[Sword Dao Points: 14]
Su Xing pushed open his door and walked a few steps to his bedside, sinking to the floor and leaning against the edge of the bed. freeweɓnovel.cøm
A pale blue system panel floated before Su Xing’s eyes, its light faintly illuminating the dim room. His gaze was fixed on [Mortal Sword]. He took a deep breath and murmured:
"System, add the points!"
As soon as he spoke, a confirmation window popped up on the system panel reflected in his pupils.
[Sword Saint Profession System]
[Sword Dao Points: 14]
[Expend 12 Sword Dao Points on Mortal Sword? Yes/No?]
Su Xing was used to this sight. He just gave a faint nod and thought, ’Yes.’
WHOOSH. The fourteen Sword Dao Points on the Sword Saint Profession System instantly dropped by twelve, leaving only a lonely two remaining.
The [Mortal Sword] skill on the system panel blurred. After a moment, it cleared, revealing its new form.
[Your professional skill "Mortal Sword lv6" has advanced to "Spirit Sword v1"]
"Spirit Sword?"
Su Xing murmured the new name.
He thought of the other sword in his abdomen, the Sparrow Sword, and roughly understood the meaning. After all, "spirit" sounded much more impressive than "mortal." No matter what, it had to be an upgrade.
With this thought, Su Xing held his breath and focused, bracing for the coming agony.
And just as he expected, within a few breaths, an unbelievably massive stream of information flooded into his brain.
This torrent of information was countless times more intense than the three first-tier sword skills he’d learned before. Su Xing felt his body begin to tremble uncontrollably. Reality seemed to be peeled away by an invisible hand, leaving behind only a world of stark whiteness and simple lines.
Finally, even the white void and simple lines shattered, and his vision plunged into darkness.
When Su Xing became aware again, he had returned to the small island, observing the little figure on it from a god-like perspective as it breathed, again and again.
The figure was cross-legged on a massive boulder, a Black Sword resting across its knees. Beside it, the crimson Sparrow Sword circled, flying round and round.
Meanwhile, a celestial white light swirled around the figure before pouring into its body through its nostrils and pores, then flowing into the two swords.
The Xuanwu Tortoise pattern on the Black Sword grew more distinct, and the edge of the Sparrow Sword began to extend, bit by bit.
After an unknown number of years and months, the Sparrow Sword suddenly let out a sharp cry, as if cheering for its own rebirth.
It circled the figure, emitting one HUM after another. The air around it seemed to be pierced by a sharp spear, creating a series of BANGS and sending vertical ripples spreading outwards.
The figure slowly opened its eyes. The Sparrow Sword hovered at its side.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, the moment after the figure completed its breakthrough, an unknown Sea Beast erupted from the ocean.
It was a colossal monster, the better part of its body submerged in the sea. The vast ocean waves looked like mere splashes before it.
It had two heads and a shell-like armor, making it difficult to classify what kind of creature it was.
The figure stared at it. The beast’s immense size was incredibly oppressive, but the figure showed no sign of retreat. With a wave of its right hand, the Sparrow Sword, as if understanding its master’s intent, shot directly toward the Sea Beast!
The air between them instantly detonated, creating a massive ring of distorted space.
Seeing the tiny figure dare to attack first, the Sea Beast’s mouth twisted into a shockingly human-like sneer as it roared:
"Courting death!"
It then spat a torrent of flames at the flying sword, trying to intercept the Sparrow Sword’s strike.
But the flames only managed to slow the sword for a moment before they were split in two, like a red banana being sliced in half, and completely disintegrated.
The Sparrow Sword then instantly pierced through the Sea Beast’s body, leaving a hole so small it was almost invisible to the naked eye.
The Sea Beast froze. Green blood gushed from the wound, gradually mixing with the deep blue seawater.
As if completely enraged, the Sea Beast let out a bestial howl. Like a furious giant bear, it flailed its limbs, trying to catch the Sparrow Sword as it zipped around at high speed.
From his god-like perspective, Su Xing observed the clash. He could clearly sense how powerful this Sea Beast was. Although its moves were simple, the Order Energy it emitted was incomparably pure.
If he had to make a comparison, Su Xing was certain it was far stronger than the Thousand-Change High Priest.
Yet, that Order Energy had been sliced in two by a single strike from the Sparrow Sword. This meant the Sparrow Sword’s power was not to be underestimated.
If he’d had the Sparrow Sword when he faced the Thousand-Change High Priest, a single strike would have likely been enough to take the High Priest down with ease. He never would have needed fifteen strikes of Myriad Swords Return to One.
The Sparrow Sword was small and incredibly fast. It effortlessly dodged several of the Sea Beast’s lunges, which couldn’t even graze its blade. As if it had finished playing, it dodged one last pounce and shot straight for the Sea Beast’s heads!
SQUELCH! The Sparrow Sword pierced through both of the Sea Beast’s massive heads and exited cleanly on the other side.
The Sea Beast’s body went still. Then, its entire massive frame toppled into the sea with a deafening CRASH, kicking up a colossal wave that surged toward the figure’s island.
At that exact moment, Su Xing’s eyes snapped open.
His vision tore free from the darkness. His world was once again filled with simple lines.
A breath later, color flooded into these lines, and the world gradually returned to the reality Su Xing remembered. He gasped for air, and it was a long while before he finally came back to his senses.
The sword moved with his thoughts. In the blink of an eye, the Sparrow Sword appeared by his side, circling him with a constant, humming cry.
At the same time, a wave of weakness washed over him, even as pale white motes of energy frantically poured into his body. The sensation of being drained and refilled at once made Su Xing clench his teeth and shout through the pain:
"This power-up really packs a goddamn punch!"
