Chapter 130: For The Number 2 Spot

In the southwest.

The two B-rank demons, who were almost done with wiping out the second-years, curiously looked in the direction of Loogam’s inner wall when they heard something crashing through the wall and the buildings in the vicinity.

"What was that?" one of the two wondered, throwing the student he was choking to the side.

"..."

They walked over to the building, where the object or individual was crashed into.

The closer they got the more cautious they became.

"I have a really bad feeling..."

The rubble started to move.

"I will call Cwon. Since he’s near, he can help us." the other demon stated, pressing his index finger on his temple.

Darkness gathered in the hands of the other one.

He was breaking into a cold sweat when he entered the building through the hole in its wall.

"!"

Suddenly, a hand emerged from the pile of rubble.

"Hmpf-"

The demon was silenced as a hand was shutting his mouth.

"!"

The person under the rubble stood up and threw the demon at his colleague.

"Uff...!"

The demon, who was about to call for help, caught the body.

"If I see that bastard again, I will kill him on sight...!"

It was Olivia, who emerged.

She was wiping the blood trail coming from her mouth away.

Her scowling gaze was directed at the two B-ranks.

They suddenly felt chilly.

"We were informed about her..."

"Shit! We have to get away! We can’t handle that woman!"

The two demons spread their wings and were about to leap off.

"I-it’s Olivia Rostanta! She’s currently in the southwest!" the one, who pressed his finger against his temple again, shouted desperately.

"Is he signaling his comrades...?"

Olivia’s eyes sharpened before she took up a stance as if she was about to rush after them.

The two jumped.

"I’m in a bad mood..."

"!"

Olivia actually went after them with great bloodlust.

The demons turned scared, looking behind them.

"...so let me at least vent out my frustration on you!"

"Shi-"

She grabbed the leg of one of them and threw him to the ground.

"Tch!"

The other one made a decision, he would possibly regret later and flew away.

"Do you think I’d let you go?" Olivia said coldly, pointing her electrified index finger at him.

Then, she shot a precise lightning beam through his chest.

"Gueh...!"

The demon fell through the roof of a house.

At the same time, Olivia landed gracefully on the ground.

"Screw this...!"

The demon, she previously threw to the ground, stood up while clenching his teeth.

"They told us B-ranks and C-ranks that we should run if we should happen to see you..."

Instead of being scared, his eyes turned firm.

"But if there’s no way to escape her, then I would rather fight her...!"

His surroundings, including the ground beneath him and the buildings around him, started to get engulfed in darkness.

"..."

Olivia was unfazed and just watched as she crossed her arms.

The darkness spread further and after a certain time, sphere-like darkness emerged from the ground and hovered in the air.

Some of those black balls were small and some were big.

"I may have been just newly promoted to B-rank, however, I’m considered a talented darkness master...!" he muttered.

He was able to proficiently use the power of darkness.

His ability was the same as Barnt’s.

"Let’s see how you dodge thi-"

"It would be troublesome for the city if you were to launch your silly attack."

"?!"

Olivia appeared from above with her fists clenched together.

Her gaze was indifferent as she loaded her fists with lightning.

And then, she instantly hammered down her fists on his head. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

The impact was so strong that his head, which got slammed down, stuck in the ground.

His body did not move.

"One down."

Olivia shifted her gaze in the direction of the other demon, who finally crawled his way to her again.

"Damnit...!" the demon murmured frustrated.

He could not leave his friend behind and escape on his own. Therefore, he went back to the other demon. However, he was too late. His friend was already dead.

"..."

Olivia approached the crawling demon, who was biting his lips.

"No matter how much you all struggle, you all will meet your ends today...!" he stated vengefully.

"Delusional fool."

The sound of cracking bones echoed when Olivia stomped on his head and crushed it.

"Too late, huh?"

"I even had to put my fight on hold."

"Hm?"

Olivia looked up.

There were two demons in the air.

One of them was Dayn.

And the other one was a masked demon, whose mask had cracks in it with only his mouth being revealed.

"Heh, look at you, Cwon! All beat up and even bleeding!" Dayn huffed as if he was making fun of the other demon.

"You don’t exactly look in great shape either." Cwon, the other demon, replied, wiping off the blood on his mouth.

