Chapter 220: Versus The North

The group was about to exit the palace in the morning.

"Are you all ready?" Mika asked.

He looked at everyone but just like him, everyone looked for a certain person.

"Where’s Tija?" Lily wondered.

"..."

Cylia bitterly averted her gaze from the others.

"She’s conspiring with the enemy." she announced.

"What?!"

Many of the group gasped loudly, which was natural as nobody would have expected that. Even the likes of Belian and Mika were surprised.

Cylia began to shortly brief them about the incident last night.

"I see..." Mika muttered.

"Can I trust you to take care of her?" he asked Cylia.

"Yes, as her mother it’s my duty to bring her back to the right path." she replied firmly.

"Good. Then, let’s go."

Mika sounded calm, which confused some of them.

"I-is that it, Mika? Tija is with the enemy now!" Lily said frantically.

"Lily, we have no time to waste. If she’s with the enemy, then that’s it. We can’t do anything against it aside from letting your Highness take care of her."

"But..."

Lily was low-spirited.

"I will also go after her!" Sara stated.

Out of everyone, she may have been the most shocked by the piece of information. After all, she, too, loved her sister very much.

"I won’t accept this until I hear her out! There must be another reason for her betrayal!" she added desperately.

"Sara..." Cylia murmured grievingly.

"So please, focus on your areas and let me take care of my big sister!" Sara pleaded.

Mika glanced at her shortly before facing the exit again.

"As of now, we can’t be sure, where she is, so go to your assigned areas first. Once any one of us sees her, we will launch a signal so that everyone knows." he stated.

"I assume that there’s nothing to talk about anymore. Let’s move now."

"Yes!"

Thus, the group headed out.

"That boy’s demeanor sure has changed, huh? Just a while ago, he acted like a normal boy, who was somewhat shy and respectful. Now, he’s practically bursting with confidence." Cylia muttered slightly impressed.

"Yeah..." Ophelia agreed.

However, she did not seem happy about that fact. Mika may have turned more confident but in turn, he appeared colder.

"Everyone."

The group was outside.

"Don’t die." Mika commanded with stern eyes.

Then, he dashed towards his destination alongside Belian, Ophelia and Sylvia, ignoring the others’ reactions.

"Too embarrassed to look the others in the eyes after your words?" Sylvia teased him.

"You know them. They won’t die so easily." Belian chimed in with a faint smirk.

"Shut up."

"..."

Ophelia smiled at their interaction.

’He may be colder now but deep down, he is still Mika.’ she thought.

The others, who were left behind by Mika’s group, also split up with firm smiles on their faces.

In the meantime, Vira talked with Tija.

The two were in the conference room of the academy of Youra.

"I see so that’s what they’re planning."

"What will you do?" Tija asked.

She was kneeling in front of Vira.

"Nothing. Let them do what they want. In the end, they will die anyways." Vira replied amused.

"Understood."

Tija finished her report about the group’s plan and how they divided up.

"The chief will join the southern lines just like planned. We will get support from the east soon. If you want to, you can go to the west, where your family is. I will stay here with some northern people." Vira said.

"Thank you. I will head to the west then."

She stood up, bid her farewells and left.

"..."

Vira heaved a sigh after the door closed.

However, she was smiling.

"So that’s your decision, huh?"

She also stood up and walked to the window.

"That’s a bad decision. However, it doesn’t matter to me anymore. After this farce, I can finally take the last step and kill that creature." she muttered, clenching her fist.

"Once I killed it, my liege will finally recognize and praise me..."

Vira lifted her blushing face. It appeared like she was ecstatic at the thought of the Demon King acknowledging her.

"And maybe... Just maybe, I will get the chance to get promoted...!"

Alone in the room, she started to laugh maniacally.

Back to Mika.

Mika and the others were almost at the academy, which was deep in the south of Youra, however, a group of northern people stood in their way.

This time, their faces there visible, showing similar features to Sylvia with pale skin and pale blue eyes. Some had white and some had grey hair.

