Chapter 137: End Of The Invasion

"It’s over."

[1 minute and 20 seconds left.]

Mika raised his sword and was about to stab Zaran in the chest.

"?"

However, Zaran stopped the blade from piercing him by grabbing the blade with his two hands.

In return, the blade pierced the flesh in his hands, causing his hands to bleed and to drip on his face.

"I am Zaran, the number 2 among the A-ranks! I won’t go down that easily!" Zaran stated with a strained and vigorous voice.

"Tch."

Mika sensed how Excalibur was being pushed back as Zaran lifted his upper body.

"Die!"

Zaran kicked Mika in the stomach.

"..."

As a result, Mika jumped to the back.

[Throwing the Holy Spear.]

’Kick to the temple from behind.’

"I won’t fall for that trick anymore."

Zaran’s eyes were sharp and cold as he turned his head around.

There, Olivia was already launching her high kick but the attack was stopped.

He clenched his fist while holding her leg.

"!"

The punch connected.

But he continued and launched a barrage of punches.

Olivia tried to block them but she could not evade even once.

"I know where you’re trying to guard yourself." he said as he continued.

’Thrust to his back.’

[Slash from above.]

"..."

Zaran let go of Olivia and sent her flying with a kick to the stomach before he turned around.

"Didn’t I just say that I won’t fall for your tick anymore?" Zaran said annoyed.

"!"

Mika was about to thrust his sword, however, Zaran used his sword to block.

"That voice inside your head..."

"!"

Mika widened his eyes.

He widened his distance from Zaran.

"What is the meaning of this? Why are you in that brat’s head?" Zaran wondered with a frown.

He slowly walked over to Mika but then, he suddenly stopped in his tracks.

"No... Wait..."

Zaran put a finger on his chin.

He was thinking deeply.

However, his train of thought was interrupted when Olivia approached him again.

"..."

With a fierce gaze, Olivia attempted to punch him.

Zaran evaded a clean hit barely but her fist was so fast that it still grazed him.

"?"

Olivia could not react in time when Zaran grabbed her face and slammed her to the ground.

"Hm?"

Zaran tried to pull his hand out but Olivia desperately held on to him, driving her nails into his arm.

’Beheading.’

"It’s futile, no matter what you do."

Mika saw the opportunity Olivia created for him and went for the finishing attack, however, Zaran took notice of that plan again as he dodged the slash.

"!"

He grabbed Mika by his collar.

"?"

Then, he lifted Olivia up.

"Ack!"

Zaran smashed the two’s heads against each other before he tossed them away.

"Tch... He’s completely on guard now..." Olivia said, clicking her tongue in annoyance.

"He isn’t focusing on just one or two persons anymore. His ability’s range spread to his whole surroundings." Mika added sternly.

The two stood up.

"Can you still fight?"

"..."

[1 minute left.]

"Yes."

Zaran walked over to Mika again.

"Now, where was I again?"

"Ah, yes. The voice in your head."

"..."

Mika’s gaze turned grim.

"What is he talking about?" Olivia asked sternly.

"Due to that woman’s ability, your greatest enemy was summoned. And said enemy was a demon. However, not only do I not know that demon despite his strength, he was also a Great Demon."

"Great Demon...?" Olivia muttered confused.

"Here comes the interesting part."

Zaran sharpened his eyes again as he looked down on Mika.

[...]

"As of now, there exists only one Great Demon and that would be our liege. Based on what I know, it should take at least 1000 years until the next Great Demon would be born."

"So tell me... How could a future Great Demon be your greatest enemy?" Zaran added intimidatingly.

Mika was about to open his mouth even though he did not know the answer to his question.

"There’s only one possible answer." Zaran continued, ignoring Mika.

His gaze shifted to the sky as he kept muttering something inaudible.

"He’s your successor, right? Mikaela?"

It was not a question directed at Mika.

[...]

Zaran sighed.

"Of course, you wouldn’t answer that." he said, shaking his head to the sides.

"Just what is he blabbering about? I didn’t understand anything?" Olivia said vexed.

"Mikaela..." Mika muttered in thought.

"..."

Zaran stared indifferently at Olivia and Mika.

"I’ve changed my mind." he said as he turned his back on them.

"I may have not achieved one of my personal goals, however, the information I’ve won today will suffice for now."

He spread his wings.

"Be thankful for the mercy I have shown you today. The next time we meet will be your end."

