Chapter 46: Chapter 46 Inspection

Hei Yue parted her lips to stop her, but Lan Shu quickly tapped her hand, shaking her in disapproval.

"But..." Hei Yue tried to protest.

"Shhh." Lan Shu glared at her, before turning towards Ruo Shuo who had already pushed the door open.

Inside the room, Xue Yao and Honghong were still sitting on the bed. Honghong had nearly finished half of the beast cores, and her small belly had become rounder than before. Xue Yao poked it curiously with one finger. "You really are a bottomless pit."

Honghong slapped her finger away with one wing playfully. "Don’t disturb me while I’m growing stronger."

"Growing stronger?" Xue Yao raised a brow. "You look like you’re growing fatter."

"That is also a kind of strength."

Xue Yao nodded after thinking about it. "True. If you become fat enough, I can throw you at enemies."

Honghong froze, then slowly lifted her head. "Master, your way of using people is becoming more and more terrifying."

Before Xue Yao could answer, the door suddenly opened.

Xue Yao turned her head with a frown. ’Does that grumpy wolf not know how to knock?’ She thought inwardly. Still sitting cross-legged on the Alpha’s bed with Honghong beside her and several beast cores scattered around them.

The moment her gaze landed on the woman standing at the doorway, her jaw dropped. ’Damn! Absolutely stunning, those curves need to be studied. Wait a minute, who is she? Slim waist, full chest and hips...’ Xue Yao lowered her gaze to her own chest. ’This is so unfair... where are my boobs? Did the universe send me here only to be mocked.’ She cried inwardly.

Then she looked at Ruo Shuo again. Then she secretly glanced at her own waist and hips.

’...Mine is still developing,’ she comforted herself seriously.

Honghong, who had been chewing a beast core, also froze. The half-eaten core remained between her beak as her eyes moved from Ruo Shuo to Xue Yao. After a moment, she quietly swallowed and whispered, "Master... I think trouble has arrived."

"Don’t be rude Honghong." Xue Yao whispered back.

Ruo Shuo stood at the door without entering immediately. Her gaze first swept across the bed, then the scattered beast cores, then Honghong, and finally settled on Xue Yao.

The human was alive, sitting comfortably in the Alpha’s room, wearing clothes from the residence with her hair loose around her shoulders and black clay still smeared faintly across her face. She did not look like a dying breeder nor did she look frightened. She looked as though she had slept well and had just woken up.

A strange pressure quietly filled the room. ’How could this be... even I, a full female wolf carrying strong bloodline and almost at the S-level cultivation could still not dare to lay with brother Lie Lang... how could this human who is just in the spiritual realm handle him?’ Ruo Shuo thought inwardly, her nails digging into her palms.

Xue Yao blinked, then slowly reached out and pulled the remaining beast cores closer to herself.

Ruo Shuo noticed the movement, and frowned.

Honghong noticed it too and immediately hugged the nearest core with both wings.

For a moment, silence stretched between them. The tension grew so thick that a knife could slice through it.

Then Ruo Shuo stepped into the room, her voice gentle but carrying an edge of arrogance. "So you are Bai Xue Yao."

Xue Yao stared at her for a second before nodding. "Yes?"

Ruo Shuo’s eyes lowered slightly to the bed beneath her. "You survived the night."

Xue Yao frowned. For some reason, she didn’t like the way that sounded. "Was I not supposed to?"

Ruo Shuo swayed her hips as she walked closer to them, her eyes scanning the room. A soft smile graced her lips. "It is just strange that a human breeder could still be alive after spending the night with Brother Lie Lang."

Xue Yao arched one of her brows. ’Brother Lie Lang.’ The Ruo Shuo called his name was so possessive and cringy that Xue Yao couldn’t help but frown.

"So? Is that why you barged into the room?" Xue Yao asked, her voice carrying the recklessness they always had.

Ruo Shuo scoffed, walking towards the shelf, her hands brushing through the antiques. "Did you mate with him or not?"

"And why should I answer you?" Xue Yao shot back, folding her arms across her chest. "You barged into someone else’s room, started asking strange questions the moment we met, and now you expect me to answer them?" She lazily leaned her back against the armrest. "If you have nothing else to say, then leave." She waved her hand in the air dismissively.

