Chapter 1735: Dinosaurs
Xolotl and the others started to rise into the sky. Nathan panicked, knowing that the situation was severe.
He immediately summoned Nidhogg, Orochi, and Tiamat.
"This..." Tiamat sensed it right away and realized the danger.
Nathan asked the others to summon their familiars, getting ready for whatever. Unfortunately, without the divine bodies, they couldn’t exit this planet.
"Dear, what is going on?" Selena asked.
"Why are they going up there?" Evelyn frowned.
Nathan scratched the back of his head. "Have any of you ever seen a falling star?"
"I have."
"I have."
"I have read something about that."
They had their own answers, but it looked like they knew about the falling stars.
"If you leave this world by using the portal to another world, you won’t know the shape of this world.
"Our world is..." Nathan raised his hand. He used his own ena to recreate the solar system. He didn’t know about the system for this planet, but he just tried to imitate what he knew about the solar system. "...something like this. We are living in one of these spheres.
"Of course, we have a moon, but other objects we can find in the sky are actually worlds like ours, but they might not be habitable.
"Either way, a world is like this. We are orbiting our sun, which creates the day and night cycle.
"However, there are other objects outside our world. The planets are one thing, but our sun is just one of the stars in the sky. However, ours is simply closer to us, which turns it into the sun.
"Other than them, there are rocks. They’re normally called asteroids. They’re floating freely in outer space.
"Because outer space is in a state of vacuum, this means there is no air out there, which is why you need to have a divine body to get out of this world.
"But that’s not the matter right now. Because of this state, you will continue to float in the same direction and at the same speed.
"If small asteroids enter our world, they will be burned in the sky and reduced to nothing. You will be able to see them like falling stars.
"However, big enough rocks can hit this world and release tremendous energy. What I’m worried about right now is the size of that asteroid and its speed.
"A big enough asteroid can lead humanity to extinction. This is probably much worse than the volcanic eruption.
"If the asteroid is broken into pieces, they will hit all over the world and burn them. Some will release tremendous force that will cause earthquakes or tsunamis.
"That’s probably a much better outcome. There are asteroids big enough to actually destroy our world immediately. It’s practically crushing the world like you’re breaking a rock.
"The atm... I mean, the sky that is protecting us, which is the reason why we have the air to breathe and aren’t burned by our own sun, or so many other things that might kill us, will break apart. As a result, this world becomes inhabitable. No air to breathe, nothing." freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Nathan explained everything in a way he could. He might be able to explain it better had he studied more about this, but he didn’t.
Still, it was more than enough for everyone to learn how dangerous the attack was.
They wanted to ask how Nathan knew about this, but this wasn’t the best time to ask him.
"So, we need to go up there as well?" Selena asked. "Our familiars won’t be able to leave us. At most, they can go as far as 4 km right now, maybe 5 km." freewebnovёl.ƈom
"I know that. They’re currently observing the movements." Nathan nodded, looking up. The familiars were up high in the sky, but they hadn’t left this world yet.
Evelyn took a deep breath. "Can we use the space element to teleport the asteroid?"
"Worth a try, but I don’t think we will succeed. I’m afraid that the one sending this asteroid is Yog-Sothoth, the one governing space and time. If we use our power, Yog-Sothoth must have a way to negate it."
Evelyn looked down, contemplating. Sera said, "I’m not so sure if I can boost them if they’re too far."
Nathan nodded. "If we fly, the air will become extremely thin. Staying there for a prolonged time might harm our body, but we have to do it. Don’t push yourself. Use your energy to protect your body. Our familiars will try to stop the asteroid right outside the world... maybe deflect it. I don’t know, but for now I want us to fly right now."
They looked at each other and nodded before rising into the sky.
"Xolotl, Garuda, Tiamat. What’s the situation?" Nathan asked.
Mae actually came to him and used her illusion. She was showing a big asteroid covered in green-colored energy.
"It looks like there is an asteroid. I’m not so sure about the size yet, but according to the rough calculation, it should be about a fifth of this planet. It’s covered by a tremendous amount of energy, most likely containing the time element. This must be a ’gift’ from Yog-Sothoth."
Nathan frowned. "Don’t tell me... This asteroid was supposed to hit our planet one and a half months ago after we exhausted our energy fighting against the apex class aliens? That way, we don’t have enough time to recover our energy to even deflect this asteroid?"
"Most likely. You can say that your marriage has saved the world... at least for one and a half months." Mae nodded. "Your luck is amazing, but this is still going to be troublesome."
"What do you mean?"
"Yog-Sothoth might understand that there is an invisible force that is messing with its attack. As a result, it changes its strategy. Because it has time, it is pouring its own energy into the asteroid, making it much harder to deflect, let alone destroy. We don’t know if we can actually stop this, even if we work together." Mae shook her head helplessly.
"This..." Nathan gasped. He had been solving problems with his wits because he could play a role in that plan. But this time, he was completely hopeless. He could only rely on his familiars’ firepower.
At this rate, he might become like the dinosaurs on Earth.
