Chapter 1927: Cooperation (I)
“King of Silver Moon, the Human King is focused on fleeing. If he really does get away, there will be no chance of survival for you guys. “The Reincarnation master’s tones were exceedingly frosty as he was well and truly angry. “Are you going to sacrifice yourselves for him? Thunder Emperor, Fog Mountain, and the dao chess, are all of you going to go down for someone not related to you??
“The Exalted Chaos Sky Emperor has entered ninth rank and is aided by Reincarnation now. It is only a matter of time before he unites the chaos and creates one world! Are you guys not going to consider your own futures?”
He struck mercilessly as he sought to fracture the enemy. These people were from different worlds. In that case, why could he not split them apart?
Even those from the same world often betrayed each other when survival was at stake.
Eight eighth ranks were attacking four eighth ranks and some seventh ranks, but continued to fail at taking down their enemy. Just that alone represented utter failure to the Reincarnation master. Thankfully, the Human King had expended his physical body and been weakened for it.
Drifting Life arrived at the Silver Moon battlefield and coordinated his movements with the wraiths to kill the Silver Moon king. The outer regions occupied the upper hand in all areas. They would be the victor soon!
The Human King’s skeleton began cracking as he retreated. His long blade had already shattered. His thorniest opponent wasn’t Reincarnation. The Reincarnation master hadn’t brought his full force into the fight because he’d been preoccupied with building dao domains to prevent his quarry from escaping.
It was the chaos beast giving the Human King the greatest trouble. An eighth rank chaos beast possessed at least four thousand dao rules, and that wasn’t the key. Just that alone wouldn’t put the chaos beast on par with the Human King.
The key was, the chaos beast’s body was formidable. The Human King could naturally win against the other in single combat, but when he was severely injured, the other was using the natural advantage of its body, and the battlefield was curtailed by the dao domains...
The Human King seemed about to fall back into the situation that he’d been caught in moments ago. He would’ve wasted his body then.
Fang Ping swore up an internal storm! He would’ve hacked this monster into two a long time ago if this was in normal times! But now... it was very difficult to.
Damn it, were Ole Zhang and Big Cat at Reincarnation’s home world, or were they on his way to save him?
He couldn’t hold out much longer!
......
Li Hao, on the other hand, breathed out with relief. The Human King hadn’t self detonated.
That was good.
Everything had happened so quickly just now that he’d been quite afraid that the Human King really was going to blow himself up. But now that he thought back to his experiences traveling through New Martial, how would the New Martial give up so easily?
He hadn’t self detonated in the face of so much danger back in the day, much less now. Meanwhile, Fang Ping had faked many self detonations over the course of his life.
The Human King had committed many instances of deception and intimidation. Li Hao reminded himself not to forget the man’s shamelessness just because he had a good reputation these days. That had clearly been a feint just now, but it successfully scared Drifting Life away.
And now that terrified Drifting Life has come to me...
That’s fine! It’ll give the Human King some breathing space!
Drifting Life punched at Li Hao, a far cry from his cowering, hunched self in front of the Human King. He attacked the seventh rank Li Hao with abandon!
This was a classic case of bullying the weak and being fearful of the strong!
He wasn’t afraid of facing a seventh rank, even if the seventh rank in question had killed Earth Yang. Drifting Life was aware of that battle—but many powerhouses had restrained Earth Yang then, making it possible for the Silver Moon king to kill the man.
It didn’t mean that Li Hao really had the strength to kill an eighth rank!
A sixth rank Li Hao could kill a seventh rank, but a seventh rank Li Hao could not kill an eighth rank. The increase in strength from that ascension was too little for Li Hao. The key to his strength was in the number of worlds and daos he possessed, not the strength of one dao.
So although his battle strength was slightly stronger than before, it was far from the increase that’d resulted from breaking through to sixth rank.
Li Hao counted as a premier seventh rank, but his strength did not rival that of the Human King’s when the man was a seventh rank. The Human King had been able to withstand eighth ranks then. The young man truly did fall a bit short in comparison.
The appearance of Drifting Life and interference from wraiths in the surroundings meant that Li Hao stumbled backward despite erupting with the blow of a thousand worlds. Although a bloody mark resulted on Drifting Life’s knuckles, the man smiled.
He’d been a bit worried before his first blow landed, but turned out to still occupy the upper hand after going a round with Li Hao. This greatly invigorated the man.
He would regain the confidence he’d lost with the Human King from the Silver Moon king!
“Time?” sneered Drifting Life. “It doesn’t look like it’s good for much!”
He’d learned of Li Hao’s capabilities from Reincarnation, that the young man might cultivate the dao of time. But it seemed quite mediocre for the moment, despite it being their first brush with each other.
Li Hao didn’t make a sound. He swung his sword—a thunder tribulation appeared!
It was a chaos tribulation. The sword of calamity!
Drifting Life was stunned as he swiftly punched in response. One punch hit the thunder and lightning, numbing his own body in the process. Again, he was reassured by the results.
