Han Luo flashed a small smile at Xue Yao before waving the piece of meat in his hand. "That will be all. Someone will come to pick you up," he said as if he was discussing the weather.
He looked down, shaking his head slightly at the little prince who was now sitting on the ground gnawing on the remaining bone.
"Let’s go, Little Ancestor." Han Luo said, his voice tinged with exhaustion.
Xue Yao didn’t know what else to say... "Wait..." she called out the moment she saw Little Ancestor standing up to leave.
"I’m not ready... oh, I mean I am on my period..."
"Period?" Han Luo tilted his head to one side, his brows knitting together in confusion.
Xue Yao facepalmed herself inwardly. "I mean I am in the period where I have my monthly flow." She said, swallowing her shame.
Han Luo stared for a moment too long, which made Yao feel small under his scrutinizing gaze.
Unable to bear the tension, she parted her lips to speak. "What?"
"I don’t smell it," he said with a frown.
Xue Yao closed her eyes. "Oh shit." She cussed under her breath. A red hue tinted her cheeks.
"Little Ancestor." Han Luo called out again, his voice colder this time.
Seeing how serious he was, Little Ancestor finally stood up, holding the remaining bone in his hand. "Okay."
Han Luo turned towards Xue Yao. "If you want to lie, at least make it believable."
"Um...um, I wasn’t trying to lie... by the way, can I use the favour you promised me earlier?" She said, hope burning in her gaze.
When he did not answer. She continued. "Just help for today so I wouldn’t have to serve the Alpha tonight."
"I’m afraid the favour is not that big for me to risk my life for it. I’ll help you when you really need it." Han Luo grabbed Little Ancestor’s hand, turning to walk away.
"You are going back on your words." Xue Yao’s fingers wrapped around the iron bar.
Han Luo didn’t say any more words. He only guided Little Ancestor out of the corridor. However, Little Ancestor stopped midway, turning around to face Xue Yao.
He poked out his tongue while pressing his fingers against his cheeks. "Human, I want you to cook for me tomorrow." He shouted before smiling.
Xue Yao made a punching gesture at him, but that didn’t faze him a bit.
Meanwhile, Han Luo was smiling at Little Ancestor’s words, and a mischievous glint flickered through his eyes.
Little Ancestor turned around to continue walking. However, he suddenly stopped walking, and his eyes were glued to the remaining rabbit in Han Luo’s hand.
"Uncle Han Luo, can I..."
Before he could finish his words, Han Luo beat him to it.
"If you know you want to continue eating the human’s food, then you have to let this meat go, because your almighty brother Lie Lang needs to examine it himself." Han Luo slowly patted his head.
Little Ancestor’s eyes turned misty, but he hesitantly nodded his head. "Fine, I’ll just pretend I didn’t see it." He murmured.
"Good boy." He grabbed his hand, and without looking back, they both walked out of Xue Yao’s view.
"Wait..." Xue Yao rattled the gate, but they were already gone.
Her shoulders sank, and she slumped to the ground. ’Ah, I want to go home! The situation is no longer favourable for me. I never wanted any of these, this system, or to be part of this world. But why am I stuck here, and not just that, I have to sleep with an animal too. My system is too nonchalant to help, there is basically no way out for me.’ She sobbed inwardly.
’I miss brother Jun Yi, my little sister Ling Yue, father, mother, and that annoying Chen’er, my twin. I wonder what they are doing now... have they realized I have fallen asleep?’ A tear rolled down her cheeks.
’I’m such a bad child, mother, father... I failed you all. I promised not to fall asleep, but intentionally did... I thought I had nine lives... unfortunately I was wrong.’ She sniffled. ’If I can’t make it up to them in this lifetime, I will repay them in the next life.’
She was startled when she felt a small warm hand on her skin.
When she lowered her gaze, it was none other than Tian Lan. Her pale blue eyes sparkled as if filled to the brim with tears. [Why are you crying?]
Xue Yao pulled away from her and turned her body to another direction. She wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
’Instead of wailing... if I can’t survive tonight... then everyone is going down with me.’ She paused, her eyes widening as if she had found a new idea.
’If I can upgrade my taming weapons, then I might be able to deliver a huge blow.’
With that thought, she immediately turned around to face Tian Lan again.
"Tian Lan, I want to upgrade my weapons." She said with conviction burning in her eyes.
Tian Lan stared at her for a couple of seconds before shaking her head slowly in defeat. With a single wave of her hand, a blue screen unfolded like parchment.
