Chapter 2029: Chapter 2029: The Sunlight Moon’s Rest
Luviya was very pleased with how Shard spent most of the Sunlight Moon on living and studying. The purple-eyed Miss Diviner would spend the night at No. 6, Saint Delan Square two or three times a week on average, experiencing one intimate and passionate night after another.
Sometimes Luviya would also run into Dorothy, but she didn’t mind. After all, it wasn’t the first time the two of them had spent the night together at Shard’s house. Luviya treated it as a small spice of life.
On very rare occasions, she also encountered Miss Galina spending the night at No. 6, Saint Delan Square. That night was quite a thrilling experience for the outlander. The blushing purple-eyed girl and the seemingly bold yet equally shy Duchess shared a duo tango with him.
Afterwards Miss Galina praised Luviya to Shard, acknowledging that the Female Diviner was indeed worthy of the title bestowed by the pure knight. Luviya, on a private occasion when Shard visited the Prophet’s Society to appraise the [Genesis: Space], complained to him, saying the witches’ bodies truly tended towards perfection:
"Can they really be considered normal humans? How can ordinary girls compare to them?"
"Anyway, they don’t like men, so why should ordinary girls compare themselves to them? Besides, your eyes can match them as well."
"So, is it just my eyes that you fancy?"
When asking this question, Luviya slightly regretted it, feeling like she was having a small tantrum. Fortunately, Shard always managed to satisfy her. The young outlander answered with a smile:
"If you believe I only like your eyes, you can stay over tonight, and I’ll prove that I love all of you."
Luviya playfully slapped him, but indeed stayed the night as a result.
As for outside of Tobesk, on the first weekend of the Sunlight Moon, Miss Aphrola also left Green Island, leaving only Megan in the Green Lake Region as a witch.
And in the middle of the Sunlight Moon, Megan also left there. She had decided to move the key production departments of Paradise Island Pharmaceuticals to "Paradise Island", while the company headquarters would remain at the little duchy where it was registered. Therefore, she needed to go to the headquarters of Paradise Island Pharmaceuticals to coordinate related matters, while the Green siblings and the soul status of Nicholas Green, were busy with the revival of Green Lake Central Island, which was to be renamed "Paradise Island".
Not knowing how long it would take to return to Green Lake, and knowing that during their time away, visiting Shard’s house would not be so easy, Megan and Audrey specifically notified the other girls not to stay at No. 6, Saint Delan Square on the night they came to bid farewell to Shard.
That night, they didn’t actually spend the night with Shard at Saint Delan Square. Instead, they once again invited Shard over, prepared a candlelight dinner in the woodland, and set up a date scene in other areas of the island.
Compared to Miss Galina, who possessed a piece of [Ever-Youth Leaf], Megan and Audrey, if considered as one person, had a physical quality much stronger than the Duchess. Indeed, they could arguably be considered the individuals with the strongest physical quality among the Twelfth Rank Grand Witches.
At night, when Shard was lying on the grassy ground outside Edwards’ Old House chatting under the starlight with Audrey, who was resting against his chest, her moonlit-illuminated witch’s white back, panting heavily, asked Shard to give them the [Ever-Youth Leaf]:
"Oh, Shard, are you really human? Now I understand why Galina is so generous."
So Shard gave away his last piece of the Ever-Youth Leaf. The wise Grand Witch planned not only to become stronger using the leaf but also to try the method from the "Immortality Magic" book Shard shared to become younger:
"The ancestor’s research content on immortality magic looks far inferior to your book. How much research effort did the ancient witches of the Fifth Era put into eternal beauty?"
The age of these half-elf sisters was much older than Miss Galina, Miss Benanis, and Miss Aphrola, yet thanks to their peculiar lineage and personal level, they could maintain their current age for many, many years without researching the "Immortality Magic".
Of course, even with a special lineage and the duality enhancing their bodies, they were still no match for the outlander’s physical shell. On the farewell night, even though Megan and Audrey had the [Ever-Youth Leaf] and forced themselves with the mindset of not seeing Shard for several months, they inevitably fell into deep sleep in Shard’s arms before dawn.
They asked Shard to promise that he wouldn’t forget them before they returned. This romantic and passionate night surely became a shared memory with him.
As for Grace and Helen, the Red Butterly Maidens were quite different from the human girls. They never actively initiated any dates with Shard, but if Shard heard Mia’s calls in the early morning or night and saw a pair of butterflies fluttering into the bedroom, it meant they had arrived.
