Chapter 113: Secret Summon

The break was almost over.

"Brother, shall we head to the arena?" Cail asked determinedly.

"..."

Xander, who was still sitting outside the arena on a nearby bench, looked at his surroundings.

The people started to hurry inside.

"Go first. I still have some business here."

"But there isn’t much time lef-"

"I said that you should leave. Now." Xander repeated in an annoyed tone as he sharpened his gaze.

"U-understood..." Cail replied weakly.

With his head hung low, Cail headed to the arena.

And when he finally disappeared from Xander’s eyesight, a person, wearing a coat, sat down beside him.

"Are you all here now?" Xander asked, without looking at the person.

"Yes. The others have scattered themselves amongst the people." the person, who sounded like a guy Xander’s age, replied.

"And how is it looking on the other side?"

"Everything’s ready. We’re only waiting for the signal."

"I see. The signal, huh?"

Xander stood up.

"Then, tell them that we can start it now." he stated.

"Got it."

With those words, Xander left the person behind and walked to the arena.

Meanwhile, Lisa was sighing.

She was on her seat as she stared down at the still empty field.

"..."

Lisa remembered Mika’s words.

Previously, she allowed Mika to attend the opening ball on day 1.

Mika mentioned that in return he would make sure to beat Xander.

At first, she was surprised. After all, she was a member of the disciplinary committee.

It was weird for him to make such a bold statement about her superior right in front of her.

However, he somehow knew about her hostility towards Xander.

Lisa was an upright student, who valued the rules and justice. Therefore, it was no secret that she harbored negative feelings for Xander, a student who did not shy away from using cunning methods or abusing his authority.

For a long time already, she wished for his downfall and a reformation of the current disciplinary committee as many members were loyal followers of Xander.

She sighed again.

"Why did I snuggle him outside on that day...? Was I swayed by his words?" she muttered regretfully.

Lisa pressed her fist against her forehead.

"We even knocked out one of our members so that he could switch his outfit..." she kept lamenting quietly.

While Lisa was drowning in regret, the atmosphere in the VIP lounge got tense.

"Mika?! What happened to you?!" Ophelia asked hysterically as she was about to rush to him.

Most of the VIP guests shared the same emotions as her but the members of the Grand Order fixed their eyes at someone else immediately.

Mika was roughed up and bled, however, he was also carrying an unconscious person on his back.

"Who’s that, Mika?" Olivia asked sternly.

"..."

He narrowed his eyes.

Then, he straightened his posture and dropped the person abruptly to the ground.

"H-hey, what are you doing?" Sara wondered confused.

"!"

Ophelia, who was now at Mika’s side, widened her eyes in shock.

"What is she doing here...?" she said flabbergasted.

Olivia stood up from her seat.

Lereon and Elsa also approached Mika and the stranger.

The person wore a coat but the hoodie fell off, revealing the woman’s face and her long black hair.

"What’s the meaning of this?" Olivia asked again for a status report.

"It’s a long story. She will tell you everything." Mika replied.

He stared at her coldly.

"Wake up." he said, or rather, ordered.

But no response.

Then, he drew his sword, changed it into Excalibur and stabbed her thigh with it.

"AAARGH!" she cried in agony as she opened her eyes.

"..."

Mika’s expression did not change as he transformed.

"What the..." Yarjak muttered.

He and his sister were taken aback by their own realization and by Mika’s appearance.

"A demon...?" Sara muttered shocked.

"What is a demon doing here?" Norman asked sternly.

Mika undid his transformation.

"Listen, everyone..."

He proceeded to sum up his situation.

That he was kidnapped by Xander, that Xander was perhaps in cahoots with demons and that eventually a group of demons was hiding in Loogam.

Obviously, everyone was shocked, including Olivia.

"A-a group of d-demons...?"

Sara hugged herself to calm her nerves.

"What now...?"

Yarjak tried to think of a solution but anxiety overcame him.

"..."