The formation of a chaos tribulation instilled wariness in even his eighth rank self, but he quickly realized that it wasn’t as strong as real chaos tribulations. It was only seventh rank, which was nothing to be concerned about.
You’ve got a lot of tricks up your sleeves, but I’m an eighth rank!
Li Hao had only swung his sword at this point. Although he might not be able to stand against this guy, he wasn’t terribly concerned. What was more troublesome was how to resolve the crisis facing them. Just one Drifting Life was nothing noteworthy.
He was surrounded by four eighth ranks. Reincarnation and the chaos beast were both heavyweights and very difficult to neutralize. Li Hao couldn’t manage it, in any case.
It looked like they would either need New Martial to rescue them, or he would need to use... time.
Time might be the only tool that could effectively break them out of this situation. But how would he deploy it?
Or should he wait a bit longer? It wasn’t the best timing to at the moment. But perhaps the best timing would come around only when the Human King died.
Li Hao was extremely conflicted.
They stood a chance if he deployed time at full strength. He could reverse the Human King back to peak condition, before he was so heavily injured. That would give him a chance to turn the tables.
At the same time, the current lay of the land made it seem difficult to ensure victory even if the Human King returned to prime battle form.
Li Hao also needed to ensure that he took the most appropriate opening possible. He could make one reversal, but if he wanted to reverse time a second time for someone like the Human King, he would end up paying the price of his entire lifespan.
Boom!
Li Hao stumbled while he was lost in thought—a massive chip had appeared in his longsword. The young man was shocked and also at a loss.
Despite having reached peak sixth rank, the Firmament Sword was still hard pressed to house his strength. And since they faced an eighth rank... it was actually showing signs of exploding.
It was better to have a weapon than not, but the quality of this weapon really wasn’t up to par. It easily crumbled each time he brought his full strength to bear. Li Hao was immensely resigned by the state of affairs.
This sword was of subpar quality! If it was like this while he was a seventh rank, then it would be completely useless to him when he was an eighth or ninth rank!
The current battlefield was very disadvantageous toward them. Should he keep waiting? Had New Martial sensed what was developing or not? Would a turn of events take place if he kept waiting?
Li Hao shot a look out of the corner of his eye to where the Silver Moon exalted emperors were facing the wraiths with some difficulty. However, they managed to pull through with Number Two’s help.
And while the three eighth ranks couldn’t match the three from the enemy, at least they could hold on for a while.
It was the Human King who was in greatest trouble, and he himself in the second greatest trouble. There was one eighth rank and two seventh rank wraiths after the young man. He wasn’t that much better off than Fang Ping.
Could New Martial do something for him? Would the supreme come reinforce them or attack Reincarnation?
And if they chose the latter, could they actually take Reincarnation?
Reincarnation had sent all four of their eighth ranks after the Human King. Did they not consider that someone might attack their world?
Li Hao could only tamp down his impatience and wait for a bit longer. He would be able to bring the Human King back so long as the man remained alive. So while Fang Ping was heavily injured and his bones fracturing, there was nothing he could do about it!
The Human King just needed to have one more breath in his body!
This kind of thrill ought to be right up his alley.
......
Outside Reincarnation major world.
The supreme and the others arrived, but the Ash Emperor was uneasy. It looked into the distance and fretted, “Meow meow meow... Sinister Zhang, things don’t... don’t seem right.”
Supreme Zhang ignored what the cat called him. It always liked to give nicknames to others and used whatever came to mind.
There was no need to hide or conceal anything.
The Martial King looked into the distance, but didn’t see anything. With the Reincarnation master concealing the battlefield, one had to be close by to sense anything. But the Human King had been their companion for many years and overseen Yin and Yang for a long period of time.
Even the supreme was shifting uncomfortably.
Perhaps... the situation might be worse than he’d thought. Fang Ping might have been overconfident.
However, Supreme Zhang chose to remain calm. Although some accidents might have appeared, things weren’t critical yet. He would be aware of it if events had progressed that far.
Supreme Zhang forced down the anxiety bubbling in his heart and considered the major world in front of them. Despite losing its eighth ranks, Reincarnation had a strong cohort of seventh ranks. It possessed fourteen.
Supreme Zhang was unaware that the four they’d killed last time had come back to life as well. Instead of the ten he expected, there were fourteen present on the world!
Since they all had home world advantage, they were forces to be reckoned with.
Although he didn’t have full knowledge of their target, the supreme still regarded it solemnly. Reincarnation had suffered heavily from the last battle, but...
Supreme Zhang took a look back at the seventh ranks behind him. Light major world had four seventh ranks. He had the Exalted Blood Emperor, Sword Sovereign, Li Zhu, Earth Emperor, and Sun God. That made for nine. There were also newly born ones from the three major worlds that the dragons had given them.
The Human King had only absorbed Light major world, not those three. They’d produced two more seventh ranks.
The worlds of monster spirits were more suited for their kind. The first seventh rank was the Heavenly Dog and the other was Qin Fengqing. The latter wasn’t a monster spirit, but he was very bold in making requests. He’d asked for the world before anyone said anything. No one else was as thick-skinned, so they waited.
