Chapter 1578: Chapter 1578: Joy, Is That You?
Hayden Crawford covered Serena Sterling’s mouth to stop her from talking nonsense. "That won’t happen. I promise you, we will definitely find Joy, and we will also find Willow."
Three years ago, Willow Crawford went through hell and back to give birth to the child, and Serena took her to a secret mountain estate for treatment that lasted more than half a year. The treatment went relatively smoothly. Even in her coma, Willow had a powerful will supporting her, so the treatment was a success.
That day Serena went out for a while, and when she came back, Willow had woken up—and disappeared.
There were no surveillance cameras around that secret mountain estate. Once Willow left, there was no trace of her at all. What made it worse was that, for safety’s sake at the time, Serena had changed Willow’s face.
Serena didn’t know whether Willow had realized that the face she had now wasn’t actually her own. She figured probably not, because once Willow’s real face was exposed, her identity as Princess Willow would be exposed along with it. After all, who didn’t know Princess Willow? Just a quick search online and there she was.
In these three years, Willow hadn’t been able to go see little Joy even once, and Morgan Ashworth had already started to resent her for it. Serena knew Morgan had always been sending people to investigate Willow.
"Joy is such a pitiful child. He’s never even met his mommy since he was born. Back then Willow gave up her own life to protect this son, so nothing can happen to the two of them, mother and son. Otherwise, I won’t be able to go on living either." Serena loved her daughter fiercely, and she also adored Ethan Ashworth. Right now she was frantic with anxiety.
Hayden Crawford wrapped an arm around his wife’s shoulders. "They’ll be fine. We have to believe in Willow and Joy. Even though we haven’t found them yet, they’ve already survived worse storms than this. I have a feeling that maybe the two of them will reunite before we do."
...
Ethan Ashworth had run away from home with his little backpack on. He was going to his grandma’s house to find his mommy. He wanted to prove to his daddy that his mommy really did love him.
But after wandering around this city by himself for a while, he quickly got lost. Only then did he remember that his grandma didn’t even live here.
What was he going to do?
Ethan looked back the way he came and realized he didn’t recognize the way home anymore either.
By this time, a few child traffickers had already set their sights on Ethan. He was as delicate and pretty as a porcelain doll; walking down the street, he drew a lot of attention. They had followed him all the way, confirming there were no adults with him, and he seemed to be lost.
The traffickers exchanged a glance, then stepped forward. "Hey, little guy, are you out here all by yourself? Did you lose your way?"
Ethan watched the traffickers walking toward him and immediately had a bad feeling. These people really looked like bad guys.
"Little guy, how about this, we uncles take you home, okay?" one of the traffickers said with a smile.
Ethan suddenly pointed behind them. "Daddy, I’m over here!"
The traffickers immediately turned around.
Ethan bolted and ran.
When the traffickers turned back and saw no one there, they realized they’d been tricked. This little brat was actually this alert and clever. "Hurry up and catch him!"
Ethan ran until he was gasping for breath and, without realizing it, had already reached a remote little alley. He looked back; he had shaken off those trafficker uncles.
He was safe.
Ethan gulped in big breaths of air, but where was this place? He was even more lost now.
Ethan couldn’t help feeling a little regretful. He shouldn’t have run away from home.
Just then, someone suddenly walked toward him from ahead. "Little Joy, is that you?"
Ethan looked up, and his eyes lit up. It was actually Teacher Kiki.