"Just whom were you fighting to look like that?" Dayn asked, shrugging his shoulder as he smirked.

"..."

Cwon gazed at the stern-looking Olivia.

"That person is most likely chasing after me now." Cwon answered calmly.

Olivia cracked her knuckles.

"!"

She was about to take up her fighting stance, however, at the same moment, the air in Loogam changed.

Even Dayn and Cwon were shocked by the pressure.

The earth was rumbling. The partly destroyed building crumbled down.

And not just their surroundings were affected.

The whole nation sensed it.

Everyone halted their actions even if they were in the middle of a fight.

Most of the humans were struggling to get up as they were forced to their knees. The monsters at the east gate were screeching and roaring deafeningly and anxiously. And the demons only had a look of confusion and nervousness on their face as they all shifted their gaze to a certain direction.

The west gate.

The atmosphere was tense.

Lereon and Mika could only watch as the two top A-ranks Zaran and Deara were about to go at it.

[As much as it pains me to say this... I advise you to help that woman.]

"W-what...? But she is a demon...!" Mika murmured with a strong voice.

[She is the key to turning the situation around.]

"?"

Mika looked at Zaran and Deara.

[It seems to me that Zaran is currently focusing on her. Therefore, it is the perfect opportunity to strike.]

His hand was shaking a little while he grabbed his sword.

"What will she do to me...?"

[She will only touch you for a short moment.]

"T-touch?"

[It does not matter where nor does it matter how. There just has to be physical contact between you in order to fulfill the condition.]

Mika swallowed his saliva.

"O-okay...!"

He still felt nervous, however, he had to do it.

He knew that he must not hesitate.

Other people were fighting and dying. More and more of Loogam was getting destroyed. The despair was not stopping.

Not until Mika used this opportunity, which could turn the battle in their favor.

"..."

Deara was slightly leaning to her right with her leg.

"Don’t play around. You know that I can read your movements." Zaran stated as he pointed his sword to her leg.

"Please do me the favor and put your sword away." she said with a smile that did not reach her eyes.

"You’re planning to get to him. Do you think I would allow that?"

Zaran’s eyes turned sharp and more threatening.

"Are you perhaps scared of the outcome?" she mocked him.

Hearing her words, he did not hesitate to swing his sword.

"Tch..."

Deara jumped to the back but a small cut was seen on her cheek.

Unusual for him, Zaran did not chase after her and remained on his spot.

"You’re truly a pitiful brat, Deara."

"Try insulting me again when you don’t feel scared of me anymore." she retorted with a wide scary grin.

She was about to move again.

"Your next move is to rush straight to him even though you may get slashed by me. Furthermore, you are thinking that in the scenario that I would block off the way, you would take a hit from me so that you can grab on me. Then, you would try to attack me, followed up by you finally getting to him."

"Truly, what primitive thoughts." he added.

"Mind-reading creep." she huffed.

Nonetheless, she dashed forward.

"Even if you know all that, what can you do?" she yelled.

Zaran smirked.

"?"

Then, he turned around, facing Mika, who already transformed.

Mika was about to draw Excalibur but Zaran took notice of that.

"A diagonal slash." he muttered as he blocked off his sword with ease.

He shifted the focus of his ability on Mika again.

"Damn it...!"

Zaran got behind Mika.

"Deara, your ability won’t work on dead people, right?"

"Don’t you dare!"

Deara was almost within arm’s reach.

His raised sword was about to slash Mika.

At that moment, Mika instinctively leaned towards his left.

[Dodge to the right.]

"!"

Zaran changed the trajectory but cut nothing but air.

His eyes widened when he realized that Mika did not dodge to the right.

He thought that Mika would obey the voice’s command.

"You fooled me..." he said in disbelief.

However, that moment of shock led Deara to her destination.

"Got you." she said slyly, touching Mika’s shoulder.

Unlike the time, she held his hand reflexively, Deara activated her ability now.

"?"

Dark matter was on the spot, where she touched him and spread further to his feet. The darkness on his body sunk to the ground, spreading itself beneath him.

Its diameter widened even more.

"DEARA!" Zaran shouted vigorously.

"W-what’s happening to me?!"

[From this point on, do everything to survive.]

"H-huh?!"

Back to the present.
