning Wan blinked a few times, frowned, and asked, "Why am I here?"

The man’s eyes darkened as he continued to stare at her, responding with a question, "Don’t you know why you’re here?"

With an innocent face, Ning Wan replied, "I remember I was at the funeral home before..."

She trailed off, her expression changing. Then she threw back the covers, ready to get out of bed.

——After coughing for half a month still not recovering, can anyone tell me, am I cursed?
