Chapter 333: New Aren
Aren looked at the dome the way you looked at something and prayed for it not to happen. There was very little time for him to think of what to do next. He had to somehow get through this. The moment the dome came down, he would be in a lot of trouble.
’Think, Aren, think,’ he ground his mind and tried to find an answer, and at the end one popped into his mind, a way out of the situation that he was currently in, and that was.
"Shadow Domain," he called out. The domain spread fast and wide, covering him and Shadow.
Aren knew that there was no way for the domain to hold Shadow for long, but he did not need long. He needed a few seconds.
The moment the domain swallowed them, he sprang forward. Inside the domain, he had absolute control until another being somehow overpowered his control. With that control, he turned all the tendrils of Shadow back at him.
The tendrils ripped through the air, and before Shadow could react, his own tendrils stabbed into his body and left massive and deep wounds. He plummeted to the ground. Aren charged forward. He dove into Shadow, tackling him to the ground as they skidded for a few meters until they came to a stop.
Shadow was bleeding right there on the floor. He looked at Aren with weak eyes like someone that had been defeated.
"No, something is wrong," Aren said.
He was right. Shadow appeared behind him while the one that was beneath him dissolved and turned into a shadowy, slimy being that grabbed onto Aren and held him out.
Aren struggled to get out, but no matter how hard he pulled and fought, the being behind him held him bound.
"Did you really think that if you managed to take a small part of my shadow and make it yours, you would be able to defeat me?" Shadow asked, his voice heavy with mockery. He looked at Aren the way you looked at a weak enemy. freewebnσvel.cѳm
"I’ll not let you have my body, even if I have to kill myself!" Aren roared.
"Haha, your drive and desire are great, I have to say, but all this childish play ends here," Shadow said and then drove a hand right through Aren’s stomach.
Blood gushed out there, pouring from his guts like it was a fountain. Aren’s eyes widened. He could already feel the cold in him forming. He was going to die.
The slime shadow let go of him, and he hit the ground.
Shadow looked at him in a puddle of his own blood and then spoke, "When your consciousness finally dies, I’ll take over the body. It’s a pity that you have to go this way. You could have watched from my side as I ruled the universe and everything else."
After he finished saying that, he started walking away, leaving Aren there.
"I... I’m... not done yet," Aren muttered in a weak tone as he stretched his hand after Shadow, but he was far too weak and far too injured. His hand hit the ground, but he refused to stop there. He grabbed onto the ground and pulled himself forward.
"Athena is waiting for me to come be by her side," he said as he pulled himself forward, tears streaming down his eyes. "I can’t fail her. She trusts me. I have to be there."
He groaned in pain and pulled even further, his exposed belly grinding against the ground and causing him so much pain he could barely focus.
"I still have to find Zero’s mother. I promised her that I would. She is gonna be mad if I don’t."
His voice slowly started drifting off, and after a few more pulls forward, his body gave up and he collapsed there. Dead.
Shadow felt it when Aren died. He let out a sigh, not a sigh of regret or pain, but a sigh that showed how he wished he had not had to take down the best version of his soul. He did not regret it though. Aren was an issue.
Now with Aren gone, he had control over the body. He closed his eyes and started the process. This process would harness all the shadow energy back into him, all of it spread across the universe. He would reconnect himself as the source of it all, and that would be the beginning.
He took over the body. The eyes shot open in the real world. He turned and looked at Aren’s friends in the distance, but then ignored them and began channeling the power immediately.
Suddenly, a massive purple magical circle formed under them and spread for a hundred-meter radius.
When Aiden saw this, he looked at Aren in confusion. He tried to approach, only for Lucy to grab him by the shoulder.
"We have to run. Whatever that is, it’s not Aren," she said.
They all looked at her, confused.
"Trust me and run. Get out of the magical circle. We have to move now!" she said.
Aiden gritted his teeth hard, fighting against himself not to go meet Aren. Finally, he turned and started running. The others followed. Athena looked at Aren for the longest time before she started running as well.
The magical circle began swirling under Aren, and a dark magical energy ripped through the sky and began pouring into Aren nonstop while he stood there and took it.
This energy alone was enough to cause the skies to begin to crack as it came with full force and from every possible realm that was connected to the domain.
Every person on Earth and in the domain, the gods and angels as well, they all saw it begin to happen, a massive pooling of energy from everywhere, and it all headed to one place and into the body of one being.
"What happened to him?" Aiden asked as they watched.
"He lost himself to the shadow," Loki suddenly appeared behind them and spoke.
