Chapter 186: Training Ground
No One’s Pov
Before she could even open her mouth to answer his question, Lily’s killer instincts suddenly picked up something completely abnormal. Her ears twitched as she heard the faint sound of cautious footsteps coming from the far end of the hallway.
Without wasting a single second to explain, she used her strength to forcefully drag Lucian straight into the dark study room, quietly closing the door behind them. Before he could react, she shoved him inside a small, cramped supply closet nearby and squeezed herself in right after him, locking the narrow door from the inside.
Lucian was completely stunned by her sudden, aggressive movements. His mind went totally blank as he found himself trapped in the pitch-black space with her.
"What in the world do you think you are doing?!" Lucian began to snap loudly, his face flushing with anger.
But before he could shout any further, Lily forcefully interrupted him by placing her small, cold hand directly over his mouth. "Shhh," she whispered right against his ear, her voice dropping to serious tone. She gently moved her hand away and pointed her finger toward the narrow space in the closet door.
Lucian, swallowing his rage, carefully leaned forward and looked out through the small crack. His heart stopped. Walking silently into the study room was a tall, heavily built figure dressed entirely in black gear. It was another assassin attack.
Lily’s eyes tracked the intruder’s precise movements. Unlike the fake attacker from the night before, this man moved with genuine precision. Lily knew instantly that this time, the attack wasn’t a test ordered by Mr. Viella. This was a real dangerous killer.
The biggest problem was that they currently had absolutely no weapons with them right now. They were completely defenseless. They waited in total silence, watching the strange man walk over to the desk, holding a knife in his right hand while his left hand began frantically looking through Mr. Viella’s private files.
While Lily’s intense focus was entirely on tracking the killer’s hands, Lucian was suddenly feeling incredibly weird. The supply closet was extremely tight, forcing Lily’s body to press directly against his chest. He could smell that same faint sweet scent of wild flowers radiating from her skin. He didn’t know what exactly he was feeling- his heart was pounding loudly and his ears were burning bright red but his irritation and confusion grew.
Trying to escape the suffocating closeness, Lucian tried to shift his legs to move slightly away from her. But as he moved his foot, it accidentally struck a metal bucket on the closet floor, making a sudden clink sound.
Lily and Lucian froze instantly, their breath catching in their throats.
Outside, the assassin stopped searching the files completely. He went dead silent, slowly turning his head to look directly at the closet door. He raised his knife, his eyes locking onto their hiding spot.
"Shit," Lucian muttered under his breath, his blood running completely cold.
The dangerous man slowly walked toward them, his boots thudding softly on the carpet.
Lucian gulped hard, his grip tightening as the shadow of the killer stretched across the closet floor.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Lucian’s venomous snake slithered out from a hidden shelf inside the closet, letting out a loud hiss. Lucian looked down at his dangerous pet and gave a quick nod.
Before Lily could do anything to stop him, Lucian aggressively stormed out of the closet, launching a surprise attack directly on the man.
Lucian lunged forward throwing a powerful punch straight at the assassin’s jaw. The killer stumbled back, shocked by the sudden assault.
At the exact same moment, Lucian’s snake whipped across the floor. The reptile coiled itself tightly around the assassin’s ankle, sinking its sharp fangs deep into the man’s boot, trying to pierce the thick leather. The assassin cried out in frustration, swinging his knife wildly to slash at the snake.
Lucian used that exact distraction to deliver a harsh kick to the man’s ribs, sending him crashing into a wooden chair.
Lily stepped out of the dark closet, her eyes analyzing the chaotic scene. Seeing the intruder recovering quickly, Lucian shouted over his shoulder, "Go call the guards right now!"
Lily nodded instantly and ran toward the main study door to get help. But the moment she threw the door open, her path was completely blocked. Three more armed men came rushing into the room, their blades gleaming in the dim moonlight.
Lily stopped in her tracks and glared at them. There was no escape now. They had to fight their way out.
Without a word, Lily sprang into action, joining Lucian in the center of the room. A massive, chaotic brawl broke out.
Lily ducked low under a swing from the first new attacker. She grabbed his extended arm, using his own momentum to flip him over her shoulder, sending him crashing face-first into the hard floor.
