Chapter 56: Chapter 30: Cashback Artifact, Zhou Jiawen’s Invitation to Play Mahjong
She took a deep breath. "Okay, no problem."
As soon as she hung up, she saw a message from Zhou Jiawen inviting her to play mahjong.
Jiang Li didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but she didn’t have anything planned for the afternoon, so playing a few rounds of mahjong wasn’t a bad idea.
Besides, it was good for the sisters-in-law to spend more time together.
She sent Zhou Jiawen an "Okay" and then called Shen Yanzhi back.
As soon as he answered, Jiang Li told him her plans. "Your sister-in-law just invited me to play mahjong this afternoon, and I accepted."
Shen Yanzhi paused, then said, "You know, if you don’t want to go, you can just say no."
He didn’t want Jiang Li to force herself to do things she disliked on his account. That wasn’t what he wanted.
Jiang Li blinked innocently. "Not at all. I’d love to go."
No one knew that Jiang Li was secretly a mahjong addict.
In fact, her love for mahjong was the very reason she hadn’t moved in with Zhao Sinian all those years.
After all, work was already exhausting. If she didn’t even have any hobbies for fun, what was there to look forward to in life?
Seeing that Jiang Li wasn’t just putting on a brave face, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, then. I’ll transfer you 100,000 for stakes. Winnings are yours, losses are on me."
The corner of Jiang Li’s mouth twitched. "What kind of mahjong game requires a 100,000 stake?"
’Or is this just how the truly wealthy play mahjong, with hundred-thousand buy-ins?’
’Or maybe it’s like in those short-form dramas, where a single hand is worth millions, or even tens of millions.’
Shen Yanzhi didn’t explain, simply stating forcefully, "Just take it."
Jiang Li was once again amused. "Alright, you’re the handsome one, so you get the final say."
That successfully drew a laugh from Shen Yanzhi. "Okay, now hurry up and eat."
Jiang Li nodded. "Mhm~"
Neither of them ended the video call. They simply kept the line open, one eating while the other worked on other things.
When Jiang Li finished her meal, she remembered to ask Shen Yanzhi, "Have you had lunch yet?"
Shen Yanzhi took off his glasses. "Not yet. I’m not hungry right now, I’ll eat in a bit."
Jiang Li asked curiously, "What are you going to eat?"
"I’ll just decide then and eat whatever’s available."
He wasn’t a picky eater anyway; he’d eat anything.
Jiang Li propped her chin on her hand, her face lit with excitement. "I have an idea! I’ll order delivery for you. You can treat it like a mystery box."
Shen Yanzhi didn’t answer with words. Instead, he sent his address to Jiang Li, his actions speaking for him.
Jiang Li ordered a main course, some fruit, and an afternoon tea set.
"Okay, it’s ordered. Make sure you eat it all later."
Seeing Jiang Li stand up and head for the door, Shen Yanzhi asked, "Are you heading out now?"
Jiang Li gave a sheepish smile. "My sister-in-law just messaged. They’re short one player."
"Send me the address. I’ll come pick you up after I’m done here."
Jiang Li forwarded the location pin Zhou Jiawen had sent her to Shen Yanzhi. "Alright, I’m heading out now. Talk to you later."
The moment Zhou Jiawen had invited her, she’d already told Xie Wan to get the car and wait in the underground parking garage.
Once in the car, she ordered an afternoon tea set on her phone.
No sooner had she arrived at the location than she got a call from the delivery driver. "Hello, ma’am, your order is here. What floor are you on?"
Jiang Li glanced around before waving in a certain direction. "I’m actually downstairs. I’m the one waving."
"I see you."
Less than half a minute after she hung up, the driver zipped up on his electric scooter, executing a perfect drift to stop in front of her. He pulled the order from the rear compartment. "Hello, your delivery."
Jiang Li took it from him. "Thanks."
"You’re welcome. Enjoy your meal!"
Since Shen Yanzhi was coming to pick her up, she had already sent Xie Wan home for the day.
She carried the afternoon tea into the elevator by herself and went to find the private room number Zhou Jiawen had sent her.
She pushed open the door. Inside, besides Zhou Jiawen, were two slightly older women. Both were dripping with gold and jewels, looking like they came from very wealthy families.
Zhou Jiawen immediately shot up to greet her, introducing her to the other two. "This is my sister-in-law, Jiang Li."
"And these are my mahjong buddies, Sister Xia and Sister Mei."
Jiang Li gave a slight nod in greeting. "I brought some afternoon tea."
In addition to milk tea, there were also some small snacks.
She figured they might get hungry during the game.
Zhou Jiawen smiled sweetly. "Sister-in-law, you’re so thoughtful."
