Chapter 445: Chapter 358: Single-handed Suppression (Part 1)
As far as the eye could see lay a scene of utter devastation. The once-bustling metropolis had been reduced to a field of scorched, blackened ruins.
Under a sky as dark as ink,
two figures stood facing each other amidst the ruins.
"I’ll have to trouble you with this matter."
The one who spoke was a man in a black trench coat.
A silver mask covered his face, revealing only a pair of exceptionally deep, azure eyes, as vast as the ocean.
This was Kaius, eldest son of Marshal Mukedo, leader of the Western Theater Command.
Across from him stood a short man with a gaunt face.
The man was bald, his face completely devoid of hair. His pupils were tiny, making his eyes appear mostly white and giving him an incredibly eerie look.
This was Blood Demon Jerald, the Seventh Celestial King of the Western Theater Command. In terms of combat prowess, his strength was only considered mid-to-low tier among the Western Theater Command’s Celestial Kings.
However, he possessed an Ability unique to him.
By consuming his blood essence, he could perform temporal backtracking, tracking, and even lay Curses.
"Rest assured, Your Highness. I will devote my full strength to this. For that criminal to act so brazenly is a clear provocation against the dignity of our Western Theater Command.
"I will hunt him down!"
Jerald cackled, his voice sharp and grating.
It sounded like fingernails scraping across a wooden plank.
As he spoke, he sliced his palm open with a flick of his hand. A cut appeared, and a single drop of blood welled forth.
The moment the drop of blood emerged, it instantly flattened out, stretched by an invisible force into a large disc.
Once formed, the disc began to spin, rotating faster and faster.
What was strange was that despite its incredible speed, it didn’t disturb its surroundings in the slightest.
The only change was the surrounding light, which grew so dark that you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
Then, a red light flickered.
An image materialized before them. It quickly stabilized, revealing a scene from three days prior—the Steel City, before its destruction.
However, just two or three seconds after the image appeared...
Suddenly,
a sharp CRACK echoed.
Immediately after,
with a wet PFFT, Jerald’s expression twisted. Blood burst from his body as if he were a ruptured sack, and he was sent flying, landing in a heap to the side.
Worse still, several cracks appeared all over his body.
He looked like a porcelain doll, seemingly on the verge of shattering completely.
Seeing this, Kaius flickered and reappeared in front of Jerald in an instant.
With a lift of his hand,
a light resembling seawater shot from his palm.
It landed on Jerald and enveloped him.
To the naked eye, the horrific injuries on Jerald’s body began to heal at an astonishing rate, and in a flash, he was restored.
Then, the bubble of light burst and vanished without a trace.
"Thank you for your help, Your Highness."
Jerald’s face was pale as he staggered to his feet.
His face was completely drained of color; clearly, he had not fully recovered from his injuries.
"What happened?"
Kaius asked.
"It was that thing... that giant face. I suffered a backlash from just a single glance. That entity is absolutely a terrifying existence, something that surpasses a Human War God."
Jerald said, his voice strained.
As he spoke of the entity, his face revealed a hint of fear that chilled him to the bone.
Upon hearing this,
Kaius fell silent.
He, too, had a profound understanding of that entity’s power.
His own father—a powerful existence who had reached the level of a Human War God and stood at the very apex of the Desolate Star—had been grievously wounded by that entity in a single strike.
"However, I wasn’t entirely without success this time. I saw the face of the one who killed the Second Prince."
At this, Jerald’s tone shifted.
The corners of his mouth curved up as he let out a low chuckle.
As he spoke, he waved his hand. A bloody light rapidly coalesced, gradually forming the image of a face.
A closer look revealed the face to be none other than that of Lin Yi, whose body Hu Qi had possessed.