Compared to the older-sister-like Grace who seemed more mature, Black-skirted Helen preferred bolder attempts. Yet, the seemingly mature Grace would show her inner tenderness and feelings to Shard after Helen fell asleep. Thus, distinguishing them was much easier than telling Megan and Audrey apart, even though the sisters looked completely identical.
The Twin Witches are actually one person, but the Twin Red Butterflies are two people bound by fate.
Sometimes Shard would marvel at his own luck before going to sleep, feeling fortunate to have encountered them.
"But what is the cost?"
He hadn’t forgotten the looming apocalypse, nor the frequent summer snowfalls.
Shard, of course, wasn’t lost in pleasure and enjoyment all the time. Although Megan temporarily left the Green Lake Region, every area of the island was still open to him. Reading the documents and materials left by Raplace Howard also brought Shard considerable gains.
For instance, in the second week of the Sunlight Moon, he confirmed through studies on "Primal Fire" that there should be another split flame in the New World. He informed Sister Delphine of this, and after determining and correcting the location together, Sister Delphine set off to the New World with two high-ringed blind nuns.
Baylens prohibits Correspondence Circle Mages from traveling to that area, and Shard had to prepare for the end-of-July exams, so he couldn’t accompany them.
In addition to Shard’s gains from those books and documents, Luviya, who obtained the divination and astrology notes, also learned a lot. She told Shard that she was quickly picking up the knowledge, as if relearning things she had forgotten.
At the same time, Luviya also read about the making of "Red Butterfly Cards" and made an innovative proposal to shorten the production cycle, which considerably lightened Lecia’s load as she prepared new card materials.
After a chilling summer, the church finally began receiving oracles in the third week of the Sunlight Moon. The True Gods replied to mortals’ questions about the "Apocalypse" and the "End of Days," and the answers from all five True Gods were quite consistent—
["Whispering Verses."]

Sunlight Moon, 21st, Saturday.
At the end of June, light snowflakes fell over Tobesk City, and citizens dressed in long sleeves continued their unusual summer weekend lives.
In the eastern district of the city, behind the Peace Chapel on Saint Isor Street, a black-suited orchestra played the mournful piece "Moonlight Requiem," adding to the morning’s sorrow brought by the snowfall.
A funeral was taking place in the cemetery behind the Peace Chapel, which, although adjacent to the chapel, belonged to the Cavendish family and served as the resting place for most members of the Royal Family after their death.
Not all royal family members currently believe in the True God "Father of Peace," but since Draleon’s first King designated this as the family cemetery, the grounds—though now surrounded by the expanding city—still retained the woodland and lake view, undisturbed by the industrial noise of the steam age, preserving the serenity of the resting Cavendish members.
The subject of the funeral... or rather, the deceased being laid to rest, was Duke Roder of Verne, the uncle of King Larus III, and the brother of Grand Duchess Galina. At fifty-seven, the Duke, Galina’s second elder brother, fell gravely ill due to a cold caught during a vacation earlier this year, and ultimately answered the divine call last week.
Now, as the Duke was to be buried in this blessed family cemetery, nearly all members of the Cavendish Royal Family had gathered here.
Saint Isor Street outside was in lockdown, with agents from MI6 standing vigil in the royal woodland at the cemetery’s edge to ensure even a mosquito couldn’t pass through. Of course, due to the summer’s temperature, there truly weren’t any mosquitos.
While mosquitos couldn’t enter, Shard, who had no blood relation to the Cavendish family, was able to attend.
He wore his usual attire—a black coat paired with black pants, shoes, and hat. Beside him stood Miss Galina, veiled in black.
This time, Shard was invited to the funeral by Miss Galina. Though there were "romance rumors" about him and Miss Galina, technically, he should not have been able to attend this kind of event. It’s unknown what methods Miss Galina used, but on this snowy Saturday morning, Shard joined. Earlier, when the hearse drawn by a carriage carrying the body passed through Tobesk’s streets, allowing the public to pay respects, Shard rode in the same carriage as Miss Galina.
The scale of the ceremony was such that people would believe he had already married the Duchess. Before the funeral, as the kingdom’s grand nobles exchanged pleasantries, people started addressing Shard with respectful language. The Carsonrick Ambassador to Tobesk even praised how well-matched Shard and Miss Galina seemed... At that moment, Lecia, watching Miss Galina’s expression, made Shard worry she might disturb the deceased’s peace.
