Chapter 438: Chapter 433-434: Attacked (2)

Feng Ling suddenly spoke just as Gu’er started to walk away.

Gu’er turned to look at her. Feng Ling was looking down, wiping her eyes.

"This is a matter between you two. You should go talk to him yourself. No matter what you’re thinking, if you just explain it clearly to Li Zhi, he’ll listen. It wouldn’t be right for me to go down with you."

Gu’er wanted them to resolve it themselves.

"I’m a little scared. I just want to ask him a few questions. If... if it’s really, really not going to work out between us, then I’ll give up and leave this place for good."

A flicker of anguish crossed Feng Ling’s face.

Gu’er felt a pang of pity watching her.

"Fine, I’ll go downstairs with you. But if he’s not there, I won’t help you search. You know I can’t move around easily right now."

Gu’er nodded.

"Thank you."

Feng Ling thanked her for agreeing. As Gu’er turned away, she missed the complicated glint in Feng Ling’s eyes.

Gu’er and Feng Ling went downstairs together. Gu’er looked around but didn’t see Li Zhi. Feng Ling then led her to a small, secluded garden.

"Where’s Li Zhi? I can’t... I need to catch my breath."

Gu’er stopped by a flowerbed and turned to speak to Feng Ling.

Gu’er didn’t see a motorcycle speeding toward her from behind.

She didn’t see it, but Feng Ling did. Feng Ling’s pupils constricted.

There were two people on the motorcycle. The driver was a man, and though he wore a helmet, she recognized him. She also recognized the woman riding behind him.

’The motorcycle should have parked over there. Why is it speeding this way now? It looks like it’s trying to hit Gu’er.’

’Why would they hit Gu’er? This isn’t how it was supposed to go.’

Gu’er was talking to Feng Ling, but when she saw the color drain from Feng Ling’s face and the terror in her eyes, she knew something was wrong.

Gu’er turned her head to look. She couldn’t react without seeing what was happening. When she finally saw the motorcycle hurtling toward her, her heart leaped into her throat.

She was inside the residential complex, with a flowerbed directly behind her. There was nowhere to dodge. Besides, the motorcycle was moving too fast, and she wasn’t as nimble as she used to be. She couldn’t get out of the way.

But she couldn’t let it hit her. Even if it wasn’t a direct impact—if it just grazed her and she fell, or if it hit her belly—the consequences would be disastrous. All she could do was instinctively shield her stomach.

"Watch out!"

An image seemed to flash before Feng Ling’s eyes. With no time to think, she lunged in front of Gu’er and wrapped her arms around her.

Just as Feng Ling threw herself over Gu’er, the motorcycle slammed into them. It struck Feng Ling hard in the waist, and the force of the collision jolted Gu’er. A cramp shot through her stomach. Unable to bear the force, she collapsed backward onto the flowerbed, but at least she didn’t fall to the ground.

The motorcycle, on the other hand, went down. Whether because the driver was unskilled, panicked after hitting someone, or simply lost control, the bike toppled over, sending both riders sprawling onto the ground.

"Are you okay?"

Feng Ling forced back the pain to ask Gu’er. Her waist felt like it was about to snap where the motorcycle had hit her. She couldn’t bear to imagine what would have happened if it had struck Gu’er’s stomach instead.

Gu’er’s face went pale. Even though Feng Ling had taken the brunt of the blow, the force had still thrown her backward. She had landed hard on the flowerbed, jarring her abdomen. Despite her hands shielding her belly, a throbbing pain began to radiate from it. She felt a dreadful pulling sensation from below, as if something warm was about to gush out.

Feng Ling saw Gu’er clutching her stomach, her face ashen as sweat beaded on her forehead. She knew that even with her shield, Gu’er had still been hurt. The baby was probably injured.

Her eyes instantly turned red, burning with a furious flame as she glared at the two people on the ground.

Gu’er watched through a haze of pain as Feng Ling approached the woman on the ground. This Feng Ling was unrecognizable, radiating an overwhelming rage. She grabbed the woman by the hair and began slamming her head against the pavement.

’Is that Feng Ling? She’s terrifying!’

"Why did you try to hurt her baby? Didn’t you say Gu’er was the evil one? You said you were carrying Jia Ming’s child and were going to marry him, but then Gu’er stole him from you! You said she made you lose the baby, then forced you to marry someone else, and now you can’t even go home! You said she had you backed into a corner, that all you wanted was to confront her and ask for a little fairness! To get her to leave you alone! So why did you do this? Why did you try to hurt her child? WHY?"
