Chapter 5: Chapter 5: A Branch as a Sword

"Anyone can talk tough."

"Let’s kill him together!"

The bald man spoke in a low drone. His words were muffled, but his voice was chillingly cold, enough to make one’s heart ache.

The man with the crew cut standing next to him tensed, his muscles bulging and veins popping. He gave a slight nod, then reached into his pocket and pulled out a small knife identical to the bald man’s.

The two small knives were pointed at Su Xing.

The moonlight glinted off the blades, casting a sinister, cold light onto Su Xing’s face.

The bald man started walking toward Su Xing, step by step. The other man, afraid Su Xing would turn and run, didn’t advance with him. Instead, he snuck through the darkness to get behind Su Xing, forming an encirclement to trap him.

"Don’t blame me. You saw something you shouldn’t have. Once we’ve performed your ’dirty funeral,’ you’ll be thanking us."

The bald man drew closer to Su Xing step by step, a constant droning sound coming from his mouth that started to irritate Su Xing.

To be honest,

the bald man didn’t take a young kid like Su Xing seriously at all.

Su Xing looked well-built,

but most people these days just had show muscles. They had no combat experience. Faced with armed men like them, they’d be scared into begging for their lives in just a few moves.

So he wasn’t worried about Su Xing fighting back.

His only concern was that Su Xing might just run.

But this kid in front of him seemed truly young and naive, foolishly standing there without moving a muscle. By the time his accomplice had cut off his escape route,

Su Xing had become a bird in a cage.

"Heh heh, so obedient. Since you’re being so good, I’ll make your death quick and painless."

The bald man was just a few steps away from Su Xing. He tightened his grip on the knife, ready to kill him on the spot, when he suddenly heard Su Xing speak slowly:

"Don’t worry. My sword is very fast."

"What?"

Su Xing’s voice wasn’t loud, and the man didn’t quite catch it. He asked instinctively.

But the next second,

he realized he hadn’t seemed to hear his own voice.

As he considered whether to say it again,

he suddenly realized he could no longer hear any other sounds.

The lapping of the lake, the chirping of insects in the woods, the distant, occasional honk of a car—

all these sounds were replaced by the piercing shriek of a blade cutting through the air.

VMM!

An incredibly sharp slash suddenly echoed through the night, accompanied by the crisp snap of bones being severed. A fountain of blood sprayed out, hanging for a moment before the bald man’s astonished eyes before falling mercilessly to the ground.

Su Xing, using a tree branch as his sword, swung. A line of white light blossomed from the base of the branch, striking the body of the bald man who was charging at him.

Cut in two with a single slash!

In the dark of night, the white line was exceptionally bright.

Su Xing saw with perfect clarity the terrified expression on the bald man’s face as he was split in two.

’Is this the White Line Slash?’

Su Xing gave the branch a hard flick, splattering the remaining blood onto the ground. Then, expressionless, he turned to face the man behind him, whose pupils had constricted in terror.

He stared in despair as Su Xing walked toward him, step by step.

Before he and the bald man had made their move, he never would have imagined that a seemingly ordinary young man could be so dangerous. This was someone he absolutely could not afford to provoke.

"Th-this... that... this is all a big misunderstanding!"

Smelling the coppery scent of blood in the air, the crew-cut man couldn’t help but swallow hard. His legs began to tremble. He struggled to remain calm and quickly said:

"We’re from the Spiritual Sect... We’re doing all this to see the great He!"

"If you join us... join us, you can see the great He, too! He can grant all your wishes and desires!"

"Just let me go! I can recommend you to join our sect... You’ll definitely... definitely receive His grace!"

"Heh heh, grant me grace?"

"I’m more curious if your ’great He’ will show up to grace you with your lives when I swing my sword."

Su Xing said coldly.

He had no patience for this kind of cult.

"No, no, no, spare me! Spare me!"

The crew-cut man heard the killing intent in Su Xing’s voice. He immediately fell to his knees, a wet patch spreading on the ground beneath him. He cried out, his voice choked with sobs:

"My contribution is almost enough! It’s almost enough! He’s going to grant me Extraordinary power! I... I can give this chance for a blessing to you!"

"Please, let me go!"

"Heh heh, I just want to send you to meet Him. No need to thank me."

Su Xing said icily.

At the same time, he raised the branch high above his head. This would be his most powerful slash. A white glow traveled up the branch from his palm, ultimately transforming it into a brilliant white Light Saber.

Go to hell!!!!

The crew-cut man’s repeated pleas had no effect, which finally awakened his will to fight to the death. He suddenly lunged at Su Xing with all his might, thrusting the small knife toward him.

If this had been yesterday,

back when Su Xing’s slash had yet to break through, he might have actually succeeded.

But the Su Xing of today, strictly speaking, could no longer be considered an ordinary person. His body was stronger, and his reactions were naturally faster.

Su Xing kicked the crew-cut man directly in the face, sending him tumbling. He rolled several times on the ground, blood starting to stream from his body and face. A deep, clear indentation was visible where Su Xing’s foot had connected.

Then, the branch in his hand slashed down. The sword’s light flared, converging into a single line!

VMM!

A white line shot through the crew-cut man’s body.

The crew-cut man froze for a moment. He stared at Su Xing in disbelief, as if he’d never imagined that Su Xing’s power with a sword could be so immense.

His mouth opened as if to say something.

But as his lips moved, a line of blood appeared on his body, running from head to toe. It slowly split open, and finally, with a wet POP, he burst completely in two.

"You are..."

"I am... what?"

Su Xing’s cold question hung in the night air, but there was no one left to answer. He slowly let out a breath and muttered,

"I should have killed him more slowly."

Having killed two men, Su Xing was unexpectedly calm.

He just stared quietly at the two corpses, both cut in half by his sword, his mind already working on how to dispose of them.

"I’ll toss them in the lake," he murmured to himself.

The Sword Hall where Su Xing worked was in the suburbs. Hardly anyone ever came out here, and there were no surveillance cameras. That’s why these two had dared to dump a body in the lake here. Toss a corpse in the water, wait for it to rain, and all traces would be gone without a whisper. ƒrēewebnovel.com

He never expected,

that they would be disposed of in the exact same way.

Just after Su Xing tossed both bodies into the lake,

BOOM!

A clap of thunder suddenly echoed across the sky.

’Looks like... it’s about to rain.’ Su Xing looked up at the sky and a smile touched his lips.

’Heaven is on my side.’

’Time to head back.’