Ruo Shuo’s smile gradually faded. For the first time since entering the room, she looked directly into Xue Yao’s eyes. "You misunderstand. Whether you answer or not doesn’t matter."

Xue Yao frowned.

"The truth will reveal itself soon enough." She added with a smug look.

Before Xue Yao could ask what she meant, hurried footsteps echoed through the corridor outside. The footsteps were neither chaotic nor rushed, yet each one seemed to carry an invisible weight that made the atmosphere inside the room grow heavier.

Lan Shu and Hei Yue immediately lowered their heads.

"The elders have arrived."

The words had barely fallen when five elderly figures appeared outside the chamber.

Every servant in the corridor bent respectfully at the waist. "Greetings, Elders."

The five old men stepped into the room one after another. Their snow-white robes fluttered gently around them, embroidered with silver wolf patterns that marked their status within the clan. Though their hair had long turned grey, the pressure radiating from them was enough to make the air inside the chamber feel suffocating.

Honghong instinctively hid behind Xue Yao’s shoulder.

Ruo Shuo walked up to them and bowed her head slightly. "Elders."

They waved their hands in the air, as if not wanting to be disturbed. Their eyes landed on Xue Yao.

And Silence spread through the room.

The leading elder slowly circled the bed, examining Xue Yao from head to toe without saying a word. His sharp eyes swept across her face, the black clay marks, the untouched bed sheets, and finally the calm expression she wore.

His brows slowly knitted together. "...Impossible."

Another elder stepped closer. "She has no visible injuries. There isn’t even the scent of blood."

"How could she still be alive?" Another said, rubbing his long white beard.

Their voices were low, but every sentence caused the atmosphere to become heavier.

Xue Yao looked from one old man to another.

Then she looked at Honghong. The two of them exchanged the exact same confused expression.

’...Why are they staring at me like I’m a rare spiritual beast?’

The leading elder finally spoke. "Human."

"Hm?" Xue Yao replied.

"Stand up." He ordered.

Xue Yao blinked. "Why?"

"So we may conduct an inspection." The elder was already growing impatient.

"Inspection?" Xue Yao asked, completely baffled. Lie Lang never mentioned such a thing to her.

She looked down at herself. "I’ve already bathed."

The elder ignored her joke. "Stand... now."

Seeing that no one intended to explain anything, Xue Yao reluctantly climbed off the bed. ’What could go wrong from just a mere inspection?’ She thought inwardly.

The five elders slowly walked around her, observing her from every angle as though she were an item being appraised before purchase.

Xue Yao’s eyelids twitched. ’What the heck are they doing?’

One elder lightly lifted a strand of her hair before letting it fall again. Another examined the faint spiritual fluctuations around her.

The third frowned deeply. "The Alpha’s aura is present...But it is not strong enough."

The leading elder narrowed his eyes. "Continue."

Before Xue Yao could understand what he meant, one of the elders suddenly crouched before her. His hand reached toward her ankle.

Xue Yao instinctively took a step back. "What are you doing?"

The elder didn’t answer. He simply reached forward again. This time... His hand continued moving upward past her ankle towards her calf. "Spread your legs." He ordered.

Xue Yao’s brows twitched violently. ’...Wait.’ Her eyes slowly widened. ’Don’t tell me...’

The elder reached for the hem of her short leather skirt. The realization struck Xue Yao like lightning.

Her face changed instantly. "ARE YOU CRAZY?!"

She yelped and jumped backward so quickly that she almost crashed into the bed. Both hands immediately pressed her skirt down as though guarding a priceless treasure.

"What kind of inspection is this?!" she shouted, glaring at the five elders as if they had all lost their minds. "You old perverts! Have you all gone senile?!"

The room fell deathly silent. Even Ruo Shuo was momentarily stunned.

The elder’s hand remained suspended in midair. His expression darkened. "This concerns the future of the White Moon Wolf Clan."

"And it concerns my body!" Xue Yao snapped without the slightest hesitation. "Don’t even think about it!"

Honghong immediately flew onto Xue Yao’s shoulder and spread her tiny wings protectively. "That’s right! Stay away from my master!"

The leading elder frowned deeply. "Human, cooperate."

"Cooperate your grandfather!"

Xue Yao grabbed Honghong with one hand, turned around, and bolted toward the other side of the room.
