Chapter 652: Chapter 651: Lin Xuan, the Kept Man!
When Elder Wang heard that Lin Xuan wanted to live in the core area, he was taken aback. He then smiled wryly and said, "Lin Xuan, you’re new here, so you might not understand the situation."
"To live in the core area, you need to pay 2,000 points every month," he explained. "That’s an astronomical figure."
"You’ve just entered the Sacred Institute, so you surely don’t have any points yet. It’s best not to dream of entering the core area for now."
"Stay in the lower-tier area and focus on settling in."
"Wait until you have an opportunity in the future, then you can try for the core area."
Elder Wang still had high hopes for Lin Xuan. After all, anyone who could obtain the Celestial Order was bound to have extraordinary talent. In a few years, he might indeed be able to enter the core area, but it was definitely impossible for him right now.
Lin Xuan, however, just smiled and said, "There’s no need to wait. I can enter the core area right now."
"Elder, please help me check in."
What? Elder Wang was stunned. It was as if his words had gone in one ear and out the other.
Nearby, Jin Ze sneered, "Kid, didn’t you hear him? Entering the core area requires 2,000 points. Do you have 2,000 points?"
The other youths began to mutter among themselves. "Is this kid out of his mind?"
"It’s our first day, and we don’t even have a single point. How could he possibly enter the core area?"
"I think he just wants to use his Celestial Order to cause trouble."
"But he’s mistaken this time. The Sacred Institute has its own rules, and they won’t change for anyone."
"If he keeps making a fuss, he’ll probably be punished."
As expected, Elder Wang’s brow furrowed. "Lin Xuan, the rules of the Sacred Institute are not to be challenged," he said, his tone turning stern. He certainly didn’t believe Lin Xuan could possess 2,000 points.
Lin Xuan simply laughed. "What’s 2,000 points? I have 10,000 right now."
"His bragging is getting more and more ridiculous," Jin Ze scoffed, bursting into laughter.
Elder Wang’s expression turned grim. How had he not noticed this kid was so arrogant and out of touch?
Just as his anger was about to flare, Lin Xuan took out his token. "Elder, please take a look."
Elder Wang impatiently snatched the token and glanced at it. The next moment, his eyes flew wide open.
"Ten thousand points!" he exclaimed. "You really have 10,000 points!"
At his words, the laughter in the hall died instantly.
Jin Ze stood frozen, the smirk on his face stiffening. He felt as if he had been slapped hard across the face.
How is this possible? he thought, refusing to believe it. It’s everyone’s first day here, none of us have a single point. How could you possibly have 10,000?
Even Elder Wang was in disbelief, thinking his eyes were playing tricks on him. He blinked hard, but after checking several times, the token still clearly displayed a balance of 10,000 points.
He looked up at Lin Xuan, his face a mask of confusion. "What’s going on? Where did you get so many points?"
Lin Xuan smiled. "Senior Sister Ning Yu gave them to me."
Ning Yu gave them to you? Elder Wang was startled for a moment, then he recalled Lin Xuan mentioning he was going to meet an acquaintance earlier. Could it have been Ning Yu? It seems they knew each other from long ago. So that’s how it is. It was Ning Yu who gave them to him. Elder Wang had a moment of realization. That Ning Yu was a genius in her own right; she could indeed afford to give away 10,000 points.
He returned the token to Lin Xuan and said, "Since you have 10,000 points, you are indeed qualified to reside in the core area."
"However, Lin Xuan, I must still remind you. Points are extremely precious. Not only is residence costly, but you’ll also need a large amount of points in the future to choose advanced Martial Arts Secret Manuals or acquire Spirit Medicine, Elixirs, Spiritual Artifacts, and so on."
"So, you must use your points sparingly. Do not waste them."
"Thank you for the reminder, Elder."
With that, Lin Xuan headed toward the core area.
Everyone watched his departing figure with a mixture of emotions. The new disciples’ eyes were red with envy. To be able to live in the core area from the very first day—how incredible was that?
"This Lin Xuan must have an extraordinary background. I bet he’s someone important."
"He’s definitely a peerless genius. It won’t be long before he soars to the top."
Only Jin Ze gnashed his teeth in fury. So, he’s just a pretty boy who relies on his senior sister. Hmph, living off a woman is nothing to be proud of. I’ll get into the core area myself in the future. And I’ll do it with my own abilities!
Jin Ze clenched his fists. Lin Xuan had repeatedly humiliated him in a single day, and it drove him mad with rage. He swore he would not let this guy off so easily.
Lin Xuan arrived in the core area.
The environment here was incredibly serene and beautiful. Each courtyard was a large, detached villa, complete with gardens and other amenities. It was a world apart from the lower-tier area, which was filled with ordinary, cramped lofts. There was no comparison to the luxury, comfort, and tranquility here.
It was practically a paradise. More importantly, the Spiritual Qi here was far richer. Cultivating here would be several times faster than in the lower-tier area.
These 2,000 points were well spent! Lin Xuan thought, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
Elder Wang chuckled. "This is just a Fourth-Grade Spirit Gathering Array. Our Sacred Institute also has Fifth-Grade and Sixth-Grade Spirit Gathering Arrays. As your strength improves and you accumulate more points, you can move to even higher-grade arrays."
Lin Xuan was even more astonished. A Fourth-Grade Spirit Gathering Array was a rarity even in the Great Xia Country, yet here in the Sacred Institute, it was merely the most basic. There were even more advanced arrays above it.
It seems coming to the Sacred Institute to cultivate was indeed the right choice.