Norman was in deep thought.

"What’s the plan?" Ophelia directed her question to her sister.

She tried to appear calm but she, too, broke into a cold sweat.

"Isn’t it obvious? We will find them and kill them." Elsa stated bluntly as she shrugged her shoulders.

"And how do you plan to find them?" Lereon chimed in.

"Silence." Olivia ordered in a sharp tone.

She looked at the woman, who was still rolling around in agony.

"I managed to capture her but I haven’t extracted any kind of information from her yet."

"I see."

"Can I leave that to you?"

"Are you still planning to participate in that match?" Olivia asked.

"Yes. I know that this is absurd but this match is very important to me."

She sighed.

"Lereon! Elsa! Ophelia! You three go and look out for suspicious individuals in the vicinity!"

"Yes!" the three answered.

"W-what about us?" Sara asked nervously even though she tried to be firm.

"You, the VIP guests, will remain here with me."

"And I don’t want to hear any buts, you hear me?" she added.

"..."

Sara nodded her head reluctantly.

"Mika. I will trust you that you know what you have to do."

"Yes."

Mika was about to go.

"One last thing."

"?"

"Don’t say a word about demons. We can’t cause a mass panic here."

He nodded his head once and firmly.

Then, he ran to the resting hall.

He had only little time left until the match started.

"Haa... Haa..."

Mika’s breathing was ragged.

[Are you fine?]

"Does that matter...?"

[You were not able to rest despite fighting a demon and now you want to jump into the next fight. Does that not sound absurd to you?]

"Ha, as if I have another choice..." Mika huffed exhaustedly.

"To be fair, I didn’t expect that I had so much trouble with that woman..."

[That is completely your fault. You should have taken the place into consideration.]

"I know, I know... I will do better next time when I have to fight in a narrow and dark space like an alley." ƒrēewebnovel.com

The resting hall was in sight.

"Now what is that? The match should have started now but we’re missing a participant here!"

Mika heard the voice of the announcer.

"It’s already starting?!"

He picked up his pace.

In the meantime, at the academy.

A person, wearing a dark coat, engulfing their entire body, was walking inside a secret passage.

It was a passage only known to a handful of people in the academy.

It was dark and there were no lamps or the like.

Thus, the person carried a torch to illuminate the place.

It was cramped and cold there.

The passage was long.

It was only until the person was under the arena that there was a wall.

Usually, one would think that this was a dead end, however, the person did not stop and kept moving forward.

And when the person got into contact with the wall, it seemed like the person was passing right through it.

There was a room right behind the supposed wall.

It was a room as large as the arena’s battlefield above it.

The walls were buried in old sheets of paper with strange-looking runes on them.

In the middle of the room was a pedestal with a dark head-sized crystal ball slightly floating above it.

Around the pedestal and the crystal ball were multiple layers of circles with runes scribbled on the ground.

The person walked over to the crystal ball.

Then, the person gently put a hand on the ball.

Following that, the crystal ball and the runes on the ground began to shine in an ominously dark purple tone.

It was not visible due to the lack of illumination but black fog gathered inside the room.

The person took a few steps back as the ball was shining brighter.

Then, it shone so bright that the person had to close their eyes.

But the light lasted only for a few seconds. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

The runes on the ground and the crystal ball quickly dimmed until they did not shine anymore.

"Why is it so dark here?"

The voice belonged to a man.

"..."

The person approached the man.

"Who are you? Are you Xander Maystra?"

"..."

The person just raised their index finger in front of their mouth and shook their head to the sides.

"So you won’t tell me, huh?"

"Well, whatever. Let’s talk after we finish our business with that boy." the man added.

The person and the man exited the room through the wall.

"Mika Elbar..."

The man muttered to himself.

"He’s the one, who’s currently wielding Excalibur."

"He also managed to fight Yater."

"And he is also the one..."

His tone turned threateningly.

The aura he emitted was filled with bloodlust.

"...who killed my brother."
