Chapter 162: Vivienne? And sister?
Ignoring her heated gaze, Lucian slowly lifted his head away from hers before leaning against the cold wall behind him.
He let out a deep breath.
Even he could still feel the lingering heat coursing through his body, but he pushed those impulses aside, not wanting to give in to temptation right now… especially not after stopping her himself.
Lia, seeing him like that, stopped thinking nonsense and tried to ignore the heat pooling in her intimate place—though it was very difficult to think straight when Lucian was still sitting right in front of her.
While she was sitting on his lap, so close that she could hear his slow heartbeat, which had gradually grown faster.
Neither of them spoke.
Nearly a minute passed like that, then—
Lucian let out another long sigh, and rather than allowing the awkward atmosphere to become even stranger…
He changed the subject.
“What did you do during these two weeks?”
The sudden question instantly caught Lia off guard. After everything that had happened, his words didn’t quite fit the moment they were having.
For a brief second, she even wondered whether he had simply forgotten everything she had confessed moments ago.
But then she noticed him subtly looking away.
And…
Realisation immediately dawned on her.
He hadn’t forgotten.
It was just that… he was embarrassed.
‘Brother is so cute!’
Lia couldn’t help squealing internally as she continued staring at his slightly reddened ears.
She had never imagined she would get to witness this adorable, flustered side of him.
Even now… she felt an irresistible urge to move forward and take a bite out of him. But since that would be far too embarrassing to do…
She took another deep breath, silently scolding herself while firmly suppressing the impulse.
Another few moments passed before she finally answered.
Or at least tried to.
“I-I… I…”
Her voice barely came out properly due to the embarrassment that hadn’t diminished one bit. Despite how bold she felt in her mind, the exact opposite was true outwardly.
Seeing her struggle…
Lucian unexpectedly let out an amused chuckle.
Trying his best to ignore his still-visible erection—which had finally started to subside gradually—he wrapped one arm around her waist once again, gently pulling her closer before his other hand resumed stroking her soft hair.
Despite being a vampire…
Despite possessing skin that could even be called bloodless, he could still clearly feel the gentle warmth radiating from Lia beneath his fingertips.
And since she was a fire-affinity user… coupled with her bloodline, her body was naturally warmer than usual.
Lia immediately closed her eyes in satisfaction. Without realising it, she leaned into his hand, lightly rubbing against his palm like a spoiled cat seeking affection.
Although they had already drunk each other’s blood a few minutes ago, the lingering scent coming from her body was still tempting him, rekindling the desire to sink his fangs into her neck once again.
And judging by the emotions flowing through the blood bond…
Lia wasn’t much different.
She was trying just as hard to restrain herself.
“So… ” Lucian gently continued, combing his fingers through her hair.
“Answer me. What did you do during these two weeks?”
Lia’s eyes blinked open, almost forgetting his previous question.
After quietly looking at him for several seconds, she finally answered.
“For the first few days…”
Her voice came out noticeably quieter.
“I was depressed because…
Because of that disturbing title that I received.”
Lucian’s brows furrowed faintly.
A trace of guilt flashed across his eyes.
If he hadn’t left for training…
If he had stayed here…
Perhaps she wouldn’t have spent all those days carrying everything by herself.
Lia seemingly understood exactly what he was thinking, and though she wanted to tell him that none of it was his fault… she didn’t.
She remained silent, partly because she was still a little angry at him.
After all… she had gathered every ounce of courage she had to make a move… only to be stopped at the very last second.
Even if she understood why, it still stung.
Shoosing not to dwell on those thoughts any further, she continued.
“After that…
Sister Vivenne came to me.
She told me and explained that I should train so that…”
Her voice suddenly trailed off as she stopped herself from continuing any further.
She couldn’t just outright tell him that the reason she had started training was so she could finally be with him forever.
“Wait,” Lucian suddenly interjected.
“Sister Vivienne?” he repeated, his eyes widening in surprise as he wondered whether he had heard her correctly.
Lia looked at him before giving a small nod.
“Yes, she trained me for these two months…
And… since she’s practically my cousin… I started calling her sister.”
Lucian blinked a few times.
“And…
That woman accepted it?”
Lia nodded once more.
She wisely chose not to mention what had actually happened—how unbelievably awkward Vivienne had become after hearing her call her Sister.
Or how Lia had burst into laughter, which had eventually resulted in Vivienne dragging her straight back into training and beating her until she was barely able to stand, despite her regeneration.
Although she had initially disliked the woman…
These past two months had changed that completely, and somewhere along the way, the junior redhead had truly begun to feel like an older sister.
Lucian remained silent for another moment, still looking slightly stunned.
Then… a quiet chuckle escaped him.
For some reason, he couldn’t help but imagine Vivienne’s face if he ever called her “Sister”, and the more he thought about it, the stronger the urge to do so became.
Lia—seeing that tiny, amused smile on his face—narrowed her eyes.
Jealousy flickered across her expression, but still…
Feeling his hand continuing to stroke her head gently… she calmed down, just a little.
“Then?”
Lucian asked softly, prompting her to continue.
“Then… I trained my fire powers…”
Her voice gradually became steadier as she continued speaking, telling him about her progress during the past two months.
As she spoke, her eyes slowly began sparkling with excitement every time she talked about getting stronger.