"This Courtyard Number Eight is currently unoccupied. You can live here," Elder Wang said, pointing to a magnificent residence in the distance.
Lin Xuan nodded.
He then moved into Courtyard Number Eight. The layout and decorations were simply impeccable. Not only that, but it was also protected by its own Guardian Array, making it an exceptionally safe place to cultivate. After a quick tour of the entire courtyard, Lin Xuan was thoroughly satisfied.
He entered the main hall and began reading the new disciple handbook and other basic information about the Sacred Institute. The most crucial information concerned points. Through this, Lin Xuan gained a deeper understanding of both the Sacred Institute and the importance of its currency. Points were even more important than he had imagined.
BOOM.
Lin Xuan channeled his power into the token. It immediately emitted a faint glow, and images and text began to appear on its surface. This was information about the various treasures within the Sacred Institute.
The true treasures of the Sacred Institute were all stored in the Celestial Treasure Pavilion. However, every disciple’s token contained basic information about these treasures and the points required to redeem them. This allowed disciples to browse at their convenience. Once they had enough points, they could go to the Celestial Treasure Pavilion to make an exchange.
Images of one treasure after another materialized in the air. Lin Xuan gazed at them, his heart filled with awe. They were all treasures he had never seen before, but the number of points required for each was an astronomical figure.
Lin Xuan was utterly stupefied. So this is the Sacred Institute? Its foundation is simply too profound. Any single one of these treasures, if taken outside, could send the entire Great Xia Country into a frenzy.
Suddenly, his gaze locked onto one particular image. The text above it read: True Dragon Blood.
It was Dragon Blood left by a True Dragon, possessing boundless Dragon Dao Power.
Lin Xuan’s eyes lit up instantly.
"Kid, that True Dragon Blood is good stuff," the big black dog said. "If you can get it, your Myriad Dragon Physique will improve by leaps and bounds. You must obtain the True Dragon Blood."
Lin Xuan clenched his fists in excitement. "Don’t worry," he nodded, "I will definitely get it."
He then looked at the point value listed below the image. When he saw the number, he froze.
This True Dragon Blood actually required one hundred million points!
For a newcomer, 2,000 points was already a massive sum. One hundred million points was a truly astronomical figure. But no matter how difficult, Lin Xuan would not give up.
He had to obtain the True Dragon Blood!
Besides the True Dragon Blood, Lin Xuan also found the true blood of other Divine Beasts, and even the blood of draconic descendants. There was also true blood from creatures like the Serpent. The points required for these were, of course, also astonishing. The Serpent’s blood, for instance, required 8 million points.
Previously, Lin Xuan had absorbed a Heart of the Serpent. If converted into points, it would be worth over 10 million.
Lin Xuan’s eyes burned with desire as he looked at these treasures.
He needed points. A massive amount of them.
Lin Xuan then studied the rules of the Sacred Institute to learn how to acquire points. There were two primary methods.
The first was to climb the ranking lists. The Sacred Institute had two of them: The Celestial Talent Azure Cloud Ranking and the Unmatched Splendor Ranking.
The Azure Cloud Ranking was for cultivators in the Grandmaster Realm, while the Splendor Ranking was for those in the King Realm. Anyone who managed to get on these lists would receive a certain number of points each month. The higher the rank, the greater the reward. However, getting onto these lists was extremely difficult. Newcomers, at least, stood no chance.
Besides the ranking lists, there was another way to earn points. This method was the one most commonly used by the disciples of the Sacred Institute: completing tasks.
The Sacred Institute issued a large number of tasks of varying size and difficulty. Completing each one would earn a certain number of points. Lin Xuan decided he would go see what tasks were available.
Soon, he left Courtyard Number Eight and headed for the Task Hall.
The Task Hall was a magnificent, golden-tiled palace built atop a large mountain. Countless disciples flew toward the peak from all directions, landing in the vast square before hurrying inside.
Lin Xuan also flew over. Upon landing, he realized this was one of the liveliest places in the entire Sacred Institute. These disciples bustled about with hurried expressions; some were ecstatic, while others sighed in disappointment.
Following the crowd, Lin Xuan walked into the great hall. Inside, he found the hall was divided into many different sections. Each section corresponded to a different task level.
After a quick look around, Lin Xuan headed for the Alchemy Task Area, planning to complete a mission by refining elixirs.
A crowd of young disciples had gathered in front of one particular task. They were all discussing it heatedly.
"This refinement task is too difficult. I failed before."
"Yeah, me too. I’ve failed several times already."
"It’s a Fourth-Grade extraction task. I bet only a Fourth-Grade Alchemy Master could complete it."
"Sigh, I guess we don’t stand a chance."
As the group sighed in resignation, someone reached out and accepted the task.
"Whoa, who was that?"
"Could a Fourth-Grade Alchemy Master have arrived?"
Everyone turned in surprise, only to find that a young man, not even twenty years old, had accepted the task.
This person was, naturally, Lin Xuan.
The other disciples stared at him, dumbfounded.
Lin Xuan asked, "What? Can’t I accept the task?"
One of the disciples said, "You look unfamiliar. I haven’t seen you around."
Lin Xuan replied, "Oh, I’m a new disciple who just joined the Heavenly Dao Sacred Institute today. It’s normal that you haven’t seen me before."
Hearing this, the surrounding disciples’ eyes widened in shock.
"What? A new disciple?"
"A mere new disciple like you dares to accept a task meant for a Fourth-Grade Alchemy Master?"
"What incredible arrogance!"
