Chapter 1370: Chapter 1344: Zhu Qiang’s Triumph
Ye Chen followed the direction of the manager’s finger and saw Zhu Qiang and the others.
"I thought something had happened, turns out it’s just this," Ye Chen said with a helpless expression.
He had been eating with enthusiasm just moments before, but the manager’s interruption instantly killed his appetite.
"Mr. Ye, Zhu Qiang brought Elder Zhu and the others; they’re definitely here to settle accounts with you," the manager kindly reminded.
"Oh, I see," Ye Chen said expressionlessly.
He then continued chatting with Su Wanyi, completely disregarding the manager’s words.
Seeing Ye Chen’s demeanor, not at all worried or afraid, the manager found it a bit strange. Could Ye Chen be pretending?
"Grandpa, he’s the one who bullied me," Zhu Qiang said, bursting with anger the moment he saw Ye Chen and Su Wanyi being so close.
As Zhu Yong was advanced in age and had poor vision, and because Ye Chen had his back to him, he couldn’t clearly see the young man’s face.
"Ah-Qiang, bring that audacious brat here to me. I want to ask him why he provoked you. Does he think the Zhu Family is without people?" Zhu Yong said coldly.
Hearing this, Zhu Qiang looked excited. He knew that everything would be easy as long as grandpa intervened.
"Alright, Grandpa, I’ll bring that brat in front of you," Zhu Qiang nodded and said with a smile.
Then he pointed to a few burly men and said, "You guys come with me."
"Yes, young master," they replied in unison.
Zhu Qiang, looking smug, led those subordinates toward Ye Chen. As he walked, he thought to himself, "Kid, let’s see if you can still be so arrogant. You’ll soon be begging on your knees for what you did before."
The manager, watching Zhu Qiang approach them, trembled with fear.
"Mr. Ye, they’re coming," the manager whispered.
Still, Ye Chen paid no attention, continuing to enjoy his food as if nothing had happened.
Zhu Qiang swaggered up to Ye Chen, and his subordinates stood behind him, ready to act at a moment’s notice.
"Ye Chen, you still have the nerve to eat here? Don’t you know death is at your doorstep?" Zhu Qiang said arrogantly.
"Pighead young master, are you itching again? Want me to scratch it for you?" Ye Chen said with a smile without even glancing at Zhu Qiang.
"Kid, I hope you’ll still be laughing later. My grandpa wants to see you, so come with me quickly," Zhu Qiang said coldly.
Seeing the situation, Su Wanyi’s delicate face showed some tension; she feared that Ye Chen might get hurt.
"Honey, don’t go with him," Su Wanyi said, shaking her head as she looked at Ye Chen.
"Silly girl, it’s nothing," Ye Chen smiled and comforted her.
He then looked at Zhu Qiang and asked, "Are you sure you want me to go with you? Don’t regret it later."
"Regret? How could I regret it? I just fear you won’t dare," Zhu Qiang said with confusion.
He couldn’t understand why Ye Chen was saying such things. Obviously, Ye Chen was the one who should be afraid and regretful, not him.
Zhu Qiang even thought Ye Chen was scared into gibberish.
"Okay, fine," Ye Chen said with a smile and stood up.
Looking at Su Wanyi’s tense expression, he smiled and said, "Wife, wait here obediently for me; I’ll be right back."
Seeing Ye Chen walk away with Zhu Qiang, Su Wanyi’s heart almost leaped up to her throat with anxiety.
She knew Zhu Qiang had come with ill intentions and that he had suffered a loss with Ye Chen before, surely wanting revenge.
Though aware of the danger ahead, Su Wanyi couldn’t care less. She couldn’t let Ye Chen face danger alone.
Be it mountains of blades or seas of flames, she would accompany Ye Chen through it all.
The manager and Liu Yuting watched Ye Chen’s back worriedly, knowing well that Zhu Qiang was a petty person who would never let go of those who offended him without consequences.
Zhu Qiang brought Ye Chen to Zhu Yong, looking smug as he said, "Grandpa, I’ve brought him to you."
Zhu Yong cared nothing for trifling people and didn’t even give Ye Chen a direct look.
"Kid, what’s your name? Daring to provoke my grandson, who gave you the Courage?" Zhu Yong asked coldly.
"My name is Ye Chen. Elder Zhu, I’ve been disciplining your grandson for you, yet instead of thanking me, you’re here to question me? That seems quite inappropriate," Ye Chen replied with a smile.
"Brat, such big talk. You dare speak to Grandpa like that. I’ll need to teach you a good lesson!" Zhu Qiang shouted angrily.
"You guys, give this kid a good beating. Let’s see if he dares speak like that again," Zhu Qiang ordered his subordinates.
"Yes, young master," they responded, about to move.
"Hold on. I want to see for myself this young man who dares to speak like that in front of me. It’s really interesting," Zhu Yong said, raising his eyes to look at Ye Chen.
Ye Chen’s demeanor piqued his curiosity.
If it were an ordinary person, they’d have been scared out of their wits by now, incapable of uttering such words. Yet this young man was different.
This made Zhu Yong curious about Ye Chen and wanting to see the young man’s face clearly.
The moment he raised his eyes, his expression froze, his old eyes widening as if he’d seen something terrifying.
Zhu Qiang also noticed his grandfather’s unusual expression and wondered what had happened.
"Grandpa, what’s wrong with you? Is it a heart attack again?" Zhu Qiang asked nervously.
Zhu Yong didn’t answer his question but looked at the young man before him and asked, "Your name is Ye Chen, right?"
"Old man, are you deaf? Didn’t I just tell you my name is Ye Chen?" Ye Chen replied impatiently.
"Brat, who the hell gives you the nerve to talk to Grandpa like that? I’ll make sure you regret it," Zhu Qiang felt like he was about to explode with anger.
Throughout this time, he’d not seen the fear or nervousness on Ye Chen’s face, instead, all he saw was calmness.
"I give myself Courage," Ye Chen said coldly.
"Grandpa, look at how arrogant this kid is. Let’s not waste words on him," Zhu Qiang said to his grandfather impatiently.
Upon hearing this, Su Wanyi, the manager, and Liu Yuting appeared even more anxious, knowing that Ye Chen was sure to get beaten.
"Brat, you shut up for me," Zhu Yong sternly commanded.
Zhu Qiang was taken aback by this reprimand. Initially, he thought his grandfather would instruct their subordinates to act. He didn’t expect him to stop.
Everyone was surprised by Zhu Yong’s action.
