Chapter 985: Chapter 985: The Duke Appears
Victor Ford hadn’t known Summer Monroe for long, but he inexplicably trusted her.
When he heard Summer say this, he immediately acknowledged that Summer had indeed graduated from Britton University.
In admiration, he reminded the dazed Holly Holloway: "Holly, you’re ranked sixth, so you can join me for the Britton University admissions test."
Holly struggled to recover from the news of Summer already graduating from Britton University, and upon hearing this, her mind went blank again.
Surprise, joy, panic—all kinds of emotions made her blush.
She bit her lip and asked Summer, "Sadie, why didn’t you tell me earlier?"
Summer spoke softly: "I wanted to tell you sooner. Although you’re sixth, I don’t need this quota, so it’s yours. But you never gave me a chance to mention it..."
Holly’s eyes turned red, and she hugged Summer excitedly.
"Thank you, Sadie, thank you..."
Summer hugged Holly back with one arm and rubbed Holly’s head with the other.
However, neither noticed a pair of dark eyes coldly observing them.
It wasn’t a look meant for humans, clearly that of a forest king eyeing prey.
The man was tall, dressed in a black suit, hidden in the auditorium’s shadows. By deliberately slowing his breathing to decrease his presence, not even mosquitoes noticed him, let alone people.
As a result, he had been standing there for over half an hour, since Summer started answering questions until now, yet no one realized he was there.
Just then, a shadow swiftly flashed by the auditorium door and approached the man.
"Duke. That’s Summer Monroe."
The man raised an eyebrow slightly: "Indeed, her appearance is exceptional."
"Should we act now? There’s a lot of people here; it might not be convenient."
"Fool, of course not now!"
"Understood. Then... when should we take action?"
"Let’s observe first. If she can be recruited, dealing with Damian Knight will be much easier."
The subordinate was stunned, asking: "You won’t kill her?"
"Cathaysia has a saying, ’The more friends, the more paths you have.’"
As the man’s words fell, he suddenly sensed something amiss and glanced toward the door.
Only to see a strikingly handsome face faintly visible in the dim light.
"Is it him?"
His eyes showed doubt, seemingly wondering why that person would appear here.
"Duke," the subordinate said: "There’s something I forgot to report. The King’s useless son, for some reason, has also been keeping an eye on Summer Monroe. He’s been frequenting Crestfall University daily and even joined the prep class Summer is in."
"That’s really strange... What connection could there be between these two?"
"Then the plan to abduct Summer Monroe..."
"Put on hold. First, let’s figure out Arron’s intentions in approaching Summer, then act. We must avoid offending Trevia for now."
"Yes!"
The two exchanged glances and quietly exited through another door of the auditorium.
Just then, the ceremonial lady brought the first auction item onto the stage.
As soon as the item was presented, everyone’s attention was drawn to it, nobody looked back, and thus no one noticed Arron’s sudden appearance.
It was a model of Crestfall University carved from marble, beautifully shaped, even depicting a few students walking on campus meticulously.
"This craftsmanship... is quite good." Summer Monroe nodded slightly, acknowledging the sculptor’s skill.
