Chapter 1172: Chapter 1171: Martial Arts Tournament
The leaders of Bordeaux Planet’s rogue groups couldn’t believe they had gathered so many people, taking advantage of every favorable condition, but still suffered a tragic defeat and lost many capable subordinates.
In this battle, they mobilized over a hundred people, plus the private mobilization of the Governor’s Guard by the Governor’s lover, reaching nearly a hundred and fifty people. With such manpower against just one enemy, even the Governor’s lover said, with this many people, it’s enough to kill a dragon.
However, what they absolutely didn’t expect was that almost all of their elite troops were wiped out.
Before the ambush began, they optimistically estimated that by losing twenty people, never exceeding thirty, they could heavily injure or even kill one of the opposing individuals.
But when the actual results came out, they were all dumbstruck.
The worst hit was the Bald one, who sent out twenty men, only one returned, and that person was severely traumatized, almost becoming imbecilic.
With Bald’s situation being like this, the other three leaders’ subordinates were naturally no better off.
The outcome of the battle was like a cold shower, waking them up to the realization that they had severely underestimated the enemy’s strength; these three aliens weren’t someone they could easily deal with.
Better late than never to mend the fold.
Three out of the four rogue leaders understood the situation, deciding to withdraw despite suffering a silent loss, which was better than losing everything.
The only one who remained stubborn was the guy with a gloomy face who wanted to stab Jiang Cheng but got cut by Jiang Cheng instead. As someone who never forgets a grudge, Jiang Cheng’s cut was deeply remembered by him.
However, given the terrifying strength of the three alien individuals, his stubbornness only hurt him.
After the other three rogue leaders stated their stance, they left.
Watching his allies leave, the gloomy-faced guy started smashing things in the room, throwing various items to the ground in a frenzy, continuously cursing his allies and those three alien individuals. At this moment, he became a beast.
His hair was disheveled and his face was an unnatural reddened hue. He breathed heavily, sometimes mumbling, sometimes cursing loudly, causing white foam to gather at the corners of his mouth.
After a long time, he finally calmed down, standing in the empty room, and suddenly sat down.
In the past, he believed himself clever enough to manipulate his allies at will, but now he realized that the reason they listened was because they gained plenty of benefits by doing so.
They were content not to have to think too hard.
But once their interests were threatened, or even their lives endangered, no matter how eloquently he spoke, his allies would remain indifferent.
Just like now, although his allies knew that eliminating those three aliens would yield a fortune, it was simply too dangerous, so they chose to withdraw.
They’d rather forgo the money than oppose those three aliens any further.
"Cowards!
Scaredy-cats!
Good-for-nothings!" the gloomy-faced guy muttered curses inside, having exhausted himself with the previous outburst.
The gloomy-faced guy stood up, pacing back and forth in the room, forced to settle down and carefully consider his next move.
The gloomy-faced guy was someone who wouldn’t give up until he hit rock bottom, or perhaps it’s more accurate to describe him as "cry only when facing the coffin."
"Hello." the monitor hanging on the wall rang, indicating someone wanted to talk.
The Governor’s lover appeared on the screen.
As she was about to speak, she noticed the mess in the room.
"What happened? Where are the others?" The Governor’s lover was surprised.
"Others? There’s no one else now, only me left." The gloomy-faced guy replied instinctively.
"What do you mean?" The Governor’s lover frowned; they had just united to wage war against those three alien individuals, and it was not the time for any complications.
...
"Tong, those cowardly guys all quit; this bunch of bastards!" the gloomy-faced guy cursed.
The lover didn’t respond; she hadn’t expected such a situation to occur.
"Why did they suddenly quit? We just started fighting those three!" The Governor’s lover questioned.
"When it came to the actual battle, theirs turned cowardly; they want to protect themselves, so they wouldn’t fight anymore." The gloomy-faced guy sneered.
"Well, now you seem useless to me." The Governor’s lover’s tone grew cold.
"What did you say! I’m useless? Even you look down on me?" The gloomy-faced guy retorted.
"Aren’t you?" Rather than closing the screen, the Governor’s lover seemed pleased with what she heard.
"I have already started mobilizing my subordinates, go find some skilled masters for me," the gloomy-faced guy revealed his plan: "As long as they are on Bordeaux Planet, they won’t find peace!"
Hearing his words, the lover’s expression finally showed satisfaction: "Good, I thought you were scared and ready to retreat."
"Even if you still have the fighting spirit, I can assure you, the rewards I promised you remain in effect." The Governor’s lover assured.
It’s no longer a matter of money now, but of fighting them till the end—either they die, or I live; there are no other choices.
With ire, the gloomy-faced guy declared.
"Alright, I’ll support you." The lover decided to disclose part of her plan to this guy.
"Have you heard the combat tournament has changed venues?"
"What about it?" The gloomy-faced guy reacted indifferently.
"Keke, even you didn’t know? I always thought you were smarter than your fellow comrades." The lover teased without revealing the truth: "Figure it out yourself."
Before leaving, she threw another comment: "Don’t lose heart, I expect good news from you."
The rogue leaders of Bordeaux Planet realized they couldn’t overcome those three aliens, hence they refused the gloomy-faced guy’s plea.
Although defeating them promised riches, the prerequisite was defeating them, which they couldn’t achieve.
Continuing to fight them could spell disaster; dying with wealth unspent was unacceptable.
Therefore, the three rogue leaders withdrew from the plan against Jiang Cheng, leaving only the grudge-holding gloomy-faced guy unwilling to give up.
He gambled everything against Jiang Cheng, spending lavishly to hire experts to confront them. After all, Bordeaux Planet was full of people ready to enter the combat tournament, among whom there were skilled fighters.
