Chapter 117: Chapter 108: Wrath

"Is it over?"

The two people on the highway bridge hid behind a car, peeking over the edge of the road and looking down with a mixture of tension and terror.

Just moments ago, the highway had suddenly crumbled, and Su Xing and the Angry Vice Bishop had plummeted into the fields below. Their movements in mid-air were too fast to see clearly, and the exchange was over in an instant. Still, the two onlookers managed to see the moment they landed, clashed, and were both sent flying.

Su Xing was only knocked back five or six meters, ultimately landing in a rice paddy which greatly cushioned his fall.

The Angry Vice Bishop, however, was a completely different story. He shot back like a cannonball for dozens of meters, only stopping when he crashed straight into a house. In terms of injuries, he was definitely hurt much more severely than Su Xing.

"I... I think it’s over."

The driver stammered, his breathing unconsciously growing shallow and quiet, as if he were afraid of being overheard.

At the other end of the highway, the Catastrophe High Priest stood ramrod straight, his eyes narrowed as he stared down below.

He had originally wanted to help the Angry Vice Bishop, but after witnessing several rounds of combat between the Vice Bishop and the mysterious expert, he immediately abandoned the idea.

In a battle of this caliber, it would be suicide for a Tier Four Sequencer to enter the fray.

Therefore, he could only hide to the side, silently watching their explosive exchange. When he saw the Vice Bishop get sent flying by Su Xing’s sword, he couldn’t help but frown.

It wasn’t that he thought the Vice Bishop had died.

The Catastrophe High Priest had witnessed the Vice Bishop’s ability to swap bodies by consuming people. Killing him was incredibly difficult, not to mention there were surely plenty of ordinary people still hiding on the highway.

It was just that Su Xing’s strength far exceeded the Catastrophe High Priest’s expectations.

This made him begin to doubt whether the Vice Bishop could end the fight before that Tier Five Sequencer from the special organization arrived. If he couldn’t, they would have to face the combined forces of the mysterious expert and a Tier Five Sequencer. There would be no escape.

’The Vice Bishop... has to end this, and fast!’

Under their collective gaze, Su Xing slowly got to his feet. He felt a sweet taste rise in his throat and forced himself to swallow a mouthful of fresh blood.

The close-quarters brawl with the Angry Vice Bishop had indeed left Su Xing with considerable injuries.

If Su Xing had encountered him before his recent major power-up, he likely would have been beaten to death in just a few punches, just like last time.

As it was, Su Xing’s body was now covered in fist-shaped bruises and burns. Although they weren’t deep, his insides were in turmoil. The areas where he’d been struck felt like a tangled mess.

Su Xing was well aware that he had suffered significant internal injuries. However, since his "Spirit Sword" could heal him the moment combat ended, these wounds had almost no lasting impact on him.

Besides, the Angry Vice Bishop’s injuries could only be far, far more severe than his own.

"AHHH!!!"

"Who... who are you?!"

A woman’s scream and a man’s terrified question echoed from inside the house. Su Xing’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly looked up, a thought racing through his mind:

’There are people in that house!’

Most houses out in the fields like this were abandoned. Su Xing had never imagined that two people would be living in such a dilapidated building. His expression instantly turned cold.

The thought flashed past. With no time for further consideration, he stomped his right foot, and water from the paddy exploded into the air.

With a thunderous crack, he became an astonishingly blurred afterimage, kicking up a howling wind as he charged into the house the Angry Vice Bishop had crashed into.

However, he was still a step too late!

The moment Su Xing charged in, he saw the woman held by the Angry Vice Bishop. She was like a lollipop.

Nearly half of her head was stuffed into the Vice Bishop’s mouth. If he was allowed to bite down completely, he would successfully use his body-swapping ability, and his injuries would once again be fully healed!

As if to prevent Su Xing from interrupting his Sequence’s process, the Angry Vice Bishop held the screaming woman in front of him like a human shield.

He was certain Su Xing wouldn’t dare to strike the woman directly. As if mocking him, the corners of his mouth twisted into a savage and cruel sneer aimed at Su Xing.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Su Xing’s Black Sword flashed out as a single thought crossed his mind:

’I’m sorry.’

With more than half her head already in the Vice Bishop’s mouth, she had practically no chance of survival. Rather than being bitten to death, it was better for Su Xing to send her on her way himself!

BOOM!!

Su Xing’s sword strike was simply too fast.

The Angry Vice Bishop, completely caught off guard by Su Xing’s decisiveness in striking an ordinary person, had no time to react and failed to devour the woman’s head in one go.

The Black Sword, having evolved from a "Mortal Sword" into a "Spirit Sword," had also grown much heavier. Empowered by Su Xing’s ferocious strength, it tore through the air with a piercing shriek!

Amidst the violent sound of rending air, the strike crashed down like a battle-axe onto the woman’s head. The raw power sent both her and the Angry Vice Bishop flying backward together!

Their bodies slammed into a wall, shattering the concrete and sending them tumbling out of the house in a shower of debris.

However, the Angry Vice Bishop still managed to bite off half of the woman’s head. This triggered a slight change in his body; his once-fatal injuries were reduced to a severe, but no longer life-threatening, state.

The massive commotion immediately drew the attention of the people on the highway, as well as some nearby farmers and passersby. When they saw two figures smash clean through a wall and fly out of the house, a wave of shocked screams erupted from the crowd.
