Chapter 156: Potential Lead?

Allison was surprised that Dimitris was the one that the Specters had encountered when she first joined, there was no way that she could have guessed that this man was holding such a position.

Allison was suspicious, he believed a tad bit too quickly and she was certain that he would be against her post as the new wall commander but he hadn’t even made a comment regarding it.

Dimitris was writing something down and Allison sat in awkward silence, wondering what it was that he was writing.

"This should do it," Dimitiris said before clapping his hand and someone walked in, Dimitiris handed him the paper and whispered something in his ear and the man was on his way.

Allison knew it wasn’t her place to ask what it was that he was doing so she kept her mouth shut.

Dimitris just stared at her blankly without uttering a word and this made Allison even more uncomfortable.

"How is he?" Dimitris asked and Allison raised her brow.

"Jason?" She asked because she didn’t know what he was talking about and didn’t want to assume wrongly, Jason was the only person that came to mind.

"The man that gave me this wound, is he well?" Dimitris asked and Allison was confused by his question

"I don’t know but the last time I saw him, he was as strong as ever," Allison responded, choosing her words carefully as she didn’t know what Dimitris hoped to get out of this conversation.

"Hahaha! That is good to hear, is the camp still running? I have been keeping an eye on it and I heard it was attacked recently," Dimitris said; Allison was surprised that he had this much intel but it also made her question what else he knew.

"You... have been watching?" Allison asked and Dimitris waved her down.

"Don’t say it like that, it was harmless..." Dimitris said because the tone that Allison used gave an underlying tone of perversion.

Dimitris was sure to tell her that this wasn’t a fetish or a kink but rather a supervision.

"It would be stupid not to watch you people and did you ever wonder how I ended up meeting that demon?" Dimitris asked and Allison had time on her hand.

She knew no information was useless and if Dimitris was ready to spill then she would welcome it.

"I bet that is one interesting tale, sir," Allison responded and Dimitris grinned at her.

"Tell me, the people that attacked the camp..." Dimitris quickly changed the topic and this caught Allison off guard, waiting for him to finish his sentence.

"... are they the same people in this camp?" Dimitris asked but this was one thing that Allison knew she couldn’t mess up. Without flinching or missing a heartbeat.

"No..." Allison debunked him but something told her Dimitris knew a lot more than he let on.

"That is fine, the camp will cease to exist soon enough," Dimitris said; Allison didn’t know what he meant by this but it did sound like he had a plan in place to get rid of the camp but this would prove to be impossible if the one that held the number 1 was still there.

Even with a horde, they had managed to deal with them and restore order in less than twenty-four hours, which not only took skills but leadership as well.

That was his strongest trait, the ability to lead and sway the minds of others to join his cause.

The fact that he didn’t lay a hand on Bella but she did what she did to herself was proof of this.

-

Bella was distraught, she was worried about how things were unfolding and Allison assuming command put too much attention on them.

Bella knew they were scared but this didn’t justify how they treated her or Allison.

The stares became unbearable, she had no plans on letting it carry on without saying her mind.

She climbed to the top of the wall with everyone wondering what it was she was doing but Bella was about to make a statement to show that she wasn’t like everyone else.

"Hey! Everyone listen up!" Bella screamed and sure enough, she had everyone’s attention fixed on her.

"I know you’re all scared but there’s nothing I can do about it. We don’t know who the enemy is and it is natural to assume the outsiders are the enemy. But I want you all to take this same logic and apply it to yourselves. What if the outsiders are the only ones we can trust?" Bella spoke and the murmurs began.

She knew she had to drive home her point before she lost them.

"Allison, I’m sure you were all present when she jumped over the wall and risked her life to save every one of you... A lot of you would have perished that day if she didn’t intervene..." Bella used an event that supported her argument perfectly even though one could make a point that this was part of their plan to overrun the camp.

Fortunately for Bella, no one harbored that thought and this allowed Bella to drive home her point.

"We will risk our lives to protect this place and its people so stop with the side eye before I give you something to worry about," Bella said and the majority averted their gaze. Her physique helped intimidate them.

Bella sighed but she was glad that she was able to get through to some of them but she also realized that they needed to catch who was responsible sooner rather than later.

They had no hint so far and they couldn’t establish a motive either.

Bella came down and there was a man that kept staring at her but the look in his eyes was a lot different than the others.

He tilted his head sideways, gesturing for Bella to follow him, this was random but Bella had no reason not to as it would be stupid for anyone to attack her in broad daylight as she was more than capable of defending herself.

Bella followed the shady man and the moment she took a turn, she saw him resting against the wall with a cigarette hanging between his soft perky lips.

"That was some speech," The man said, he was lanky but tall, approximately the same age as Bella. He had a weird cloth covering his mouth, she couldn’t see anything below the eyes.

And this was what made his green eyes stand out but Bella wasn’t interested in any of this. freёweɓnovel.com

She wanted to know why he had brought her here and the man was in no hurry to divulge it.

"It came straight from my heart so I’d hope so," Bella responded with a corny smile.

"You know this won’t do much until you catch who is responsible, right?" The man responded.

"I was hoping you could help me with that," Bella said to which the man took a drag of his cigarette and puffed the smoke.

"How so?" The man asked, looking at Bella from head to toe.

"You have been in this community and I wanted to ask if you have noticed anything out of the ordinary," Bella got right to it but the man’s expression didn’t change.

"Don’t you think I would have told authorities if I did?" The man suggested; this was a good point.

"Or maybe you don’t know if you can trust said authorities so you kept it to yourself or you might be next," Bella said and the man was amused by this response.

"Trust huh? And I trust you?" The man asked as he took a puff of his cigarette.

"You will have to if you want to catch the person responsible," Bell said bluntly, she wasn’t mincing her words because there was nothing to gain from it.

"You know... I think we can help each other... My name is Israel," The man introduced himself as his eyes lingered on Bella’s chest.

"Please don’t tell me I will have to sleep with you to get information..." Bella said and Israel immediately choked, he didn’t expect her to do something so crass.

"W-WHAT!? OF COURSE NOT!" Israel shut her down with such urgency that one would think it was against the rule.

"I’m even offended that you would think I’m attracted to you," Israel continued before clearing his throat to recompose himself.

Bella had heard this numerous times before but no one ever said no when she made a move.

What men say and what they do have always been at odds with each other.

"Okay then so what is it that you want from me in return?" Bella asked, unbothered by his comment about her physique as this was the least of her problems.

"Drugs, I know you have someone that works at the clinic so maybe she could sneak me some and I will tell you all the information you want to know," Israel said but this caught Bella’s interest.

Why did he want her to get drugs for him when he could easily check in and get whatever medicine he needed? He was one of the people that manned the walls and protected the community from zombies so he shouldn’t be lacking in rank.

This was a strange request but if it would get her what she wanted, she was willing to consider it even though Bella knew that he could just be fucking with her in which case she knew how to handle him.

"I will see what I can do," Bella responded to which Israel smiled at her.

"I will be waiting," Israel said, walking away leaving Bella to ponder on all the ways this could backfire.
