Chapter 61: Chapter 32: Make-up Wedding, Honeymoon Photoshoot (Part 2)
He hadn’t heard from Jiang Li, so he went to his study to handle some work and put his phone on silent.
He only saw the message she’d sent after he finished working and had rushed over in his car.
Jiang Li waved a dismissive hand. The villa was a bit far from here anyway, not to mention it was almost midnight.
Besides, she had only sent a text, not called. It was nice enough that Shen Yanzhi had come at all.
"Holy shit!"
Shen Yuchu’s eyes were glued to the two as they got into the car. When he got a clear look at the model, he couldn’t help but exclaim, "When did my brother buy a Porsche!"
Zhou Jiawen raised an eyebrow. "It’s also possible his wife bought it for him."
She can casually drop tens of millions on a purse, so a Porsche would be nothing to her.
Shen Yuchu shook his head, clicking his tongue. "I can’t believe my brother is living off a woman now that he’s approaching middle age."
He turned to Zhou Jiawen, who was still in the back seat, and asked expectantly, "So when are you going to let me live off you?"
’A man has to have a dream. What if it comes true?’
The corner of Zhou Jiawen’s mouth couldn’t stop twitching. "I was hoping you’d let me coast, and now you’re hoping to live off me?"
She had truly never met someone so shameless, someone who could talk about being a kept man with such confidence.
Shen Yuchu waved his hand. "Forget it, forget it. I won’t count on you, and you don’t count on me."
He was self-aware enough to know his own limitations.
’Coasting is not an option. Not in this lifetime.’
’But if it’s relying on Jiang Li, maybe there’s still a glimmer of hope.’
After his silent grumbling, Shen Yuchu finally complained, "Aren’t you going to move to the front? Are you treating me like your chauffeur, sitting in the back?"
"I can’t afford a driver as expensive as you," Zhou Jiawen retorted as she opened her door and moved to the passenger seat.
While the two were bickering, Jiang Li and Shen Yanzhi had already driven away.
In the car, Shen Yanzhi had brought milk tea especially for Jiang Li, and it was still warm.
Shen Yanzhi thoughtfully inserted the straw for Jiang Li before gripping the steering wheel with both hands, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
He looked serious, but he was actually watching Jiang Li from the corner of his eye.
Jiang Li took a small sip, then gave him a thumbs-up. "I have to say, you’re pretty smooth."
’He knew he was late, so he brought her milk tea.’
’He was afraid she’d be cold, so he’d give her his own coat.’
If everyone hadn’t said that Shen Yanzhi kept to himself and that she was his first love, she would have suspected he’d had a ton of girlfriends when he was abroad.
Shen Yanzhi appeared nonchalant, but he said with a hint of smugness, "Even if you’ve never eaten pork, you’ve seen a pig run, haven’t you?"
During those years abroad, aside from his classes and starting his business, the thing he studied most was how to get along as a married couple.
It was all for the sake of giving Jiang Li a wonderful relationship experience.
It seemed his efforts were paying off; Jiang Li looked quite satisfied.
Jiang Li was noncommittal in her response. She took another SLURP of her milk tea. "A top student is a top student, I guess. Your comprehension skills are top one in every field."
They reached a red light, and Shen Yanzhi stepped on the brake. He turned his head to look at Jiang Li. "Are you free tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I am. Why?"
She was basically unemployed right now, with plenty of free time outside of eating and sleeping.
Shen Yanzhi cleared his throat. "Well, we got married in such a hurry that my friends didn’t get to attend. Now that they know I’m married, they’re all clamoring to meet you."
’Meeting Shen Yanzhi’s friends?’
’Good grief, this feels even more nerve-wracking than meeting the parents.’
But since Shen Yanzhi had brought it up, Jiang Li had no reason to refuse.
She nodded and replied, "Okay."
The corners of Shen Yanzhi’s mouth lifted slightly. "Great. We’ll set it for dinner, then."
He had thought he’d need to do more convincing, but he hadn’t expected Jiang Li to agree so easily.
But speaking of the wedding, Shen Yanzhi still felt a twinge of regret that he hadn’t been able to give her a dream wedding.
While Jiang Li seemed to be in an agreeable mood, he asked, "By the way, should we have another wedding?"
Jiang Li bit her straw, turning her head to fix her alluring, almond-shaped eyes on Shen Yanzhi. "Why?"
BOOM—
Seeing that look out of the corner of his eye, Shen Yanzhi felt something explode in his brain, and he nearly made the car swerve erratically.
’Does Jiang Li have any idea how absolutely captivating she is to me?’
Shen Yanzhi silently opened the car window to let in some cool air. He took several deep breaths before explaining, "For one, it was too rushed, so a lot of our friends and family couldn’t attend."
"For another, we didn’t even take wedding photos, and we used the venue you had for you and Zhao Sinian. It just doesn’t feel like we’re really married."