Lucian silently listened to every word she said, and a gentle smile gradually formed on his face.
He really liked that she didn’t dislike the training as much as he had thought she might.
After all…
Training as a vampire—especially under someone like Valentina—had been very, very difficult, despite how much he had strangely enjoyed it himself.
And considering Vivienne was both her daughter and her student… he had assumed she might’ve trained his sister in a similar ruthless, merciless manner.
Yet…
Hearing how Lia’s training had gone, he was very surprised, since… Vivienne’s training wasn’t even remotely comparable to Valentina’s.
Lucian couldn’t help but feel relieved. He was really glad to hear that Vivienne hadn’t resorted to forcing Lia to repeatedly sever her own limbs simply to improve her regeneration.
That alone made him inwardly sigh in relief.
But…
That also meant the redhead apparently held a personal grudge against him alone.
She seemed to be very soft with Lia herself.
‘Or… maybe it’s because they’re related… while I’m still a lesser vampire in her eyes.’
What he didn’t know was that Vivienne had long since abandoned that misunderstanding. She had already realised he was anything but a lesser vampire.
As Lia continued talking…
Lucian simply watched her—calmly, patiently.
His fingers absentmindedly played with a few loose strands of her hair before gently tucking them behind her ear.
Her hair hadn’t changed much after becoming a vampire.
It still retained its beautiful black colour, only now it had become slightly darker, more lustrous, almost silky beneath his fingertips.
And scattered among those dark strands… were several streaks of deep crimson—a subtle yet unmistakable change left behind by the Scarlett Bloodline.
The contrast only made her look even more beautiful, giving her a unique and captivating charm.
Lia, noticing his gaze lingering on her, felt inwardly happy—very happy—but at the same time, a little shy.
Knowing that he was looking only at her filled her stomach with butterflies.
“…So much happened, huh,” Lucian muttered after she finished speaking.
Lia shook her head with a small smile.
“Nothing much happened.
It’s just that so many things changed in such a short time.”
He couldn’t help but nod at her words.
She was right.
Nothing particularly extraordinary had happened during those two months—only counting the time he had spent out training with Valentina.
They had simply trained and grown stronger.
Yet…
If he looked back to the beginning, when the apocalypse had first started…
Everything had changed. Not only them, but their entire world.
And perhaps… those changes had already been there long before the apocalypse.
They simply hadn’t been aware of them.
Lia’s face softened as she watched the distant look in his crimson eyes.
Choosing not to disturb his thoughts, she silently shifted closer, gently snuggling against him once again.freewёbnoνel.com
And as she rested against him… her gaze drifted towards the side of his neck, where his shirt still hung open from earlier.
The faint scent of fresh blood lingered there.
Instantly, the bloodlust within her stirred once more despite having just fed on his blood.
Her breathing unconsciously grew heavier.
Very slowly…
She leaned closer. Her nose hovered near his neck as she breathed in his intoxicating scent, enough to make her body tremble ever so slightly.
Her golden irises gradually shifted into a deep blood red.
Lucian, feeling her movements, glanced towards her but made no attempt to stop her.
The next moment—
Lia’s lips slowly parted, and her sharpened canines extended.
Without waiting another second, they gently pierced his flesh.
“Ugh…” Lucian groaned quietly, not because of the pain, but because of the pleasure rushing through him.
His fingers instinctively tightened around her waist.
Meanwhile…
Lia gradually closed her eyes as the divine, euphoric taste of her brother’s blood spread across her tongue.
Her entire body trembled.
Even though she had drunk from him only minutes earlier, it still tasted unimaginably intoxicating—every single drop enough to drown her senses.
Her favourite chocolate cake, something she had loved ever since childhood, couldn’t even be remotely compared to this.
If she had to compare the two… she wouldn’t need to, since his blood was a thousand times better—perhaps even more.
She reluctantly stopped only after feeling satisfied.
Slowly… her lips parted from his neck.
Only after truly feeling satisfied did she stop.
Then, seeing a tiny trail of crimson remaining upon his pale skin…
Her eyes sparkled, and not wanting to waste even a single drop of that delicacy, she leaned forward once more and gently licked the remaining traces away until there was nothing left.
She felt a little annoyed when she noticed the puncture marks had already healed without her even realising it.
She had wanted them to remain there—to leave her mark upon his skin—but she couldn’t because of that stupid vampire regeneration.
Raising her head, she looked directly at him.
A bright, somewhat intoxicated smile spread across her face
“Brother… your blood is sooo yummy~,” she couldn’t help herself from saying out loud.
Lucian looked at her for a brief second.
She was teasing him a little too much, almost pushing his restraint to its limit.
So… he decided to make her suffer a little as well.
A faint devious smile crept across his face.
Then…
“My turn.”
He muttered quietly.
Before Lia could even process his words clearly—
His arm firmly pulled her closer as he lowered his head towards her neck.
Her eyes instantly widened as she immediately understood what he was about to do.
Her body was already far too hot.
“Wait, bro—Lucian, I just—ahhhhh~~~!”
Her voice immediately broke into a loud moan as she felt his sharp fangs sink fiercely into her nape.
A wave of pleasure rushed through her body.
Her entire body trembled violently.
Her eyes fluttered, almost rolling back beneath the overwhelming pain and indescribable pleasure washing over her all at once.