There were dozens of them but it seemed like the students of Youra were also trying to fight back, allowing Mika and the others to pass through.

"Hey, isn’t that the daughter of..."

Some of them were suspicious of Sylvia.

"..."

Sylvia noticed that obviously and doubt started to dwell inside her.

"Leave them to us!"

Behind Mika’s group, Lily, Lisa and Asak emerged as it was their task to support the students, who were fighting against the enemy troupes here. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"I won’t let you through!"

A big man appeared in front of Mika.

Mika looked at Sylvia.

"Is it okay?" he asked her softly.

"Y-yes... In this situation, we can’t afford to hold back..." she answered reluctantly.

The big man created an ice ax in his hand and swung it down to Mika, who did not move away.

"!"

Using his new sword, which he enhanced with lightning magic, for the first time, Mika shattered the ice ax. Due to the impact of Mika’s slash, the man stumbled to the back, leaving him full of openings.

Mika raised his sword. He applied even more lightning on the sword and quickly cut the man down.

A large cut wound was visible on the man’s upper body and due to the lightning, he was suffering from electrical shocks until he was motionless and burnt on the ground.

"Sorry." Mika muttered as he moved forward.

"Don’t be..." Sylvia responded weakly.

For her, it must have been difficult to fight her own people and see them fall down.

"There are more coming!" Ophelia warned them.

The academy was already in sight, however, more and more enemies assembled in front of the entrance.

"!"

The group stopped in their tracks.

They knew that Vira was with the North but they were still shocked when other demons appeared.

There were two demons flying above them and all of them were at least B-rank demons.

"We will handle them!" Belian declared.

He and Ophelia were facing the demons.

"Be careful." Mika replied.

Mika kept moving forward, leaving the obstacles to his comrades.

"Catch him already!" the enemy shouted.

They formed ice spears and were about to aim them at Mika but Sylvia intervened.

"Uwah!"

She created an emerging ice cliff beneath Mika’s feet, allowing him to keep walking without worrying about what was happening down below.

The enemies could only watch dumbfoundedly as the ice grew more and more. Mika was right above them but they could not do anything.

Then, Mika jumped off the cliff when he was already in the academy’s territory.

"!"

But another buffed man with a grey beard and grey hairs appeared and hammered Mika down with his fists midair.

"Tch."

Mika managed to block but was still sent to the ground forcefully.

"You became stronger." he stated in a deep tone.

"Hm? Who are you?" Mika asked sternly.

The enemies gathered around the man, who went through his slicked-back hair.

"It’s Arnold!"

"We can’t lose!"

Suddenly, the enemies’ morale received a huge boost.

"No way..."

Standing beside Mika, Sylvia appeared even paler than usual. Her mouth did not close and her huge eyes did not move away.

Tears started to dwell in her eyes.

"D-Dad...!"

"Dad?"

Mika tilted his head.

"..."

It was apparently a reunion between father and daughter, however, only the daughter seemed delighted about it.

Arnold gritted his teeth.

He closed his eyes.

"Watch out, Sylvia!" Mika yelled.

"?"

Blinded by her happiness, she only noticed the incoming fist just in time.

"Dad...? I-it’s me... Sylvia..." she stuttered in shock, after barely dodging.

"Forgive me, Sylvia. I have to do this." he stated calmly.

"W-what...?"

Her smile was shaky.

"Leave her to me! Just go and handle that boy over there!" Arnold ordered the others.

"Yes, sir!"

Following that order, around 15 people surrounded Mika.

And yet, Mika remained calm and looked at each one of them.

"How many of them are inside?" Mika asked.

[I sense no one there aside from that demon.]

"So everyone came outside for us, huh?"

[Yes, seems like it. But do not underestimate them too much. They were most likely tasked with guarding the path to the boss so they should be stronger than the average soldier.]

"I know. You don’t have to tell me."

A halo started to form itself above Mika’s head.

"Still, I will finish this quickly."

He took one last glance at Sylvia and her father Arnold before he stared in the direction of the academy.

He sighed.

"What a cruel hobby of hers..." Mika muttered disgusted.