Following those words, Zaran flew away.

[Don’t let him escape!]

"!"

Mika hesitated for a moment before he also spread his wings and went after Zaran.

"Hey, where are you going?!" Olivia asked baffled.

"..."

Mika did not respond.

"That idiot...!"

She charged herself up with lightning and also followed suit.

"..."

Zaran was in sight but Mika still could not completely catch up to him.

"Mikaela..." he muttered again.

[Focus.]

"..."

He shifted his attention to Zaran again, who strangely stopped.

But it was not because he noticed Mika and Olivia.

He stopped because he had to dodge magic attacks from below.

"What are you doing?" Zaran asked ticked off.

Unbeknownst to Mika, the direction they were heading to was the east.

And currently, a certain man was located at the east gate.

That man was none other than Lucio Graymen.

Zaran descended to his level.

"Lucio."

Standing beside Lucio were Rachel, Harik and Sara, who were ordered to attack Zaran previously.

"..."

Lucio wore a kind smile on his face.

Compared to others on the battlefield, he remained unscratched.

After a short while, Mika and Olivia also came down.

[20 seconds left.]

"..."

Zaran cautiously scouted his surroundings.

Around him were Mika, Lucio, Olivia, Harik, Rachel and Sara.

Considering the state he was in, it would be difficult for him to escape.

"Are you sure you want to stop me?"

Rather than a question, it sounded more like a threat directed at Lucio.

"I can’t turn a blind eye to a demon trying to escape from here after causing a ruckus in my nation." Lucio replied calmly.

"He’s calling something like that a ruckus?" Olivia huffed silently in disbelief.

"Don’t you know who I am?"

Zaran’s veins on his forehead were about to burst.

"..."

Lucio remained silent.

"You piece of trash...!"

Zaran dashed towards Lucio with his sword drawn.

"?!"

But before his sword could touch Lucio’s neck, Zaran halted his actions.

He lowered his sword and straightened his posture.

"You..."

Zaran was moving his body reluctantly.

"Are you sure you want to kill me?" Lucio asked with a smile.

"..."

Mika was watching indifferently.

"This is the ability of Lucio’s relic." Olivia said bluntly with a stern face.

Zaran was stepping away from Lucio.

He was clenching his teeth. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"May one of you be so kind and finish him?" Lucio asked.

"..."

Mika was the first to step forward.

[12 seconds left.]

"I see..." Lucio muttered.

His expression changed to a sterner one for a short moment when he focused his attention on Mika.

"Damnit... That bastard...!" Zaran muttered in contempt as he turned to Mika.

Mika raised his sword.

"Are you going to block his attack?" Lucio asked Zaran.

"!"

Zaran was about to change his stance but stopped midway again.

As if he was paralyzed, he stood there without even putting up his guard.

"Remember this! This is not the end! Soon, those above me will come for you!" Zaran shouted.

He sounded nervous.

"Just like there’s a difference between B and A-ranks, there’s obviously a difference between A and S-ranks!"

Mika felt like those words were directed at him.

"But let me tell you this! One S-rank would have been enough to conquer this puny nation!"

Everyone else stared at Zaran pitifully.

"Mikaela."

Zaran switched from shouting to whispering.

"Just like always, stay where you are. We will soon come for your heads."

"..."

Mika did not react to his words.

[I see. This would indeed be a good idea. This way, we can eliminate all of you in one sweep.]

"..."

Zaran turned flabbergasted for a second.

"Haha..."

But soon, he broke into a loud and maniacal laugh.

[End this now, Mika.]

"You, too, Mika! Watch out because, in the end, they will jus-"

Mercilessly, Mika swung his sword down, cutting Zaran in two.

Blood sprayed in the air and on the ground.

The two body halves fell to the side.

"Is this the end?" Mika asked quietly.

[Yes. I do not sense an enemy here anymore.]

"Good."

Mika’s eyelids felt heavier.

His hair also began to change back just like his eyes.

The halo lost its brightness before it began to fade away.

Excalibur slipped from his hands and fell to the ground until it eventually transformed into its sealed state again.

Mika’s vision was blurry and he lost his control over his body as he swayed on the spot.

He was about to fall to the ground.

"Careful now."

Olivia caught him and lent him her shoulder.

"You did a great job." she whispered, smiling genuinely.

This marked the end of the first invasion.
