Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Spirit Realm
"Class dismissed."
"Goodbye, Coach Su!" freewebnovёl.ƈom
Bright sunlight streamed through the window, bathing Su Xing in a golden glow. A smile spread across his face as he sheathed his sword and walked over to the sword rack. After leaning his sword against it, he subconsciously glanced at his Sword Dao Points, which were still being calculated.
[Sword Dao Points: Calculating (61%)]
The Sword Dao Points were being tallied, so Su Xing couldn’t see the four Sword Dao Points he had earned from today’s class.
But it didn’t matter. The progress bar was finally over halfway done. At this rate, he would see his total Sword Dao Points tonight at the earliest, or tomorrow at the latest.
It would be time to allocate his points again.
At this thought, Su Xing’s smile widened.
After setting his sword on the rack, he dusted off his clothes and looked up at the Sword Hall, which was now mostly repaired.
He had to admit, the workers were incredibly efficient. In just a few days, they had already sealed up the large hole in the Sword Hall. It was just a little bit away from being completely finished.
Suddenly, the phone in Su Xing’s pocket began to ring with an alarm—RING RING RING.
Su Xing pulled the phone from his pocket, swiped the screen without looking, and headed outside.
He had set this alarm for a single purpose: to remind himself to visit Su Yu in the hospital.
The Spiritual Sect’s attack was over, and the ensuing commotion had been forcibly suppressed by a special organization.
At least, Su Xing hadn’t seen any trending topics or posts online about the Spiritual Sect’s attack. Even Cang City First People’s Hospital, the epicenter of the incident, had fully resumed operations.
The attack from the Spiritual Sect was like a pebble dropped into a great lake; it created a few ripples before the surface returned to its calm, as if nothing had ever happened.
On the roadside, Su Xing used his phone to hail a ride. Less than ten minutes later, a black car pulled up in front of him. Before Su Xing could open the door, the driver’s side window slowly rolled down. The driver poked his head out, looked at Su Xing, and said with a smile:
"Hey, it’s you again, brother?"
"Yeah. Hailed a car twice and got you both times. Must be fate."
Su Xing smiled, opened the back door, and got in. After confirming the last few digits of their phone numbers, he heard the driver speak again:
"Brother, you look a lot better today than you did the past couple of days. Did you get things sorted out?"
"Yeah, it all went smoothly. Thanks for your concern, man."
"Haha, what did I tell you? No problem is so big it’ll kill you. The way you looked when I drove you a couple of days ago, man, that was scary. But now you just look like a handsome young lad."
"Too bad my kid’s a boy, or I’d introduce you two."
Once the driver learned that Su Xing’s problems were resolved, his chatty nature burst forth. He talked Su Xing’s ear off the entire way.
But Su Xing didn’t find it annoying. He chatted with him for a good half hour, and when they arrived, the driver waved a reluctant goodbye as if they were old friends.
...
Cang City First People’s Hospital.
Having been here once before, Su Xing knew the way. He quickly arrived at Su Yu’s bedside. When Su Yu saw him, he pointed at the apple on the table and said softly,
"Brother, why are you here again? Didn’t I tell you a few times you don’t have to come?"
"I didn’t have anything else to do."
Su Xing didn’t mind. He picked up the apple from the table and took a bite, then asked in a low voice, "So? Anything new?"
"What could be new? I’m recovering very well."
Hearing Su Xing’s words, Su Yu casually picked up an apple and took a bite. Then, his voice sounded directly in Su Xing’s ear, saying,
"Actually, there is something."
"Brother, have you ever heard of the Spirit Realm?"
Su Xing whispered, "Never heard of it."
Though he’d never heard of the Spirit Realm, the name alone made it sound related to the Spiritual Sect, so Su Xing focused his attention, listening carefully to what Su Yu would say next.
"It’s a bit complicated... Brother, do you remember how I’m supposed to go to the Capital City in a while?"
"Of course I remember."
Su Xing nodded, and Su Yu continued,
"Actually, it’s not just Cang City. Almost every city is sending people to the Capital City to assist the special organization there."
"It’s because the special organization in the Capital City discovered a Secret Realm that’s about to manifest. Through their investigation, they’ve determined that this Secret Realm might be a ’lesser world’ left behind by a Demon Cultivator from before the Spiritual Qi dried up, intended for his future return to the mortal world."
"Secret Realm? Lesser world?"
Su Xing was puzzled. He keenly sensed that this Secret Realm might have something to do with the Spiritual Sect, so he asked,
"This Demon Cultivator... don’t tell me it’s the ’Him’ that the Spiritual Sect worships?"
"Yes, it’s very likely."
"Many people in the organization are starting to suspect that this Secret Realm might be the same thing as the Spirit Realm mentioned by the Spiritual Sect."
Su Yu let out a heavy breath and said,
"Brother, if the Spirit Realm really is that Secret Realm, then we’ll have to be even more careful from now on."
"Before, no matter how the organization investigated, they could never figure out why the Spiritual Sect was so desperate to kill me. It made no sense at all."
"Now... I finally understand."
"It’s because of my Judgment Sequence. It allows me to trade a portion of my lifespan to eliminate an enemy. The more powerful the enemy, the more life it costs, but it’s a guaranteed kill."
"The Spiritual Sect’s ’Him’ is afraid of me. Afraid that I’ll trade my life for his the moment he’s resurrected. That’s why they want to kill me before the Spirit Realm descends. That’s why there’s been a never-ending stream of Spiritualist Priests coming after us, why someone has always been trying to get me killed."
At this point, Su Yu said no more.
Su Xing completely understood what Su Yu meant. It meant that in this final period before the Spirit Realm’s arrival, the Spiritual Sect would likely become more frenzied than ever before.
All the hidden High Priests, Assistant Bishops, Bishops, and even Archbishops would emerge, all for the sole purpose of grinding Su Yu down, to allow the Spiritual Sect’s ’Him’ to return to the mortal world more easily.
Thinking of this, Su Xing’s eyes narrowed. He glanced at the still-progressing bar, a murderous aura radiating from him as he muttered,
"Why is this Spiritual Sect like a bunch of cockroaches? You just can’t seem to kill them all!"
"Brother, what did you say?"
"Nothing. Yu, you are not to use your Judgment Sequence again. I will protect you."
Su Xing said softly, patting Su Yu’s shoulder.
Su Yu knew that nothing in life was certain. He couldn’t say for sure when he might have to use his Judgment Sequence again. But for now, he simply nodded without saying anything more.
...
Dragon Heaven Building.
Dragon Heaven Building, the base of operations for the Spiritualist Priests, was now empty save for a single Assistant Priest. He sat there, staring blankly at the ceiling.
He had thought the Divine Wind Plan would surely succeed, but it had ended with every Priest dead. This left him, a lowly Assistant Priest, with no idea how to survive.
Just as he was about to give in to despair and end it all by jumping from the building, the phone lying beside him suddenly lit up.
He subconsciously picked it up with his right hand, and a voice, hoarse to the point of being grating, came from the phone.
"Heh heh, do you want to live?"
