Chapter 122: Watery Depths I

"Of course," I agreed readily, without hesitation.

It had been too long since I had felt Blaise through the bond, and I felt an urgent need to rectify that immediately. In fact, I wanted to rectify this problem the moment Damon created it, but there was simply no opportunity to do so since Blaise had been sent away.

Others might think me selfish for wanting Blaise even after Damon and I marked each other, but they wouldn’t understand. There was a hole in my soul without Blaise, even with Damon’s presence. It felt like my soul was a chew toy, tugged into two pieces.

"You’re enthusiastic about it," Blaise pointed out, and I noticed he couldn’t stop the corners of his lips from rising.

"Like you’re not," I retorted playfully. "I missed you. You had no idea how worried I was when I left you behind."

"I’m glad," Blaise’s eyes misted over. "I’m happy to know I still have a place in your heart. I’m sorry I did not do a good enough job of staying with you when you needed me."

Suddenly I realized what Blaise must have been going through― he had suddenly lost his ability to detect my emotions because of Damon, then he got such a serious injury while Damon successfully saved me, and then he had to watch me leave for a potentially hostile pack with his older brother as he laid in the infirmary, injured beyond belief.

If I were him, I would be wracked with worry and insecurity, wondering if my mate would perhaps decide to leave me for another after they spent enough time together. I tightened my arms around Blaise’s waist, squeezing him.

"Harper, you’re squeezing me too tightly. Are you trying to mimic an octopus?" Blaise asked teasingly, as he rubbed gentle circles around my neck muscles.

"Only if you’re into octopi," I confessed, but I didn’t loosen my grip on him.

It wasn’t as though I had no clue about how most people preferred Damon over Blaise. I had felt hints of Blaise’s insecurity back when we were bonded; he had always been second place to Damon, and a part of him was resigned to the fact that he would never outdo his brother in that arena.

I vowed to myself that I would make an effort to put Blaise first. Damon was already number one in the hearts of every wolf in Fangborne. Blaise and Damon were both my fated mates, but Blaise was my first fated mate. That had to count for something.

"If all octopi are as cute as you, I’ll willingly let myself be molested by your tentacles. I would willingly let you drag me into the depths of your watery lair and sink into your waters. I would let myself be consumed whole, just so you could absorb me and live another day," Blaise said, with all seriousness. ƒrēewebnovel.com

I snorted at the mental image of me with eight hands, pawing at him relentlessly even as my cheeks reddened at the innuendo in his romantic words. From the smirk on his face, he knew it too. Watery lair and sinking into my waters?

Pervert. I missed him so much it hurt.

"You idiotic sap," I complained with no heat, "Come over here and mark me already, or do you want me to do it first?"

"Impatient, aren’t you?" Blaise smirked, and then he leaned down, running his tongue over his old mating mark, tracing the long-healed edges of sensitive skin. I shuddered, and then Blaise bit down, his teeth sending pinpricks of pleasure coursing through my body. I couldn’t help the moan that escaped from my throat, and from the answering grin on Blaise’s face, he heard it loud and clear.

Smugness filled my heart. Ah, this was Blaise’s emotion. I smiled, even as I playfully smacked his chest. Blaise pressed his lips to the newly refreshed mating mark, a display of tender possessiveness that warmed my heart and the spot between my legs.

"Your turn," Blaise finally said, lifting his head up to glance at me. His voice was hoarse.

I nodded jerkily and tugged him close, haphazardly pulling aside the collar of his shirt to stare at the mark I left him. Blaise, unlike me, only had one mating mark, and it was starting to fade. I frowned; was this due to Damon’s blockage of the bond?

Well, that wouldn’t do. I licked the edges of my teeth. Now that I was faced with the broad expanse of Blaise’s skin and the permission to do whatever I wanted, my mouth was running dry from excitement.

"Bon appetit," Blaise said fondly as he watched me eye him, craning his neck to give me better access to his mark. "Do you want me to kneel so that you can reach me more easily?"

"Oh, piss off, I’m not that short!" I immediately retorted, launching myself at him. "I’ll prove it!" ƒгeewebnovёl.com

And then, I bit down right over the old mark. Blaise hissed, his hands immediately going to hold my waist, lifting me up so I could wrap my legs around his waist. A faint coppery taste filled my mouth; I had bit down a little too enthusiastically and was thus drawing blood. I quickly licked at the minor wound, feeling slightly apologetic. I wasn’t a werewolf, but I certainly wasn’t a vampire either!

Blaise trembled beneath me, and I could feel his arousal swelling within me emotionally― and physically against me. After all, we were now pressed closely together.

"So... what were you saying before, about willingly exploring my watery depths?" I asked coyly, a hand gently brushing his hair from his face.

"I am but a humble deep sea diver, obsessed with the thought of hidden treasure," Blaise said, squeezing my butt with his firm hands, leaving no doubt as to what sort of treasure he was referring to. Anticipation rose in me, and I felt my body heating up.

"Prove it," I raised an eyebrow challengingly.

Blaise let out a roguish laugh. "As my lady commands."
