Chapter 477: Reaching An Agreement

"Handsome~"

Persephone teased with a playful grin, her eyes observing him with curiosity.

"Now that was a neat trick..." She tilted her head to the side. "How did you pull it off?"

Since everybody wanted to know the same thing, nobody said a word.

"Just had an enlightenment of sorts." Michael shrugged nonchalantly. "When I saw how many enemies were remaining, I pondered on how to get rid of them... Fortunately, in the end I managed to comprehend a higher state of one of my techniques, bringing the battle to an end."

His words were the truth. Although he omitted the existence of the System, he basically simplified the process of how it allowed him to grow stronger.

Persephone’s smile widened. Unwilling to let Michael off so easily, she moved to sit beside him, fully intending to have a little fun at his expense.

Only for an aura of undeniable authority to freeze her in a heartbeat. freewebnovёl.ƈom

Before anyone could realize what had transpired, Nicole was already sitting next to Michael.

With a straight back and palms resting on her thighs, she observed him up close, her eyes glowing a bright crimson.

"Commendable." Nicole was impressed. Evolving a technique was often harder than ascending itself, much more so at such a high level.

There was no doubt in her mind that, if used correctly, the God of War was capable of injuring even the Emperor himself.

For reasons unknown to her, Nicole hadn’t been able to get Michael out of her head. With today’s events added to the mix, it had become clear to her that he was a warrior she wanted at her side.

As the strongest Lord in existence, she understood that if her emotions pointed her in a certain direction, it would be wise to follow them.

Still conversing with him, she made eye contact with each Lord individually, her intent more than clear.

He is mine.

Even Persephone was momentarily taken aback. It was rare for someone to surpass her frenzy.

"And they call me the unhinged one... the irony." She clicked her tongue, sitting back in place.

Naturally, Michael welcomed Nicole’s overpowering interest with open arms. Remembering the past relationship they had shared in his previous life brought him treasured memories that restored his mind more effectively than any spring in the world ever could.

He could never forget those eyes...

Meanwhile, Elina and Eliza carried a mixture of feelings regarding Michael.

Way back, due to Victoria’s reports to King Arthur, one had been assigned to watch over his family while the other silently observed him from the shadows.

Rather than feeling jealousy, they experienced a backlash of realization... That he now stood shoulder to shoulder with them in equal, if not greater, power, while they hadn’t moved from their spot.

Was Michael truly such a genius, or had the sister Lords grown so painfully complacent?

In any case, they were glad to have taken part in the expedition. Even if, by the end, they couldn’t absorb enough power to become Queens, they would at least reach the realm of the Supreme Lords.

The rest of the Golden Vanguard collectively agreed that Michael reminded them of King Arthur to an extent.

Undoubtedly, Ember’s reaction was the most shocking of all.

Thanks to the relentless onslaught of monsters, she had gained more from the trial than anyone else. By shattering core after core, she had grown so powerful that the aura she radiated alarmed even the Supreme Lords.

Yet despite the increased gap in strength, she looked at Michael with a new set of eyes.

"That thing you summoned..." Her steady voice spread across the spring. "For a moment, I thought the Almighty had appeared."

Having never seen the Iskra Titan before, Ember had assumed that the war deity was her creator. Learning that the entity had been created by Michael only deepened the respect she held for him.

’These human creatures are not to be underestimated...’ Ember vowed to regard them as equals from now on.

Noctis didn’t bother asking anything, simply enjoying the brief rest, while Francesca swarmed Michael with every question that had come to mind.

With the conversation they had shared before entering the tower still fresh in her mind, now coupled with the might Michael had displayed, her worldview had been completely turned upside down.

He calmly answered her questions, not revealing anything that could be considered weakness or used against him in the future.

Eventually, Francesca’s interrogation was halted when Nicole hurled a look at her.

Enough.

Understanding the message, she didn’t trouble Michael with any further questions.

With nothing much to do, the Lords focused on meditating, eager to face the next floor at full strength.

The countdown reached a minute. The Sacred Spring trembled, signaling that the next trial was about to begin.

"We are about to be teleported." Nicole called out to the others.

Then she shifted her gaze to the side and caressed Michael’s neck as she whispered. "Are you ready?"

The unexpected murmur sent a shiver down his spine before he nodded in response.

Fully anticipating the trial to be harder than the last, Michael recalled his soul weapons, bracing himself for the battle.

Having watched the exchange in the spring, the two weapons simultaneously spoke.

’Well done, Partner! There’s nothing like a dangerous woman who can kill you—’ Devil remark began.

’Heavens! Did you notice the way she looked at you—’ Angel entered her romanticized commentary.

Considering how long he had lived, Michael had thought he had seen it all. That was until Devil and Angel actually came to an agreement... about love of all things.

"Perhaps because they are a part of my soul, my subconscious affects them?" Michael arrived at the only logical explanation.

Nevertheless, he didn’t have much time to ponder. The squad turned into particles and was teleported to the next trial.

Stepping onto solid land, Michael assessed his surroundings for any immediate danger.

Once he confirmed the coast was clear, he glanced at the newly appeared notifications on his system.
