Chapter 1152: Chapter 1151: The Best Buyer

When it came to these lowlife scum from the provinces, the Governor and the others refused to answer.

After getting cold-shouldered, that gloomy-faced man didn’t mind at all; he just gave a sinister smile and stepped aside.

He didn’t say anything, but Fatty still knew what he meant: that was the signal he could make a move.

"Oh? You two are still here!" With that voice, Bald and Old Hill also walked in.

The hotel instantly got lively.

The four big shots of Bordeaux Planet all turned up in this hotel at the same time.

The gloomy-faced guy and Fatty kept quiet, while the latecomers Bald and Old Hill wore squinty, smiling faces.

They were in a great mood. Even though they’d been a step slower, at least they’d caught this train in the end.

The four of them, plus Lord Governor, five in total, sat down on the sofas and began discussing the Flaming Firebird.

Credit where it’s due, Old Hill was actually somewhat useful.

This old geezer, after stepping into the hotel and giving Qunzi a skin-deep smile and greeting, immediately noticed Lord Governor surrounded by guards.

Unlike the other three, Old Hill recognized this man of exalted status.

"My god, what kind of blessing is this, that I can actually see Lord Governor on Bordeaux!" Once he confirmed the man in front of him really was Lord Governor, he hurried up to greet him.

Even though this old guy in front of them was clearly in cahoots with the rest, since his chatter could at least make people feel somewhat amused, the Governor and his lover still accepted his flattery.

"Forgive my forwardness, may I ask what brings Lord Governor here?" Old Hill’s deferential attitude left his three partners stunned. Was this still that venomous old schemer Old Hill, full of tricks?

"We’re here to buy a bird." Lord Governor said bluntly; he had no desire to waste words arguing with this scum. Old Hill laughed, feeling delighted.

The moment he saw Lord Governor’s expression, he knew he hadn’t bought the bird yet—otherwise he would’ve left long ago. Besides, he hadn’t seen the bird anywhere.

"Looks like Lord Governor’s wishes haven’t been fulfilled." Old Hill smiled with a flash of cunning in his eyes. "Although I don’t know the specifics, please allow me and my friends to be of humble service to you, my Lord."

Old Hill was indeed an old fox, sly as they come. Although he was the last to arrive, the moment he showed up he seized the initiative at the scene.

Lord Governor nodded happily. Old Hill’s speech was humble to the extreme. Even though it was a democratic age now and this kind of groveling was out of fashion, having someone treat him this way still felt very good.

"Then, please allow me a moment, Lord Governor, to discuss matters with my friends. What do you think?" Old Hill asked.

"Fine, we’ll wait for your discussion to finish. Today, no matter what, we’re taking that bird!" The Governor’s lover glared at Ba Lv through gritted teeth and said, "Even if she drops dead the moment she’s in my hands, I’m still buying her!"

Old Hill immediately understood where the problem lay. It had to be that this little girl refused to sell her pet, so the Governor hadn’t gotten what he wanted.

But that wasn’t a problem—now that they were here.

Old Hill didn’t ignore Ba Lv’s existence. After scrutinizing her several times, he asked Qunzi beside him, "This little girl is the bird’s owner?"

Fatty was currently full of regret. He hadn’t expected Old Hill and Bald to move so fast and end up carving off a share of the pie from him.

"Yeah, it’s her." Fatty’s reply sounded dispirited.

Old Hill knew perfectly well what he was thinking, but given the circumstances he couldn’t say much more. "You figured out what her background is?" Old Hill was older and more cautious in his ways. The girl in front of him was young, but to be standing here in this kind of situation without a hint of fear meant either she had backing and wasn’t afraid, or she was... something else entirely.

"We asked. He and I both asked." Fatty pointed at the gloomy-faced guy—whose face now looked even uglier.

Old Hill relaxed. Since Qunzi and that guy had both questioned her, there was no need for him to waste any more time.

"Come, come, let’s sit down and talk." Once Lord Governor and his lover sat down on the sofa—as for that woman, she’d been standing for so long that she really was tired, so she didn’t care whether the sofa was ’clean’ anymore—Old Hill waved his partners over.

The scene in front of them was quite comical: five buyers—four local gang leaders and the Governor—sat together, and the only person not invited to the table was the seller.

Ba Lv didn’t get angry. Not only did she not leave, she actually found a spot nearby and sat down.

She knew this wasn’t over yet—and that was exactly what she wanted.

She studied the people in front of her with great interest. Which one of them should she start with later?

Ever since she’d left Erma Planet, she hadn’t had a proper fight with anyone, and her hands were itching.

She’d been planning to really cut loose during the upcoming fighting tournament.

What she hadn’t expected was that this bunch would deliver themselves to her doorstep, giving her a chance to vent a little ahead of time—something she was more than happy to accept.

She sat quietly off to the side, waiting for them to finish their discussion.

What Ba Lv ran into was, although there were five people wanting to buy the Firebird—and Delmar wasn’t here, so she alone could stand in as the bird’s owner—they all treated her as if she didn’t exist.

Ba Lv was very clear: if she hadn’t been the Firebird’s owner, these five wouldn’t have allowed her to be here at all.

Right now, the five of them were plotting on the sofas. The true buyers, Lord Governor and his lover, after naming their price, just sat there without saying another word.

The remaining four were busy haggling over how to carve up the profits. "Why should I split this evenly with you?" Qunzi snapped. "If you’re not happy, I can always pick a small fry to take out!"

"But you’ll end up paying a much bigger price over this," Old Hill said unhurriedly, in a soft voice, his heart secretly delighted.

He hadn’t held out much hope for this deal, since he was the last one to find the place.

He hadn’t expected to still make it in. Talk about better late than never.

He glanced at Qunzi with pity. "The best buyer is standing right next to you, and you didn’t even notice!"

Qunzi lowered his head.

He hadn’t expected to run into that damned Governor here of all places.

"I’ve helped you save time and boosted your efficiency," Old Hill said. "That way, all of us get to relax."

"Besides, we’ve got more important things to do. Compared to this deal—sure, it can make us a nice chunk of cash—but the fighting tournament is what we really need to focus on. That’s a long-term, slow and steady payoff."

Old Hill talked while observing Qunzi.

"So let’s wrap this up quickly, then sit down and hammer out the details for the fighting tournament."

After hearing Old Hill out, Qunzi looked at the gloomy-faced man, then turned to Bald.