Beside her, Lucian was fighting like a wild animal. He blocked a blade with a metal desk lamp. His venomous snake stayed right by his side, snapping and hissing fiercely at anyone who tried to get close to Lucian’s blind spots, forcing the attackers to constantly look down in fear.
Lily’s compact strength shocking the grown men. She delivered strikes to their throats and knees, while Lucian used his aggression to break their defense. Together, working in perfect sync, they slowly began to overwhelm the intruders.
One by one, the men started falling to the ground, groaning in intense pain.
After a few minutes of intense fighting, the study room finally grew quiet. Lucian stood breathing heavily, wiping a drop of sweat from his forehead. Looking around at the unconscious bodies scattered across the carpet,
Lucian thought he had finally knocked them all out. He let his guard down for a single second, believing the danger had passed.
But suddenly, the very first assassin, who had been bitten by the snake, slowly pushed himself up from the shadows. With a look of pure hatred, he raised a poison-tipped dagger and lunged forward to stab Lucian straight in the back.
"Young Master, watch out!" Lily shouted.
In that split second, she realized Lucian wouldn’t be able to turn around in time.
Without hesitation, Lily sprinted forward and threw her body between them to save him. She reached out her bare hands to catch the incoming blade. The sharp steel sliced deeply across her palms, blood instantly dripping onto the floor as she successfully redirected the weapon away from Lucian’s back.
At that exact moment, the study doors were stormed open with a loud crash. A BANG echoed through the room as a bullet flew through the air, perfectly hitting the remaining assassin and knocking him instantly to the ground.
Mr. Viella stood tall at the open door, his face completely expressionless as he lowered his smoking gun.
Past him, more official family guards walked into the messy room, quickly dragging the unconscious assassins out by their feet. Right behind them, Mrs. Viella stormed into the study, her expensive heels clicking loudly on the floor.
She completely ignored the blood on the carpet and walked straight toward her son, looking at him with immense pride.
"See? My brilliant son is absolutely the most perfect choice for the future head position of this family! Look at him handling today’s dangerous affair so smoothly and bravely," she said proudly, her voice booming through the quiet room as she carefully checked Lucian’s arms and face for any physical wounds.
Lucian stood stiffly, his ears turning slightly red, though this time it was from a mix of pride and annoyance. He glanced around the room, looking for Lily, but his mother kept blocking his view.
Near the doorway, Marcella only shrugged her shoulders carelessly, looking thoroughly bored by the entire dramatic scene. "If that is truly the case, mother, then you should probably make his snakes the head of the family instead.
Because I seriously don’t think he did anything useful out here without them," she muttered, rolling her eyes deeply before turning around to leave.
While the family was completely busy arguing, shouting, and praising Lucian’s victory, Lily stood quietly in the dark corner of the room. Her palms were still bleeding heavily, the warm blood dripping onto her uniform.
Watching them interact, she realized no one was looking at her at all. Wrapping her long skirt slightly around her cut hands to hide the dark stains, Lily silently stepped back into the shadows and left the room without anyone noticing her departure.
She needed to tend to her wounds before her young lady woke up.
The next morning, the bright sunlight crept through the curtains, and Viella slowly woke up.
Usually, Lily would be standing right by her bedside with a fresh uniform and a warm towel the exact moment she opened her eyes. But today, the room was completely quiet, and Lily wasn’t anywhere to be seen.
Where could she have gone? Viella thought, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion as she sat up in her large bed.
She quickly got dressed and walked out into the grand hallway. Seeing a passing housemaid carrying a basket of laundry, Viella stopped her and asked about her missing servant. The housemaid bowed slightly and replied, "The last time I saw Lily, she was walking inside the Master’s private study late last night, My Lady. After that, I don’t know where she went."
Hearing this, Viella grew incredibly anxious. Her heart began to race with fear. She knew her strict father was a dangerous, unpredictable man, and she desperately hoped Lily hadn’t gotten into deep trouble because of the events at school.
Meanwhile, far away from the main building, Lily stood perfectly still in front of Mr. Viella. They were standing in the middle of a massive, wide-open field surrounded by concrete walls, which served as the mansion’s private training ground. The morning wind blew softly, rustling Lily’s hair.
"Are you truly ready for this? You should think carefully once again," Mr. Viella said, a dark smirk playing on his lips as he held a black handgun in his hand.
Lily didn’t show a single hint of fear. She only gave a firm nod of her head.
